To confirm the exclusivity, Sony should add Knack and Galahad as permanent rosters for Street Fighter 5.

It is, not believing that "helping to publish bs"

in case of Titanfall it actually makes sense, its a new ip and all. But when established big ip like street fighter suddenly need help to get published. Yeah please.

Feel the same way about Tomb Raider. Super shitty but it is what it is.

It's okay when Sony does it.

Transparent as always.

It was ok when Nintendo did it (with backlash)
It was ok when Microsoft did it (with backlash)
It still is ok when Sony does it (with backlash)

Please with the BS.

SF can be a big IP all it wants, it doesn't stop Capcom from being in a kinda dire situation

Look at Capcom's output the past couple years and tell me they are doing ok

For months before the reveal, Ono had tweeted that Capcom suits thought SFV wasn't worth funding. He complained a lot and tried to get fan support. The story given by Capcom+Sony seems pretty likely.

To be honest, MS poaching Dead Rising and Tomb Raider leaves me with very little sympathy for the XB1 platform in general.

Your post was certainly some Sony cheer leading fanboy rubbish however. Also this is pretty much the same situation as DR3.

Those guys need to get over it. There will never be another version of this game, ever!

Nor will it come out on Xbox One.

Good.

PS for life :3

Yeah worse thing is knowing that someone who owns a different console can play the same game you can play. Just takes all the fun out of being a console warrior i would imagine.

Never knew platforms needed "sympathy" are they living sentient creatures now? I guess if that were the case it would explain how some ( so called) gamers act toward certain consoles.

Would you rather see Street Fighter V on PS4 and PC, or no Street Fighter V at all?

i think what people fail to understand we probably would've waited until 2018 to have SFV. God bless sony for having it out earlier. Also the reason why FF14 is not on xbone is because they refuse to allow cross play so something to think about.

Im am really intersted as to why Capcom couldnt afford a new SF. Seems like they were releasing SF4 left and right.

Considering the number of physical releases for the iterations of SFIV, I can't take the idea that there was no the budget for a new Street Fighter after IV at face value. Immediately in 2013? Sure, but this is a release that's two to three calendar years later. If this were a new, unproven IP, I could absolutely understand it. The idea that a publisher wouldn't have the resources to publish one of it's most popular IPs is just odd.

You guys are very gullible to think that Capcom still has a lot of money today...

Why do you think that Ono went to Sony for in terms of making a brand new SF game?

Look at how Japanese Publishers struggled with AAA last gen.

They're not even releasing new games for PS4/XBO with some exceptions. That should be enough to tell you Street Fighter 5 might not have even existed if Sony didn't help.

Exactly.

I understand the business realities of these 3rd party exclusive deals, but I will not understand why any gamer that isn't an entrenched brand loyalist would be happy that a different platform is denied access to a game.

As far as fighting games go, there are tangible benefits to exclusivity. An unified online community, not having to worry about differences between ports that affect frame delays, etc.

We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run.

So basically SF 6 would be the only way the series becomes multiplatform. Just crazy, I was playing this series on arcades and SNES before there even was a Sony or Microsoft console.

There will be a unified online community however the game is releasing on PC. There will be cross-platform play, which is the best part of this deal, but I imagine that exacerbates your frame delay, port difference issues. Maybe the hardcore fighting community is really excited that the game isn't coming to Xbox One, I definitely am not one to speak for them.

I know it was over ten years ago, but didn't Capcom say the same thing about RE4?

I know, bad analogy. The PS4 is a successful platform. The GameCube was not.

RE sells a lot better than SF

On top of that, MS isn't the nicest when it comes to allowing cross play

It would have been sooner or later. Because they would have made it eventually. Sony's money sped that process up and made it exclusive.

Thats a pretty shitty excuse. Last time there were about 8 years between a numbered SF games. 8 years.

Add the fact that the japanese market and developers are moving more and more towards mobile, that fighting games are a niche genre, and that the last SF (SFvsTK) bombed hard, who knows how much longer it would have taken Ono to get enough funds to make SFV.

Uh... Dead Rising was an Xbox 360 exclusive that then got ported and expanded with subsequent sequels based on reception.

Now the Tomb Raider nonsense is spot on, but we've never gotten a definitive "Rise of the Tomb Raider isn't coming to the PS4" and looks like a timed exclusive but SFV sets a shitty precedence for gamers in general.

How many more franchises are Sony and MS gonna throw money at to make exclusive? I predict the next year of game annoucements with exclusive partnerships is gonna suck.

Honestly, how many people would lose their shit is that stupid Silent Hills rumor was actually true? What is MS dumps a truck load of cash on Activision to make Destiny 2 Xbox One exclusive? Or Sony becomes the exclusive home for the next Elder Scrolls? (Yes the irony of Skyrim's performance on the ps3 would not be lost on me.)

This was touched on by Miles before but I feel it will just get worse:

I view it as someone that enjoys the more competitive side, yeah. What I meant about frame delay is input lag, not online lag from the netcode, which was a big issue last gen since PS3 ports of Capcom fighters were inferior to the 360 ones as far as competitive play goes. Having everyone play together and not having to worry about input lag since there's just one platform Capcom has to worry about is an advantage to me.

I'm just saying that there's more to this than just fanboy drivel, there's clear advantages coming out of this deal beyond "I can play it and you can't neener neener"

This is what I don't understand. Is the series not doing well or something?

No, it's because that Capcom has very low funds.

Making brand new games nowadays are more costly than you realize, especially for something like fighting games.

Street Fighter 4 was expensive. It was about a million dollars to develop each individual character for SF4, IIRC, and this is completely separate from the overarching game - for Skullgirls, it was between 100,000 and 200,000 per character, but they're a much smaller studio and lived off ramen to do it.
