I left out "due to" in the question, but you seemed to get the gist. I just find it hard to believe you have not gotten hyped about games 1-2 years out before, and that you might be trying to maintain the outlook to the platform you went into E3 with.
Sure, when I was a kid I got hyped about games way out. I was hyped for FF7 and Ocarina of Time for years. Every delay of OOT was like a knife to the heart! :lol
Now that I'm older, I realize that I really just want to see gameplay, and I want to know that I'm going to play it soon. Zelda is my favorite franchise, but I'm not yet hyped for the next one, because I don't know how it plays, and I don't know when it's coming out. As a huge Shenmue fan I LOVE that they are making a new one. But I'm not hyped for it, not yet.
The games that got me hyped the most at E3 were Super Mario Maker (a game I didn't care about until the NWC showing) and Fallout 4. They're both coming out this year and I've seen how they play in detail.
Maybe next year, or the year after, when they show Shenmue 3 or FF7:R actually running, or we get a real, specific release date for The Last Guardian, I'll be hyped for those. But right now, they're might as well be words on the wind.
So as far as the best things at Sony's conference (for me), they were Firewatch (which looks spectacular... but I'm getting it on PC) and Horizon, which had gameplay that looked fun and a setting that was made me want to explore it. Dreams looks fascinating but I don't know enough about how it plays yet. I WANT it to be good though, because it looks really fucking cool.
