Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

Speaking of map, I'd like to ask anyone who has the game if Arkham Knight's map is truly 5 times the size of Arkham City. I just find that hard to believe.
Why? It's been almost four years and City really wasn't that big compared to most open world games.

Is the PC version even coming out on time? Could have been delayed since the review copies weren't sent and it's not up for pre-load on Steam either. Last minute delay? HOPE NOT!

That would be a pretty big dick move to delay the PC version the day before release. ;)

Ugh, why are games so big, I'm now going to have to delete another game or two.

Dem less compressed, higher resolution textures and audio.

For those who are interested in the PC version: Green Man Gaming has a 40% off coupon code that doesn't seem to be publicized on their site.

The code is 40OFFB-ATAKVC-GMGRB9 and it works with all versions of Arkham Knight.

Makes the base game the same price as the VIP deal, too bad it doesn't stack, heh. Still gonna hold off on the season pass until it hits at least $20 since so much of the content from it isn't going to be out until months later anyway.

Can Twitter Gaffers rally together and tell Shuhei or whoever that we'd really....really love the feature to pre load much faster.

Honestly.

It's more up to developers/publishers than Sony.

I just bought the Season Pass on Steam.

I'm part of the problem GAF. :O

Sorry, can't resist all those extra story missions and goodies for $30, especially since I got the base game free with my GPU.

How do you sleep at night? Anyway, yeah that's why I'll probably end up buying it, $24 on GMG is close and I might still go for it though I think I'm okay with waiting to see if it drops to $15-$20 at some point in the coming months since the the content is going to be coming out over the course of six months anyway.

I am extremely worried about the pc port.

I would find it incredibly ridiculous if a game that's running on UE3 ends up having significant performance issues. Bugs and glitches though, maybe... Would be depend on how good a QA job was done on the PC side, the PS4 version seems to have been pretty solid on the devkit running review copies.

Anybody know if the pre order bonuses for consoles are in the box or on the receipts at gamestop or other retailers?

I want the pre order dlc but refuse to buy the game thrice for it all...

So in trying to find out more info I saw what I hope isn't a major spoiler on the Steam forums. I won't even spoiler tag it here. Just an FYI STAY OFF THE STEAM FORUMS FOR THIS GAME. If this ends up being true I am going to be so pissed. Until I see a preload live on Steam I am standing by what I predicted: Game is being delayed on PC.

No PC preload yet pretty much guarantees I won't be able to play the game on launch or Wednesday :/. Digital age sucks when your connection is terrible.

I'm still amazed Rocksteady went from midtier games to the forefront with gameplay and graphics within a span of like 10 years. I think WBE made a deal with Satan and now he's collecting with $40 season passes.

The key I got for buying a GTX 970 will not have the pre-order bonus, right?

There's no confirmation that you will or won't, but it looks likely that we will be getting them. There was a method posted earlier about checking which packaged ID your license is, and everyone's ID was matching the same package that is purchased direct from the steam store.

So GAF I am debating on what to do if the PC version actually does get released Tuesday. I preordered a LE PS4 copy months ago before I had enough money to upgrade my PC, and bought an Nvidia key off of a GAF member a few months back. I kept the PS4 copy preordered because I believed (and still do) the PC version will be delayed at the last second and also I wanted to keep the stuff that came with the LE. I am debating on if I should play the PS4 version regardless due to the exclusive content then play on PC to see the differences graphically and performance wise?

What would you guys do?

PS4 now because regardless of whether or not it's delayed on PC (I don't think it will be), you'll be installing it all launch day since there's no preload, just enjoy the PS4 version now at launch.

Just play the PC version when it comes out Tuesday.

Ended up snagging the premium edition (game + season pass) for around $35 from G2Play, received the code as well. Now to wait.

Also, word of warning: avoid the Steam community forum for the game, it's a hellhole riddled with spoilers.

No way they delay the PC version with less than 48 hours until release. Pre-load will probably go live tomorrow at noon when the steam sale ends.

Aside from this thread and neogaf I've pretty much stopped going to every mass media website.

Got this thread as a permanent tab on my browsers. Oh and I think I'll be off other websites too. Do not search for "Arkham Knight" or "#ArkhamKnight" on Twitter either. Good luck folks. This is going to be a tough day and a half.

Theres no question you should keep the PC version. You can get a better looking and better performing version of the game. The Scarecrow batmobile missions are only a timed exclusive and you can take $23 of the dollars you saved to get the season pass that comes will all the dlc plus the future stuff.

And there is no way the Pc game is about to be delayed less than two days from launch.

Two things: the Scarecrow missions have nothing to do with the Batmobile, and any Playstation exclusive content from past Arkham games hasn't come to other consoles, except for the Joker from Asylum (and that was only to PC).

The PS4 exclusive content was already confirmed to only be a timed exclusive and it will come to other platforms later.

Mulling over where to get the Season pass or not. Content wise seems nice but even with GCU, I might be paying a hefty price for both the game and pass.

Decisions, Decisions.

Link is historical facts. Both Asylum and City were delayed by a month for PC.

You do know both those delays were announced 3-4 weeks before the console releases right?

http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/20/batman-arkham-city-pc-delayed-until-november/

It would be quite strange for them to wait this long to announce a delay; and it's quite rare for big releases to do this nowadays.

Yeah.

It's how folks found out Iron Galaxy have either assissted with the PC version, or did the PC port themselves, because their logo appears on the back of PC retail copies but not console copies.

Well this is all news to me. Do we know if Iron Galaxy make good pc ports?

They converted Arkham Asylum and Arkham City to Steamworks, did the PC version of the Bioshock 2 DLC (Minvera's Den), handled the WiiU port of Arkham Origins, the Vita port of Borderlands 2 and the PS4/X1 port of the Borderlands Handsome Jack collection, amongst others.

So yes?

But never 2 days prior to release.

You do realize retail copies of the PC version are already in the wild, right?
Is the game using Steamworks? They could simply postpone activating the game on Steam, thereby delaying it.
The outrage would be incredible

Looking at their rap sheet im not exactly instilled with confidence.

The ad for the PS4 DLC clearly states "Play it First" with fine print saying its exclusive until fall. Which likely means it'll release in august along with all the other retail exclusives.

Also, the description of the Scarecrow mission reads..

"Gotham falls victim to Scarecrow's fear toxin, transforming the famous city into a twisted, hellish nightmare in the Batman: Arkham Knight Scarecrow Nightmare Pack," it reads. "Tear through the city in the all-new batmobile and face off against a towering vision of Scarecrow and his undead army as they spread terror on the streets, available exclusively on PlayStation 4."

Perhaps theres more to it than that, but it definitely seems like it has something to do with the batmobile.

Got a code for the game with a gtx 970 in the box. Uhm, of course I will install it and try it out. But to be honest I did not finish the last two batman game. Asylum was ace tough, loved the whole detective part of the game.

Combat wise, I had more fun in shadow of mordor.

And the batmobile? What I've seen on the streams was just goofy.

I want to be happily surprised though!
