I wouldn't be surprised if Deception IV nightmare princess was next in the pipeline for a PC port. With a surprise announcement like Toukiden. Despite port quality tecmo has been on a roll.

They would be on a roll if we finally got NG and Atelier games, until then they are still barely trying

I'm happy about Toukiden on steam, tho, just I would be even more happy if it was 60 fps and not at this ridiculous price. OTOH I can wait until they drop a base price and we get a good discount, unless it'll never happen.

Guess it's easier to work with more recent code than stuff that hasn't been touched in awhile. Last time NG1&2 were touched were for vita ports. Aside from the Toukiden isn't a big deal ties to 30FPS because the game is made to it. You play any higher and it's speeds up & breaks the game. I believe monster hunter is the same way when emulated.

Are cards for Gatling Gears broken? Store page says there's cards, but I can't find any on the market and all the card databases don't seem to have them.

I really, really wish Steam had a proper built-in screenshot sharing function ala PS4's share button

The Steam overlay has an FPS counter, an internet browser, the ability to take screenshots... The framework is there, so give us the feature

You can automatically share them on your activity feed, or do you mean a more robust sharing system?

So I want to get into The Witcher books, but I understand that Sword of Destiny doesn't have an English translation yet (releasing end of year), and that's basically the first book...

...Does that sound correct? Should I wait until SoD is released and then start from there?

The Last Wish is first, and that's out in English.
Sword of Destiny is 2nd, and that's available in English to download online, translated by fans.

Those are both short story collections that are technically not even in the numbered saga in America, but are definitely just as important to read imo.

If you want to wait for the physical book, once SoD is out by the end of the year, only the last 2 in the (7 total) series won't be out physically. Those has fan translations online as well though.

Steam-GAF's Official Ambassador to Gaming-GAF
Thank you!

We Happy Few has officially reached its goal! We are at $263,000 and 5900 backers! All of us here at Compulsion would like to sincerely thank all of you for your incredible support. From the moment we announced the game, we received so much love, and now thanks to all of your encouragement, we will be able to bring it to you.

You guys made all the difference in getting us to the finish line - as you will see below! As a maturing independent studio, we don't have the same kind of public reach as big developers, but we felt that - if we presented a strong game to the community - and worked hard at spreading the word, then people would come.

Since this is our first Kickstarter project, and we weren't sure how to make it successful, we simply tried everything. We reached out to press outlets, reached out to our community on FaceBook and e-mailed everyone we knew in the videogame industry to help spread the word. This gave us a nice initial surge, and built some excitement around the campaign, but compared to the stuff you guys did? Small Potatoes.

4Goictu.jpg

This graph is a combination of three things: how many people checked out our page (Google Analytics), how much money we raised per day (Kicktraq), and a timeline with major activities that happened during the campaign.
Our initial spike was really solid, so it looks like going to PAX East, creating a good Kickstarter campaign and video, and spreading the news as best we could before the campaign was actually quite effective (as we’d hoped). There were some early champions in the community, such as Jim Sterling and the /r/games AMA we did, but we started to fall off pretty quickly. And by quickly, we mean really quickly.

We suspected this might happen. E3 happened during the week of 15 - 19 June, and traditionally the week before that is really, really slow as the hype builds for E3 (the wisdom is, never try to do a damn thing in the public sphere in video games during these two weeks, unless you’re Blizzard, Valve, or another big dev). We went to E3 knowing that the campaign would be slow that week, but we didn’t anticipate exactly how slow it would be the week before.
Thankfully, something happened: you guys continued helping us spreading the word on social media and things just took off again. As you can see, the spikes in the campaign coincide perfectly with one of you nice people discussing or posting about the game on public, social forums like Tumblr, Reddit or Imgur. Funny that :) As we’ve said a couple of times, which we’re now backing up with data, we really could not have done this without you. While we may work hard at providing you with updates, reaching out to the press and through our own social channels, nothing compares to you guys spreading the word directly.

So thank you. Thank you for believing, for helping, and for being so supportive from the get go.

Now, onto some housekeeping!

Pre-Alpha
As we’ve had a lot of people asking, we want to reiterate what’s going on with pre-alpha keys. As we have said in our FAQ, we’ll be able to send out pre-alpha keys shortly after the campaign ends. This depends on two things:
1) the campaign actually finishing (ie, Saturday this week), and
2) us investigating the best way of sending keys to you.
We have to send out over 1000 keys, so email is going to be very unreliable. We’re looking into this, but once we have it ready to go, we’ll post an update and get the ball rolling. Hopefully we’ll be able to do this in the week after the Kickstarter ends, but if step 2 takes longer than expected, then it may take more time. We know you guys are eager to get playing, and obviously we’re looking forward to your feedback as well.

Status of Pre-Alpha Build
We’re currently hard at work preparing the build for those of you who have backed the Pre-Alpha tier. We are releasing an initial update this week for testing with our friends & family, in preparation for the Kickstarter backer pre-alpha build. If you would like to read the build notes, you can check them out here! And don’t worry, we did not preemptively release some keys before the end of the campaign - the only people that have access to the build right now are our PAX contest winners, our friends and family, and a few Youtubers and media who helped us get the word out.

For the next two weeks, we’ll be working on a technically focused update, to optimize the game to run better and on more of your machines.

PayPal
We’ve received a lot of questions about the possibility of using PayPal for donations, and we are looking into it.

Stretch Goals!
And finally, we are closing in on our very first stretch goal! Hurray! Let’s keep this train going until the end :)

Naila and the team at Compulsion
.

You mean like sharing to facebook or twitter?

You mean besides uploading and it shows up on activity feed? Than you can go further and do a status update with it?

I want a more robust sharing system. Other forms of social media, being able to send them directly with thumbnails to Steam chat, etc

I'd plunk down money on that faster than I did on Toukiden. I wouldn't even mind it if it received the same treatment, i.e. parity with the console version (though I'd always wish for more).
At this point I know what to expect from KT PC ports (barebones but serviceable) and I can be OK with that for certain titles (Deception is one, GUST games are the other). They just need to learn to price these ports better or, well, to price them more in line with the quality port work they offer on digital only games.

Wow, the indie development thread is such a great thread. I was always searching for a place like that. So much good and condensed info. Hope I will not get daunted too much with engine stuff.

And to be not too off-topic. I seemed to remember MGS:pP was a winter release but I rewatched the latest (really great) trailer till the end and it is Sebtember actually. That's just around the corner!

The car chase scenes were something else. Really made me smile the first time.
Game was a bit buggy to me, though.

Yea, the car chase scenes were pretty fun sections. I loved the music as well.\

Didn't encounter any bugs, thankfully. Sorry to hear you did. :/

Some part of the gameplay could have been better but overall it was a wonderful game.

Yea, I'd love to see what the devs could do with a bigger budget in terms of expanding the gameplay and adding some more challenging puzzles. Overall I liked the pace of the game, though.

I hope TPP ends up being something special, like MGS3 was. Ground Zeroes was a nice bite-sized appetizer and S-ranking those side missions took me quite awhile.

The one part that was abit buggie for me was when
the girl has to heal a bunch of civilians.

I thought the story was top notch. Really made you smile and cried.. sometimes all at once.

At least from a gameplay perspective, it's looking extremely special. Kojima just has this attention to detail and the way each mechanic interacts.

Like those MGS3 skill videos for example. Just insane interactions.

I gotta say as sad as this whole Batman Arkham Knight PC port situation is. The batsuit in this game is amazing. Loved everything about it. Definitely in my top 5 favorite batsuits of all time.
Look at it! :D

The Arkham Knight suit is pretty badass too.
