nope
not all games give you achievements for offline play, Civ 5 doesn't, for example.

Depends on the game, but online-only achievements seem to be rare these days.

Ah okay, I think that's good enough.
I'm going "mudik" to my hometown later next month for about a week, and the internet infrastructure hasn't wholly reached the area. I think it's going to be a good time for me to finish some indies and shorter RPGs on my laptop.

Im with veggie. Mgs4 is better than 2 and 3. I try and try but the gameplay feels so damn dated for this gen. Maybe if I would've played them during thr gen they came out it would've been a different story.

Also, besides for the boss fights, mgs peace walker is my favorite one. Come at me.

I also hope we'll eventually get a PC version of the MGS collection. I would be surprised if atleast a PS4/XO remaster isn't in the works already.

I would do dirty things to get that ported to Steam.

Wonder what the likelihood of it coming out is now that Kojima is persona nongrata over at Konami.

And if it does get done, how likely is it that someone like High Voltage Software gets the job? Remember, Bluepoint AFAIK has zero PC experience and HVS already has a working relationship with Konami as they did the bad ZOE HD ports.

You're killing me here. Then again you don't know how to play older resident evil games. As for the rest of the MGS4 praise here

Game literally almost killed my favorite series for me. Hell its the reason that I'm buying MGSV more out of principal than actual hype.

It was the best of times. Didn't watch or read any reviews, any trailers, any posts on the web. Nothing, I knew nothing but its name.
Went in as a clean sheet and basked in all its glory. The ludicrous cutscenes, the endless philosophical talk. It deeply affected me.
One of the very few games which stayed with me long after finishing it.

MGS4 has made you go mad, which is unfortunate but not entirely surprising.

MGS4 is like DMC4. Good mechanics, iffy campaign. Although I can't remember if 4 was as stealth-friendly as the previous games.

Weren't most of the cutsecenes in MGS2 and 3 in engine? That would mean they would scale well to any resolution. Don't know about MGS4.

It might be a difficult Remaster due to the shear amount of games. Getting them ported to x86 would reach a lot of platforms and would play off the back of the MGSV hype.

So Halo 5 will have microtransaction? You basically ruined the Halo legacy at this point..

Wrong thread?

PW would be a pain but since those were already upscaled it should be less of a problem. So after that the true goal would be MGS4, which would need some changing here and there because of PS stuff. But once again Bluepoint showed that's not an issue for them.

Could this be reason why King's Quest Collection was removed from Steam?

King’s Quest: The Complete Collection Trailer

They removed old collection so it wouldn't be confused with new game that is episodic and all 5 episodes are called The Complete Collection?

Kind of a dumb name. I see that and to me I would still think it has everything including the older games.

The games are just broken on modern systems, that's the more likely reason. I don't think that's a good reason for kicking games off Steam (as long as proper warnings are put up) but it has happened before.

For you.
so Witcher 3 progression question. I just lifted the curse on
Uma
. Roughly what % am I done with the main story?

I'd say about 50%, but it also depends on your side quest completion.
Tbh, Witcher 3 story progression is kinda "weird" for me. Perhaps it's because of the abundant amount of side quests and activities on the first half of the game. After I finished most of those and proceeded with the main story, everything seemed way faster because there are less side quests on the second half of the game. Moreover, some of the story quest are kinda integrated and forced us to do them one after another. Before I knew it, I was already on the last story mission. The game was still a blast for me though, can't wait to replay it on NG+.

Oh boy. Already on my way past 50 hours. Damn this game is huge.

MGS2 is the best Metal Gear Solid game

I'm still thinking of playing MGS2+3+PW on emulator or ask my cousin for his PS3+HD collection. Hm.
Played MGS1+4 and I loved both of them so much.

As grief pointed out, 2 and 3 don't emulate great.

Fwiw, 2 does have a PC version that is a pain in the ass to set up, but once it is set up it works pretty well. There is a bug that FMV video doesn't play, just the audio from it (so voices and stuff) but the video isn't essential because it's usually just stuff like old timey war footage.

Honestly though, HD collection is the way to go. It's a stellar port for all the games.

If I remember correctly MGS2+3 don't emulate very well. They require pressure sensitive triggers and have performance issues.

The emulation scene is so fluid that this may have changed however.

Keep your fingers crossed for a Legacy Collection port.

Oh, shame about emulation troubles. Hm. Might go with the PS3 HD version then. Thanks. Hoping for a PC port. Konami lately is into PC, so chances are good.

The talk about King's Quest reminded me of an old game I remember finding really intriguing at the time. I didn't remember the name but after some research it turns out to be: Quest for Glory.

The QfG series is one of the best things Sierra did. I didn't get to play all of them when I was younger, but the blend of adventure and RPG genres was great.

On both notes, AGD Interactive has remakes of the first three KQ as well as QfG II available on their site for free. I haven't played the QfG II remake but the KQ ones are very well done, especially KQ II.

Hell yes. They were my introduction to RPGs on computer, actually (even though they were half adventure game and half RPG.) 1 was excellent. 2 was great. 3 was...meh, kinda weak. 4 was great again, especially with John Rhys-Davies as the narrator. And I never played 5, but it looks like a dog's breakfast (it was that era when game makers were all "Hey, let's do things in 3D") and I'm not sure if the gameplay held up either.

Sure this has been covered but that N2O PSX game is likely to be pulled due to using a closed source PSX emulator and violating GPLs and all that jazz. So if you want that rare +1 then get on it.

Shame since to me we should see more of this sort of thing. The whole PSX games being emulated with ease.
