Erika:

Miiverse is getting a redesign to make communicating about the games you're playing more enjoyable than ever! Take a look at these new features.

Some new features:

New Look for Communities

Pictures and more infos here.

That looks great, can't wait to lose faith in humanity faster now that I can see more posts.

Looking great. Wouldn't be too suprised if Miiverse expands even more and ends up being one of the central features of NX. Together with amiibo one of their more well-received features this gen. If I won't be able to post screenshots with one button press on NX I'll be disappointed. That really needs to be streamlined.

New design and features look really good. I'm looking forward to seeing how they evolve the service with NX, if that's their intention that is. It's a unique feature that needs to stay imo and the one thing that their online service does better than XBL and PSN.

Those pictures also reminded me how pretty Nintendo Land is. Absolutely criminal we never got anymore games with a similar art style D:

Better categorization of posts, that I really like. It will make it easier to find drawings now that they have their own category.

I don't really see the difference between the Play Journal and how posting screenshots already works. It's cool that you'll be able to filter communities to only show drawings though.

Also:

After the redesign, the limitations on posting quickly in succession will become less strict. You'll be able to post a combined total of 30 posts or comments per day. (In-game posts will not be included in this total.)

That's less strict? I'm sure all the kids who use Miiverse as a chatbox are gonna be pretty upset.

Yes and yes.
Miiverse is a great feature, and I'm glad they're still looking to improve it.

What was the restriction before?

Can't wait for a "boycott" or a "strike" of a bunch of annoyed kids who think Miiverse is a Facebook!

But, in all seriousness, that looks great. Might be a very effective way to separate game impressions, pieces of art and questions from each others - something that tags were supposed to do but failed. I do not understand the usefulness of private screenshot album, though, unless there will be some way to upload screenshots by pressing a single button.

Eesh. I think 30 may be a bit restrictive. Sometimes I get on a roll in games and want to keep posting cool things from it.

Imagine getting something really hard-to-get and cool and wanting to share it on Miiverse, but bam...you're out of posts.

Everything else looks great though

Wooooah, the album and the journal are really welcome!
so good to seee them still investing in Miiverse, I suppose it will survive the Wii U (as for amiibos)

So if I understand that correctly as long as you're ingame you can post and comment as much as you want in that particular community.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I suppose this is why there have been so many long maintenances, then?

Well I am unsure if it means that you can post about the game when using home button and it's not counted, or if it's just the in-game post functionality. I like posting screenshots but that's only done via home button.

I think it looks great. Miiverse is one of the best features for the Wii-U and also one of the best online features for a console ever. It's clear that they are planning to integrate this with their mobile plans, but more importantly, I really hope they carry Miiverse over to their next console platform/s and expand upon what they have already achieved.

The "Play Journal" replaces posting to your Activity Feed? Why?

Also, why are photo albums private?
Play Journal fairly obviously is game specific.
Where do you get that photo albums are private?

Such a weird interpretation of exactly the same images I'm looking at.

Can I just take a screenshot anytime without going to Miiverse and save it to an album on the system like other consoles? Love that feature in New Leaf.

While I like having a dedicated drawn thread it seems like you'll no longer be able to draw at all in regular discussion. Sometimes drawing out questions or drawing in response to a screenshot was nice.

Also while I guess there is no wait time anymore, 30 a day does seem restrictive. 50 would be better. I mean the majority probably are 20 and under with outliers that post over a hundred. A cutoff to 50 would be fair and not destroy their posting habits.

There hasn't been any maintenance for Miiverse since the big one a couple of months ago (most likely to remove the heartbleed vulnerability).

Well, with this redesign, I think we can expect some other big things soon, like that elusive Mii app they were supposed to show back in April or May.

Also, I'd love to know what happened to that "jump into a specific part of a game straight from a Miiverse post" feature they announced a year or two ago (at GDC).

I really hope there will be some sort of quick screenshot function for the screenshot album; otherwise, it would be quite useless. Something like pressing Y+D-pad (like on 3DS) on HOME Menu.

Also, I hope the screenshot album will allow for instant Miiverse/Facebook/Twitter sharing or local saving to SD card or thumb drive.

If you share a stage or an album photo from Smash 4, the game makes a Miiverse post. When you open the post, you can press the button with Smash logo to go directly to the in-game download section.

Hmm...a summer redesign...

I would not be surprised if this launches alongside a major OS update that accompanies or just preps for the new DeNA account system/Club Nintendo replacement. Of course, I think they said that was coming in the fall, but it wouldn't be a shock to me if all this rolls out in late August or September (still summer).

Then again, they could totally be separate. Still, it seems like Wii U is going to get a pretty major OS update this year (at least, the biggest update in a long time). I wonder how much of this is just testing/introducing their Day 1 plans for NX.

I'm so glad that Nintendo keeps updating Miiverse and that the community is still alive. I remember that people were a bit skeptical before the WiiU launched but I think it really turned out to be an awesome feature. Really hope they'll carry it over to their next platforms, but I guess that's pretty much a no-brainer by now.

I seem to recall seeing that Mario vs Donkey Kong does this too.

I'm glad to see Miiverse alive and kicking and have a lot of hope for it, but unless they carry over the GamePad to their new console (which I doubt), the drawing feature will be exclusive to the portables... and drawings are the best part of Miiverse.

As the Play Journal feature is a replacement for posting to your activity feed, you won't be able to post to your activity feed after the redesign.

This album is your own private space. It won't be visible to other users.
