That Japan team pic looks straight out of anime.

Girl - Average high school student with latent piloting abilities passed down from her late father
Glasses - Nebbishy genius who dreams of unlocking his KURATAS's true potential
Headwrap - Disillusioned mechanic who had to be dragged out of retirement after a speech about hope and following your dreams that reminded him of his old buddy. Mid-arc reveal is that his old buddy is actually Girl's father.

All of this I'm pretty sure is 100% true.

I've seen the Kuratas in action and let's just say it wasn't very impressive. They'd better have improved its accuracy for it to stand a chance in a paintball match.

Well of course Gaf prefers the Japanese one.

Purely on aesthetics, of course. US one looks like your typical tanky mechwarrior robot. Ugly as sin but probably way more practical than the Japanese one that spent half it's design budget on shoulder pads.

I'm also disappointed that nobody has posted any 'robots falling down' gifs in this thread.

Japanese one looks like a sleek robot fresh out off Anaheim Electronics factory.
American one looks like something assembled out of junk yard like a Boss Robot.

You don't invade Russia during the winter.

You don't enter an arms race against the US.

You don't challenge the Japanese to a mech duel.

I'm at a loss trying to figure out what kind of ruleset they could use that's fair, competitive, and entertaining.

I wager 2,000 Credits on Neo-Japan

What a time to be alive

Fuck. I won't mind losing at all if I'm in that awesome cockpit. It moves too slowly however. Maybe they could get some help from these guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArDk--Lul0Y

ok, that's pretty awesome! especially the part where it sliced that bean. great programing to be use in a melee mech, but since they're going for firearms (paintballs) here I don't think it'll be much use thou.

yeah, while the mechs themselves might be about on equal ground with a little advantage on the JP mech's side, I think they'll need better firepower and aiming system if it's a real fight.

how would you realisticly do this thou? set up a huge area as the arena of course, but what kind? I imagine the mobility of Kuratas would give it an edge if it's city/suburban environment while the Mk.II might be better suited in a open field kind of arena. firepower wise it seems to be on the US side (as always) but I suppose if the Kuratas can keep on the move it'll have a pretty good chance of winning. I can't imagine both of these would be quick to aquire an accurate aim but if you retrofit Kuratas with a shotgun type weapon where you only need to get close enough while on the move, it should win pretty easily.

USA gonna win.

Japan robots are all flash usually meant to get you off while US robots usually have practical uses and meant for combat.

Sorry hamtaro

This seems like it could be cool but of course it won't be. It'll be two slow lumbering robots shooting paint at each other at best, and an obstacle course with no direct battle at worst. Nothing like a clash of nimble robots with caution thrown mostly to the wind we are all hoping for.

Seven dudes on the American team. You mean to tell me they couldn't find 1 female, ONE, to fit on the team?!

The Japanese team is 33.33% female for crying out loud. And, their robot looks way cooler to boot. I can't help but to root for em.

SMDH. Do better America. Do BETTER!!

America's robot is practical. It's like Ray vs Rex.

Although Ray is sleeker and made as an anti-metal gear. Rex was built to stomp fools into the ground.

Am I the only one that likes Americas robot more

Maybe it's just because July fourth is around the corner and I'm feeling patriotic

Maybe it's just me, but the first one looks like a prototype ED-209, and the second a prototype Cain...
