Oh, shit! My bad, saw fertygo mentioning "Mizushima" plus "hottest name on industry right now" and somehow associated it with the Tsutomu one. Sorry!

Actually both Mizushima are very hot name on industry now.

And the Bones new show is here

Ah the sweet smell of a new Anime thread in the summer. For now I'll only be watching Durarara X2. Really want to tackle some of my backlog this summer.

Welcome Summer anime! Please be good to me.

I honestly thought Spring was going to be bad but I ended up watching and really liking like 7-8 anime last season. So it turned out to be a really good season. Before Spring started it seemed like it was going to be a season that I would only watch two shows. Same thing here. Nothing has really caught my eye yet except Charlotte (and Prison School but that's only because I read the manga) but I am not so sure about anything else. So this is another season of shows that could totally catch me off guard and surprise me. Hopefully it can do that because it's going to be hard to top the Winter and Spring seasons from this year.

Did everyone who hasn't watched that monstrosity of a show a favour. LOL. Scars run deep in me still.

I remember posting my impressions on here as I was watching it and was not spoiled anything. Still have deep scars from that show. That show took a sharp turn several times from what I thought it was. Scars run deep indeed.

Romeo no Aoi Sora (Romeo's Blue Skies): Review (TV Series, 33 Episodes, 1995) Link

Summary:Romeo no Aoi Sora (Romeo's Blue Skies) is a 1995 Nippon Animation production that was directed by Kouzou Kusuba (Alps Stories: My Annette). This 33 episode TV series is a beautiful slice of life drama that is packed with historical facts, beautiful animation, great characters and an amazing soundtrack that together makes for a beautiful production that is a delight to watch and to be a part of. A member of the World Masterpiece Theater, home to series such as Anne of Green Gables and Heidi, Girl of the Alps (both of which were directed by Isao Takahata), Romeo is one of the last in this long lineage of amazing series that dates all the way back to the 1970’s, with veterans such as the masterful Takahata and Miyazaki being at the helm of a few, but even so Romeo fits in with the rest of them with ease as a remarkable animation in its own right that tackles themes often not seen in the medium with both delicacy and care. It’s a show that from beginning until the end had me hooked as it pulled me deeper into its world that is brimming with life, sorrow and happiness. Friendships are forged, and friendships are interrupted by the raging seas known as life, as people both come and go, at the mercy of fate and the cruel cards that they’ve been dealt, but no matter what happens, tomorrow will always be there, waiting for them to grow up and become adults and better people.

In the end, I love this series but did try to be fair, acknowledging its flaws and weak points. It is something that I will recommend to everybody, but I do fear that people may look at it and turn up their nose, feeling too big for it. Hopefully that’s not the case. It has parts that could have been strengthened, but that’s fine, because as a complete package from start to finish I had an amazing time with it. It’s a story about being optimistic, fighting as hard as you can, for both yourself and for your friends. A story that expresses the importance of both friendship and education, and how no matter what obstacles lay in front of you, fight on, hand in hand with your friends as you pave a better future. Life will always throw you a curve, and at times you'll resent everybody around you, but you have to keep your chin up and move forward, to not let your struggles be in vain, and to most importantly never let go of your dreams. Life is cruel, but it doesn't have to be as long as you have your friends by your side.

Genmu Senki Leda: Review (1985, OVA, 1 Episode) Link

Summary: Genmu Senki Leda (Leda: The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko) is a 1985 OVA directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, who is best known for his work on the Pokémon anime series and movies. This very short but sweet story revolves around Yohko, an ordinary high school girl who composes a song in order to express how she feels about a boy that she’s fallen in love with. Up until this point however she hasn’t had the courage to let her feelings be known, but with this song by her side she hopes to be able to confess her love to him. While taking a walk one day she bumps into the boy, but lacking the courage she walks past him while listening to the very song that she composed, and at that moment she is transported to another dimension, a world simply known as Ashanti. Things get weird as she tries to return back to her home. At an hour and 10 minutes, this is a short but very entertaining OVA that I enjoyed more than I expected. Also, did I mention that she meets a talking dog along the way?

In the end, containing many tropes, it’s both silly and stilted, and yet very charming and fun to watch, again reminiscent of an old 16 or 32 bit JRPG, transporting you to this other world for a little time while you quite literally escape this reality if just for a little while as you watch in awe as the pretty visuals and fun, catchy, cheesy and yet heartfelt music pulls you in, further into the world of Ashanti. It’s definitely something that I enjoyed and straight up my alley. If you have a place in your heart for a one hour romp, a world with a talking dog, a time traveling Walkman and magical girl warriors in scantily dressed armour, then Leda is for you.
Overall: 8/10
Very enjoyable, with great animation and a fun soundtrack, characters are simple and full of tropes and clichés, and yet enjoyable and fun to watch, all wrapped up in a simple, but entertaining story.

Twilight Q: Review (1987, OVA) Link

Summary: Twilight Q is a two part OVA released back in 1987, it was supposed to showcase the up and coming talent in the industry; planning 7 parts, however due to low sales only 2 episodes were made. This is a short review of those two.

In the end, both of these shorts are strange, with the first being a lot more traditional in the way in which it tells its story, containing more conventional story beats however the second short is a lot more experimental and bizarre but yet interesting and captivating. Both are flawed, seemingly rushing at the last few minutes and definitely not for everyone containing not much in the way of story at a glance, but in the end I enjoyed them quite a bit as relics from the past. Bearing the hallmarks of their respective director and artists, this work shines as a montage of their talents and creative capabilities.

7/10

Just throwing this out there for later, but I'll watch this Your Lie in April show if you watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

There's nothing shameful about it, it just means that you like posting about anime more than others

Wohoo, I will continue on thinking it's good. Mission to break top 5 is so on.

When you think about it, even if you post less there will always be 10 people with more posts than others lol. If it really was like this, no one would even come in here to talk :p

I did think about it like this.... I was a little confused about it too. Good to know though, wall of fame!

Bunch of shows have caught my eye this season, so i'll be watching a lot of anime this week/next week. Hopefully I don't need to drop too many.

Recommend you guys check out Rokka no Yuusha

I know Passione fucked up Rail Wars in last year, but this time they find a way better staff to adapt the show, and according to pre-screening event impression from Japan, it's pretty positive and they actual make a faithful adaption this time.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Episode 34

Satellite had baseball grounds and more? Why did they always make it look like some destroyed place.

Backstory needs to last longer, that was some intense action for Yusei there. Glad he happily made it out.

Gotcha. Let me know when you watch Jojo and I'll get right on that!

Will do. I am actually looking forward to it, provided that I don't get sucked into a whole bunch of other shows. I am actually determined to finish all of link mans shows this weekend (since I have Friday off). So hopefully sooner rather than later.

Good deal, I'll watch season 1 on Crunchyroll next week and follow from there. I have to watch something this Summer. .

You and me both, I'll be watching it this month before it airs, since I haven't seen it yet, but it's been on my list for a long while now, it looks so good.

I was totally planning on watching nothing new this season, and ended up finding 5 or so shows that looked interesting enough to try. Stupid anime, always trying to make me watch it.

BONES' new show is likely a big big project. It might also be transmedia. The synopsis makes it clear that this is exactly what Aikawa was talking about back in May.

Concrete Revolutio - Chojin Genso

Tokyo have reached a golden age, and countless superpowered heroes are overflowing the city. These heroes originate from various origins - wanting to fight evil, coming from outer space, coming from a magical world, born from an ancient lineage of yokai, a robot created by brilliant scientists, or even an OOPArt robot. Regardless of their nature, the abundance of these heroes everywhere mean that the Japanese government can no longer turn a blind eye to the situation...

And the impending question is... why did they use a cat picture? Was it some kind of deep hint/code? :p

Late lackluster impression for previous season thread but whatever!

Euphonium Finale

Sorry guys, the most accurate instrument porn isn't doing it for me. Episode 12 was the peak of this show for me and while it never got Hyouka festival arc good this is still the best thing kyoani has done since. Hope they can keep it up, any idea what they're making next?
