Ugh... I'm depressed to read that. I bought Neo Turf Masters MVS cart from Italy :'(

It looked "correct" as far as I can tell. I didn't open it up to look at the boards but they looked pretty correct from what I could see through the vents and by looking at pictures of the boards online.

I'm talking AES. For MVS, it's hit and miss but I would still avoid those countries. Check it against mvs-scans.com

I almost purchase a Metal Slug conversion from a French seller, and the worst part was that the guy was selling the item for a quite high price. Luckily I asked if the item was legit and he replied " It works perfectly" and due to that I gave up.

I saw a few good auctions from a Japanese seller, I will try to won a few games, just to start, but the good items is already very expensive with less than one hour that auction started. Some people don't know how to restrain himself in some auction, the auction starts at U$ 1,00, e someone already bid more than U$ 40,00.

Didn't know this thread was a thing. Just throwing this out there for any fans of Metal Slug 2 - the slowdown in that game is so bad I decided to do something about it:

Metal Slug 2 – reducing the slowdown

well done man, this is a tremendous effort. I had read a topic regarding the possibility of this over at N-G a while ago. Glad to see someone has taken action. I would definitely try this out, but I'll probably look for a beat up MS2 cart first.

You might want to release the modification as a patch rather than hosting copyrighted work on your personal webspace, just to protect yourself.

Well - that was a whole load of effort. I really don't think SNK were going to care about that one, but since the question has been publically raised - it's done. I hope it works like that for everyone, I was only able to test it on a Vista machine and a CentOS box.

Neo Geo Controller Pro Joystick - $50
The "bean" joystick! Joystick is in good condition. The box has some damage on front corner (see pic), but otherwise looks fair.

Here's some gameplay...they've done a lot of tweaks:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hsArfUIZIk#t=90

The main thing to know about this conversion is the fact that it uses the music from Crossed Swords 1, sound FX are from Crossed Swords 2.

The next important thing to know is that this conversion will include fixes to the CD version of the game. There are many minor glitches in the CD version and hopefully I can get most of them fixed. I'm not going to list all the changes at this point but to give you an idea of the improvements added over the CD version thus far.

33 Sound FX added.
- Example, see Blue Mage's appearing in video.

53 Graphic fixes.
- Example. see female character on mode select screen.

Also
- General overall improvements that don't fall under the above.
- English text and grammar improvements.

Decided to post in this thread to let Neo Geo fans I have some MVS carts for sale
in the B/S/T thread.

Garou Mark of the wolves being a highlight for sure.

I searched and didn't see it mentioned, and I'm perhaps a month or so late, but it is the 25th Anniversary of NEO GEO.

Last year was Genesis' 25th, this year it's Neo Geo :)

Taking advantage of the bump... Did anyone try the new PSN version of Metal Slug 3? It totally slipped under my radar.
Is that on par with M2's Neo Geo Station level of fidelity?

You're right to want one, so get one?

Go MVS, and get a consolized system. Boom. Done. Get the games you want in that format before the prices get even worse.

Both are so expensive. Definitely the MVS route would be the way to go. Best library and price. I saw that Omega console, but half a grand is rather steep for me and my pockets right now.

=/

Ok guys, I'm the mood to get an AES game

I have a choice of either Last Blade 2 or SVC Chaos.

They're worth around the same price, but just can't decide what to get.

From a collecting point of view which do you guys think is the better investment?

Last Blade 2

Last Blade 2 is great, and like LB1 had a really neat easter egg if you beat the game as Hyo.
Keep in mind that when it was released, the internet was slowly gaining more mainstream awareness, and his ending would result in him giving you a link to get an LB wallpaper.

There is a lot to appreciate about Last Blade 2. The gameplay technics, the stage designs, the music and general nuances you get with exceptionally well made fighting games. SVC is the weaker in all regards, yes it is fine but Last Blade 2 just is more well rounded and satisfying.

Gameplay wise? Last Blade 2.

Value wise? SvC because whilst Last Blade 1 and 2 can be re-released on current and future platforms with relative ease, SvC is much more complicated license wise and would require SNK and Capcom to thrash out a new deal. This will contribute to SvC on AES increasing in volume faster than LB2.

Fiscally irresponsible wise? Get both, yo.

SvC has a hilarious translation too.

lol a few years ago when SVC Chaos was around 200USD and LB2 at 300USD I might have gotten both, but nowadays anything remotely valuable on AES is just so expensive.

I recently got into Neo Turf Masters via the PS2 collection and whilst I enjoyed the heck out of it, the AES and even CD price is just obscene for me to even bother.

I wonder how much SvC goes for on scumBay these days?

Lol, you don't wanna know.

Even the store at neo-geo.com has obscene prices.

Let's just say that unless money is of no object, it is a horrible time to be getting into the AES scene and the more sane people should be looking into getting a MVS to AES converter and just stick to MVS carts instead.

Done and yeah, I always loved LB2, but never really got around to getting it.

I kinda wished I got the game a few years ago when it was cheaper =(

You made the right call. LB2 also seems like one of the harder games to get these days; it isn't necessarily in the crazy expensive tier, but it's a lot harder to find a copy of it than say MotW. At least, that's what it seems to me.

LB2 is a weekly, if not daily, play for me. It rarely leaves my Omega. I've also been putting serious time into the NGPC version, which is also Godlike.

SVC is only worth it to see Capcom characters drawn in the SNK style. It does not play well, IMO.

It is often cheaper (and safer to avoid boots) to fly to Japan and buy AES carts there.

I am not even joking.

No doubt, even when I went to HK last year, the majority of the prices there are cheaper than the import online stores.

One day when I plan a trip to Japan, I'll go raid the retro stores lol.
