It looks like a Game of the Year edition of The Evil Within will be hitting shelves in September.

Amazon France lists The Evil Within – Game of the Year Edition on its storefront, and although the listing doesn’t offer much else information, it does note that the game will cost 39.99 EUR and will be released on September 18. Assumedly, the Game of the Year Edition will feature all of the horror title’s previous released pieces of DLC, the last bit of which came out back in May.

I'll probably pick this up, I only rented The Evil Within originally and while I really enjoyed it the black borders annoyed me too much to continue. Now that those are gone and it'll be bundled with the DLC? Sold.

Have GOTY editions ever come with performance increases unless they were cross generation?

the game runs well now, there are some rough spots like the village in chapter 3 and some parts of chapter 12 but besides that game is fine and very playable.

Bethesda did a new patch for console (removed letter boxed) recently so let's hope they fix all technical problem in GOTY version or at least include all patches in

damn I want a sequel not GOTY editions.... long wait ahead, if there's a sequel in the making then it's 2017 at the very earliest.

errr, it's not a technical marvel sure but far from being a technical mess and they removed the letterboxing.

I've played games that ran a shitload worse, like Skyrim on PS3. Trust me, TEW is not nothing like Skyrim on PS3.

There's so little reason to buy games on launch this gen if you don't mind waiting. I'm currently holding out for Arkham Knight. I'm in no rush to play it and have a huge backlog, so I can wait until after Christmas.

This is what i am doing. I only buy Japanese games day one (not from NIS or Aksys since i know there will be another version the next year) now.
Save me lots of money :p

If you enjoy the game despite the performance I am sincerely happy for you, but the concept that I shouldn't have an issue with TEW's poor performance because a different game on a different platform was worse is silly. Your personal opinions on this topic mean nothing to me.

take the camera and animations from the dlc and add them to sebastian in the main game and i will re-buy.
The dlc ran at rock solid framerate and improved on most things including copy/pasting leons animations from resident evil 4, so much better than the main games janky and weird animations and it looks so much better when moving around with a pistol.
please add this to the main game or just allow players to play as juli if you can't be bothered to rework sebastians animations.

but it's not a personal opinion, the game is playable and the framerate problems are exaggerated, but whatever, seems you made up your mind to pass on the game :shrugs

And once again my policy of holding off on any Bethesda games for the inevitable cheaper 'complete edition' proves fruitful.

Hopefully a Wolfenstein NO/OB collection will be next.

My game of 2014. Gonna replay it again this week along with the DLC which I missed. I heard they patched it so you can now remove the black bars on console?

I crashed once on launch day but never since, have about 100 hours on the PC version.

Crashed a lot for me too so I left it until a later patch. It's much better now, played through the game twice with no crashes.

That's it, guys. We can finally retire the term "GOTY edition" when there's one for Evil Within. It is over.

I'll be over here waiting for Homefront: GOTY Edition and Lollipop Chainsaw: GOTY Edition.

Always love the hyperbole that comes with ever The Evil Within thread. It gets choppy at times in the framerate but the way some act as if the game is completely broken and unplayable is silly. 40 is great deal for this and and all the DLC. Might trade in my copy for this complete edition which I'm assuming will have all the patches rolled into it as well. Now just need an announcement about TEW 2 being in development.

Whoa, didn't know the removed the letter boxing on console. That gives me enough fuel to start my 2nd play through even though the letter boxing never bothered me. Also, this was my personal 2014 GOTY, it was the RE4 sequel I always wanted.

DLC was shit.
Game is awesome though but I really wouldn't spend more on the GOTY edition, if you have the main game available at a cheaper price than go for it, you wouldn't miss a thing with not bothering with the DLC.
