The Islamic State's most famous executioner, "Jihadi John," notorious for being featured in videos last year that purportedly showed him beheading Western journalists, aid workers and other innocent victims, is now allegedly on the run from the terror group amid fears that other ISIS militants are out to kill him.

Mohammed Emwazi, a 26-year-old Kuwaiti-born former London resident who is more commonly known by his alias of Jihadi John, became infamous late last summer when a series of widely publicized videos allegedly showed him executing Americans Steven Sotloff, James Foley and Peter Kassig, as well as British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning.

The videos, in which Emwazi also recited ISIS' propaganda messages before killing his victims, were arguably the first real glimpses into just how barbaric the Islamic State really is when it comes to implementing its brand of jihad.

In an interview with the British site Express, an anonymous source claimed that Emwazi is believed to have fled from the terrorist group in Syria several weeks ago. The source added that ISIS would dump him "like a stone or worse if they feel he is no longer of any use to them."

"It is possible he will end up suffering the same fate as his victims," the anonymous source stated.

As it took months for the world to identify who the man behind the mask speaking in the ISIS videos was, it wasn't until February when a long-time friend of Emwazi's told The Washington Post that he had "no doubt" that Jihadi John is Emwazi.

"He was like a brother to me," the anonymous friend told the Post. "I am sure it is him."

According to the source in the Express report, Emwazi is now fearful that his unveiling as the ISIS executioner has decreased his value to the terrorist group.

Will we see a public execution of Jihadi John soon now?

You gotta admit, it doesn't look good for recruiting.

Yep, if this guy gets publicly killed, new recruits might just see how fucking crazy and evil these people are.

I'd prefer that motherfucker facing justice back in England, but if ISIS get to him first then so be it.

Yeah, this basically.

No way. People will still join, guaranteed. If all the stuff they have done so far hasn't proved it, executing him won't either. It'll be spun as he "betrayed the cause".

Aren't ISIS recruits killed somewhat uncommonly for doing stupid shit like smoking cigars or breaking whatever arbitrary and ridiculous rules they have set up? Yet they still get recruits because somehow people still wanna join ISIS?

I'm pretty sure I heard stories about plenty of recruits getting killed.

i'm not so sure about that. you have to be pretty ruthless and crazy to join in the first place. heck what do I know - I would never think a religious opinion could drive people to what they do - and to have enough of them that a government can not kill them all.

I don't want ISIS to kill anyone, but I gotta say my empathy is very limited when it comes to people like Jihadi John.

I hope he gets caught asap. The scumbag needs to rot in jail for the rest of his life.

As things stand, he might even be running back here to avoid the knife.

I think its best to just leave him to his fate. Hopefully he just dies somewhere alone and afraid

Imprisonment in the UK is too dangerous. This'll be a good incentive for extremists to kidnap brits and ask Jihadi John as ransom

Is there a 'why' to this? Having his identity revealed doesn't really seem like a reason for them to want to kill him.

I'm assuming it's because they found porn on his cell phone or something.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. He should have thought about what he was doing before he got into the business of executing people.

Yeah I still hope he isn't captured by ISIS. Nobody deserves that, not even ex-members. But if it's between that and him keeping on hurting people, well so be it.

Hmmm If he was ever caught i'd have wanted him extradited to the US where he could face the death penalty, i'm sure all countries which his victims hailed from would have wanted that
It would be nice to catch him and get intel/dirt on ISIS/ISIL/Daesh

but if he was executed by them himself, I'm disappointed but okay as the end game was still achieved, some evil's need eradicating as distasteful as that may seem

If he's beheaded its a fitting end, i just hope in those dying moments he is tormented by the ghosts of victims, before discovering he isn't going to get 72 virgins in heaven, he's likely to either burn in hell fire for eternity, or come to the realization faith was wrong and fade into nothingness, perhaps those are true fitting fates for this zealot

I wonder why they'd kill him. Says "as soon as he is of no use to them", when is that and why? I mean, does he not take part in the things the rest of them do? Be that fighting, logistics, producing videos and all that shit.

I guess if he knows he's doing some stuff they wouldn't want him to be doing, such as smoking or something else some local IS leader decided on?

If they want to kill him, why would they care enough to try and get him back?

He could be a very useful tool in convincing people just how fucked up IS and how they shouldn't be supported in any way, shape or form and people/entire families shouldn't be heading out there to join them.

He went to live under ISIS rules, now he will die under ISIS rules. If he makes it back to the U.K., they should definitely take him, but they shouldn't send a rescue team after him. It would be nice if he could make it back and talk to potential ISIS recruits about how savage they are.

Hmm... Now that I think about it, he could be a very valuable asset in dissuading people from joining ISIS.

Hope authorities catch him, and make him a sweet deal to get all the intel on ISIS they can.

Then cut his head off.

Why would anyone want him tried in the UK? Jail is way too good for him. Let him feel the blade he loves to use on others.

Hasn't that been denied already? We just don't see him anymore because they don't have anyone for him to behead.
