Super pleased with both announcements. More interested in the PS4 version but the 3DS one looks stellar too... that's another home run for Square-Enix.

Wow. I have wanted this game since the credits rolled in DQ8 (my second favorite rpg of all Damn time). And now it's real. It's really real.

I love the platform choices! I feel like I want it more on PS4, but the 3DS version is appealing too. Can't decide. NX is a pleasant surprise too

Whatever it is, i think we should put it in this current gen ... the gen is still going to stay for a couple of years.

SQEX mentioned annoucements at GamesCom ... Localization annoucements possible?

Yeah, but as many have stated already, they wouldn't have named this if it wasn't an about 99% sealed deal ... i mean, the hardware itself is not even officially announced.

With one single game they gave diversity of platform and visual style, really really good stuff.

I really hope we will get this game sometime... i have only played 9 and loved every moment of it.

The 2D/3D split is one of the screwiest things I've seen a game do. Three designs of everything for two versions of the game. Looks great and smooth, though.

Not going into that discussion until specs are out (If we want to say NX is the sole lonely next gen console since we're damn sure sony and microsoft wont kill off their current ones then fine. Again too early to suggest NX will be next gen compared to ps4/xb1)
Dont want to get into any arguements with this. I just want this game to be out here soon.

SquareEnix is back to form, and it is glorious! 2015-2016 is going to be a hell of a year!

Now, we wait for the Hopefully inevitable announcement. If the Musou game can be localized, these surely can.

Japanese gaming is alive for at least a generation.

If anyones interested in making a current gen JRPG thread later which has all titles announced and hinted at then shoot me a PM.

At work now but can work on it with someone in around 6-7 hours time.

I'm fine with this if it was the only way to get a console version internationally. It's just a shame that that version will probably be the less played one.

Wow! Just like the DQIX announcement, I met the news with "wat wat waaaaat" but then after 15 seconds changed my reaction to "well of course, that makes perfect sense."

That 2D/3D hybrid on 3DS is amazing. I'm desperately hoping it's not a N3DS exclusive since I don't want to buy a new system for it ... And I'm already considering a PS4 as this might be the tipping point for me if/when it comes stateside.

3DS version looks cool as! What an awesome idea, seems like a lot of work though for the developers.

Was not expecting NX to even be mentioned let-a-lone possible release system, wow. Seems Nintendo can still get that SE love as long as it is Dragon Quest.

I really don't see what SE has to gain from announcing it for a platform that fans no nothing about beyond a codename. And I guarantee you developers like Square aren't in the dark at all at this point. And I can't imagine any developer would ever publicly commit to making a game for a system they know nothing about. If Square had any intention of not going through with an NX version, then it would be stupid for them to announce one, especially in this context before an official NX reveal

It just hasn't been 'officially' confirmed per se. Who knows, Nintendo could possibly fuck up harder with the NX than the WiiU
(I highly doubt this would happen this by the way. Just sayin.

If there are any third parties to know details about NX, it would be the japanese ones, and SQEX is one of the most important ones, too.

I think, speculation from my side, they know enough about NX ... at least enough to drop a "tentative" announcement for it. Nintendo fans should be satisfied with the 3DS version existing and not being a dumbed down horrible pseudo-port (i for one am satisfied), so no need for them to prevent some rage by dropping a NX announcement.
