But seriously AA for prime minister, maybe he can fix our dollar

E: yeah Reyes cared about winning as much as anyone else it seemed, he was always trying to fire up the team. He's a good hitter and still very fast. I doubt this is one of those wear out your welcome type deals, but more deal he couldn't refuse

AA can't acquire a pitcher to save his life

Cal,

If LA gets the bid for the Olympics the improvements to exposition park are going to be amazing. USC will have the best stadium in California.

I know I'm LTTP but I want in to the concerts convo too:

I freaking love music, it's a very essential part of me. The thing with me is that I'm ridiculously open about the music I listen to, I have no trouble admitting I enjoy listening to Natasha Bedingfield as much as I enjoy listening to some of the most extreme Metal out there, it just depends on what I feel like listening to at an specific moment.

I've been to lots of concerts but you won't know who the hell they are because most of them are from a very niche metal subgenre, for example: Metsatöll, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow twice, TYR, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Blackguard, Gorgoroth. I actually used to be part of a few local bands from around here when I was younger but had to leave all that because of some really complicated issues.

Also, fuck you everyone
I missed you ;_;

I'd refuse it. Tulo is better, but not really sure what it addresses for the Jays.

Im also late on the band mentioning, but i love the topic to much to not comment. Notable:

Black sabbath
Iron maiden
Bob Dylan
Springsteen
Neil Young
The Who
Roger waters
Coldplay
Mumford and sons
Kraftwerk
Björk
Rammstein
Strokes
Jack white
The roots
Metallica
Green day
Muse
Gorillaz, nick cave, NIN, oasis, pet shop boys, Ryan Adams, Rolling stones, morrissey

Those were the "huge ones" from the top of my head but i could add a bunch underperforming to(like Kanye, Jay-z, outkast, arctic monkeys, Guns and roses etc)

Actually good but not as huge though:
Refused, placebo, pavement, Interpol, dilated peoples, jurassic 5, Patti Smith, Rokt erikson, Goat, Robyn, national.

And a whole lot of smaller bands from punk to hip hop. The two huge ones i would like to see the most is Tage against the machine and weezer.

How many good pitchers do the Jays need before they are considered a great team? I don't follow baseball but apparently they have a great offense but awful pitching, correct?

Do they need starters only, bullpen pitchers only, or both?

The Jays should trade for Mariano Rivera and Pedro Martinez.

Cal,

We will even without the Olympic cash influx, since we finally got ownership a couple of years ago. They're actually shopping naming rights around right now to kick things off. If we get the bid, then it's going to be bananas. As far as I'm concerned, they should keep The Peristyle and rebuild the rest from the ground up. The new Coliseum and the new University Village are going to be mind blowing.

The things that really need work are the swim stadium and sports arena. They might as well not exist as it stands right now.

Edit: Pikma, that was quite a long ban for your heinous crime

Edit II: Wow, Dragon Quest XI for PS4, 3DS, and NX. Shockingly, an announcement that makes everyone happy! (Sorry Xdrones)

I cannot express just how much I despise this Jays trade, and how worthless AA is as a GM. The Jays are going to revel in mediocrity for the next decade.

Pretty cool we're already getting NX game announcements. Guess it really is closer than I thought. Then again, it's Dragon Quest, so that might not be for like 6 years or something.

Concerts that I've been to:

Grateful Dead (multiple times: MSG, Giants Stadium, Boston...Bob Dylan was the opening act for one of them...can you tell I had Deadhead parents?)
Bruce Springsteen (at least twice that I can remember, have also met most of the E Street Band)
The Cure
Less Than Jake (free show at college, meh)
Gorillaz
12-12-12 (Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Roger Waters, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, Alicia Keys, The Who, Kanye West, Billy Joel, Coldplay, Paul McCartney + Grohl and Smear of Nirvana...kind of a ridiculous lineup to see in person in one night)

Going to see Blur at MSG in October.

Does Jay-Z at the Yankees World Series celebration at City Hall in 2009 count?

I think that's about everything that comes to mind. I'm definitely forgetting something major, though. Going to bother me the rest of the day.

I am not a fan of the deal either... but there is the possibility that other teams - ie the Phillies - were not keen on Hoffman because of his age and injury history.

I'm confused by the trade. AA is deep into his "fuck it I'm gone in a couple of months" moral hazard stage as a GM.

I left my place to walk to work, it started raining just as I left. Walked through a mall a bit and when I got out for the last 2 blocks it was pouring rain. I tried to wait it out a few minutes but it just rained harder, so I had to run in sheets of rain so hard the water on the sidewalk was up to my ankles at one point.

Needless to say I was as wet as could be when I got here, soaked so badly I had to wring my shirt out in the bathroom. It's been almost two hours and I'm still fully damp at best. Fuck today.

If he was in hazard stage he would have moved Stroman/Sanchez/Norris already. He still has time though to do so.

people are getting too caught up in terms of "need" with this trade. an upgrade is an upgrade no matter how it comes, and this is a long-term upgrade which is way better than a rental. they may still get pitching, just move Doubront out of the rotation sooner than later. With Hawkins and Sanchez, the bullpen looks set to me. They just need a serviceable middle of the rotation starter now.

They also need Hutchison to stop being fucking trash but y'know

I'm always neutral when it comes to trades. I'm no expert, so I just see how things pan out. At least for baseball since with prospects and all that it can take years for things to really see who "won".

you're all mad about Reyes, but is Tulowitzki good though? i'm a bandwagonner

Tulowitzki is about as good an offensive shortstop as you could want. Probably ranks best with Yount, a tick below Arod and Ripken in the modern era. Huge upgrade over Reyes. Dude can carry a team.

But can he throw a hipcheck or score from the blue line? Not a chance. Probably can't skate, he's a Dirtbag.

so he's basically PA Parenteau?

Wow, JR actually got someone to take Sutter, impressive. Sutter out, Fehr and Bonino in, our center depth has definitely improved.

Also, Sutter's cap hit is $3.3m, Bonino's is $1.9m.

It's not really a huge upgrade for the Jays. They need pitching. Is Tulo better? Yeah, but they really didn't need to make a swap at the position. They don't improve much for this season, take on more money, and can't trade him.

Just by purely looking at the stats, this trade looks weird for the Canucks, they also gave up a 2nd and Clendening?

Well Clendening doesn't look like much but I'd argue the Pens got the better player in Bonino and the higher draft pick, so yeah how about them Canucks.

FUCK OFF

Eric Fehr signed with Pitt.

Kunitz - Crosby - Kessel
Plotnikov - Malkin - Hornqvist
Perron - Bonino - Bennett
Rust - Fehr - Dupuis

UGH
