Life Is Strange |OT| Rewinder Me

Finished it. Thoughts:

Chloe is meant to die. The universe keeps killing her in some fashion. Even in the alt universe her injury is slowly killing her. At the end I can see her being dead for good and then 2 spirit deer appear to Max.

A few plot dumbness and Max being an idiot, but stuff you gotta let go of for the sake of the story.
Call the cops, Max! Take pictures of the crime scene(s)! Upload to Youtube!

I forsee max going all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjrM-3c3XVs

The Blue Butterfly seems like it would the "animal" representation of Chloe. if Chloe is meant to die, then the last scene of the game might be the blue butterfly fluttering around the deer - showing Chloe and Rachel are happy to be with each other again.

I'm stuck on that one and the

One I was stuck on was the
necklace on the window
which turned out to not be exactly the picture being taken.

Been thinking about this game in the past few days, without really looking too much into it. Seems interesting from what I saw in the OP, but what can you guys tell me about it without spoilering it too much? Is it a bit like Telltale games(mind you, I only played the Borderlands one) where most of the game is cutscenes with dialogue and action choices and the times where you actually control the character is limited?

My girlfriend loves watching me play Tales of Borderlands, wonder if this game would be the same for her(in other words, fun to watch even if you don't play it). :p Is it a serious game? Funny game? Mix of both?

What makes you guys love this game?

Yes it's like the Telltale games in structure.

My girlfriend loves watching me play Tales of Borderlands, wonder if this game would be the same for her(in other words, fun to watch even if you don't play it).
She would probably enjoy playing it with you.

Both.

What makes you guys love this game?
Kind of the "next step" in terms of modern cinematic point-and-click adventure games.

Did anyone notice that the line from Nathan on the trailer wasn't featured during the episode?
"A storm is coming! We are all gonna die!"

I also didn't hear the
"There's not a soul around" line, which fucked me up because I kept thinking Max's powers would take her to an uninhabited timeline.

It's like Telltale games, but there aren't quicktime events. Most of the gameplay is running around and talking to people and playing around with the rewind mechanic. The tone is like a coming-of-age novel and relatively light but it does get darker the further you get.

I love playing around with the rewind mechanic and different choices, I've probably played through chapters 1-3 a few times already.

I've just got to the (near the end of the episode (I think) spoiler wise)

the hatch and attached a hook
but I can't find what else I'm meant to do to continue/
actually open the hatch
... I've looked everywhere

The episode opened up straight away with feels

Hint:
you've got the rope attached on one end, right? So you'll need to drop something heavy on the other end. But if you already dropped something heavy...

Oh yeah, this seemed like a glitch this episode re: rewinding. Every time I'd use the RB/rewind to last action button, my game would freak out and rewind back to, essentially, the start of the level instead of stopping at the end of the spiral. I'm sure my controller isn't stuck and there wasn't anything I could do until it dropped me all the way back. Anyone else on PC having this issue?

Absolutely fantastic yet again. This is truly my game of the year. I really hope that this sees a retail release at some point. I would love a collectors edition or something. This game deserves a full out release.
I also might be thinking that Chloe is meant to die. We've seen her die or almost die in each episode. By the end of the game I believe she will be dead. Also, I honestly didn't believe Jefferson was the one abusing and killing the students and now I REALLY feel bad for not being able to save Kate. I thought it was Nathan. Could Jefferson be Nathan's father? Why was his jacket in the Dark Room? Did Jefferson kill him too? I tried with Victoria again. She's just a difficult cunt and I'm honestly over it now. She always just turns bitter and nasty each time. Lastly, no fucking way I was going to be the one to kill Chloe in the beginning. Nope.

It's cut from the same cloth as the Telltale formula. Entirely narrative driven but with a smidge more puzzles on occasion, nothing that is too taxing. There is more freedom in terms of environment exploration and interaction, but mostly providing details surrounding the narrative and characters through extra conversations and points of interest to examine. You do have more control over the character to wander about compared to the very rigid, almost static nature of handling your characters in Telltale games. But it isn't a major step-up.

The characters and intense drama steals the show as it builds a great illusion of life in that coming-of-age period separating childhood and becoming an adult...albeit with time-travel included. That gimmick actually weaves well into the game design and narrative progression allowing the journey take the audience into very unexpected territory. It's sluggish and demands patience on the player to really invest into the characters and scenario, but the payoffs often feel like an emotional gutpunch. Its all rather impressive.

That appears to be a glitch across all the versions, I hope it will be patched out in time for episode 5.

Reminds me, when I replayed it earlier I had a rewind glitch:
my game would rewind for no apparent reason when I was wandering around trying to get photos, didn't really affect anything but was just really irritating. Might be because I was using a touch pad instead of a mouse?

Happened to me on PS4 through the whole episode unless I used the slow method. Think it's just glitched right now

EDIT lmao, too slow

It's a Telltale-like game but with a stronger gameplay focus (even if all it does is serve the narrative, it makes it more interactive, I guess), highly inspired by Twin Peaks. And hipsters.

She would probably enjoy it with you, if she's into the Telltale stuff.

It's just so clever in everything, great characters, story, world building and the way they use what would be a save scam in any other choice based game as part of the game itself. It's also really nice to see your choices having actual consequences for a change.

That was my first thought but couldn't figure out how to get it back there... I completely forgot about having time travel powers...
Thanks for the help!

Yes, blame
the game for forgetting about your powers too.

I just finished the episode and shouted "Holy shit! What the fuck!?" out loud at the ending

Seeing some of the photographs really makes me wish Dotnod make a concept art book or something (could go with a physical release if anybody from Square Enix is watching hint hint)

Finished EP4 with only one rewind glitch, and no music played on the Vortex party to me unless I stand real close to the speakers. Other than that I loved every minute of it. The feels on this too damn high.

Remeber Me artbook is the second best vg artbook I own. Very different artists and talents but still. If a tenth of the quality of this artbook was put into a Life is Strange one, I'd buy

Nah, Jefferson isn't Nathan's father. There's a picture of Nathan and his father in his room and he doesn't seem to be anybody we've seen before. I hadn't thought about the possibility of Jefferson having killed Nathan though. Nathan seems like he would be a liability and Jefferson certainly doesn't seem like he'd hesitate to do it.

Just finished episode 4. Started out strong but ended kind of weak. Liked it overall but probably the weakest episode yet in my opinion.

Everytime Warren is on screen I can't help but giggle thinking of what all the gaffers will be saying about him.

Also, Samuel's voice, it's so strange and hilarious.

Just finished the episode anyway, dat ending

Only one part of episode 4 that I did not like, other than that a really solid episode.

I was not a fan of the clue linking bit, dragged on for me.

Also my avatar is pretty close to the face I made at the ending and the after credits tease of the last episode.

The meatiest episode so far and what feels like the most decisive options and shocking events. I think it's my favorite, but some of the dialogue was pretty bad frankly. Lots of melodrama and a bit of out of character reasoning. Not sure why Max insists
on trying to be friendly to Brooke even though she totally steals Warren, and the whole Victoria believing you thing was pretty weak too, among other things
.

I think I'm going to create another save file and play through the 4 episodes again, this time choosing what seems to be the best options with regard to the story
(like blaming Jefferson).

I'll still complete the game first using my original save and accept any consequences. Then I'll play my alternate save and see what changes.

Plus, it will be a good way to pass the time while painfully waiting for episode 5 :p

The whole talk with Victoria was the most surreal thing, she did not sound like a human at all during that conversation. That being said I like Max sort of being friends with her so I am okay with this.

I wouldn't call it stealing as you turned him down and then he asked her, but I will agree her attitude in trying to rub it in put me off.

But I didn't turn him down, Warren is a total dreamboat and we are meant to be together FOREVER AND EVER

I did turn him down so forgive me if Im wrong on this, but doesn't Brooke just get really salty that she isn't with Warren, but doesn't steal him?

Also Max is such a buzzkill. If I was getting my drink on
trying to forget about the Kate thing and the nerd girl would storm in trying to lecture everyone, I'd totally push her into the pool, not be all friendly and understanding.

Yeah she's hella salty that you're dating Warren, and Max
for some reason wants to remain friends while simultaneously rubbing it in every other line. Just walk away Max.

That Amanda Palmer song is ep 4 is the perfect one to describe Max and Chloe's relationship. It works especially well after what you've just been through a few minutes before.

Where's the fifth episode? Dontnod could have created a huge cliffhanger in the end, but they decided to show quite a lot. I wonder why.

Amazing game.
