Literally minutes after I got it I posted in the thread and got on the phone with amazon

It didn't even have the invoice or anything. The amazon rep didn't want to believe me.

I never get invoices with my amazon orders. Which is weird...

... How has anything changed except for the better on Amazon over the last 3, 4, 5+ years?
They killed free shipping for Europe, even if you have Prime, so that sucks pretty hard for those of us over here.

I know that doesn't impact US customers, but hey, you asked for a lame decision by Amazon in the last few years.

They have been doing it in the UK for quite a while now. I'm sure it's all 0-hour contracted people with their own vans, unmarked with some east european guy showing up with a scanner in his track pants.

Apart from a few late deliveries I've never really had a problem.

Yep, I got 2-day shipping on a package that got left at the completely wrong address, and it was delivered via AMZL_US. I had 9 other packages arrive just fine over two weeks with varying delivery speeds, and all of them were USPS/UPS/FedEx. It really makes you rethink whether you want to shop with Amazon at all, much less ever use expedited shipping with them again.

I gET some one-day,next-day packages via ontrack from newegg. Only downside is they arrive by the end of the day. Anything from ups, uses arrives before 10am

Amazon Logistics in the UK shit all over the other carriers Amazon used before that from a great height. Sunday delivery, quick comebacks if you're out, intelligent storage of low value parcels if you're unavailable, actually leaving cards reliably etc.

I am super glad Amazon started using them instead of fucking Yodel.

So they've managed to find a cheaper, shittier method than FedEx Smartpost? I'm kind of impressed.

I'm disappointed when my packages aren't shipped with ups. I've had too many issues when things get punted to the usps, I really don't want this now.

Amazon used to be a great company but now they are terrible.

They used to have good video game deals now all they do is match other store's sales (Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked stomps all over them), and they can't package things for shit (I've received so many damaged games/books from them that I've mostly given up on even ordering from them if any other online store has the item in stock).

I still order from them every once in a while, love getting Kindle books from my library, and Transparent is great but beyond that they are useless.

Amazon kind of moved away from deals awhile ago. They focus on faster low cost shipping and having everything in stock. Physical stores can never compete in selection, and Amazon is getting closer to same day or 1 day delivery. Too bad it comes at a cost with shit packing though, I get many damaged blurays.

Yup, they're fantastic. Don't know if it's the same for the rest of the UK, but in London the drivers seem to have their own dedicated areas rather than a rotation, so they get to know customers, e.g. which neighbours to leave stuff with, if you don't mind stuff left by your side door etc.

Amazon is one of those companies that really make you realise how complacent others are. Aside from FedEx and a bike courier we sometimes use, all the other firms seem awful - haven't changed at all in 20 years aside from text messages, like to pretend getting a message to the driver is harder than contacting the ISS, etc.

Now, if they could just improve their employment issues...

It sounds like Amazon is hiring the cheapest deliverymen they can find off the street.

Has anyone else had stuff delivered by AMZL_US?

Most of my packages (near the L.A. area) are delivered by them and this is definitely the case, it's just young adults in casual clothes in their crappy car.

Amazon Logistics are terrible in the UK for business deliveries.

Had to stop using Amazon completely when having stuff delivered to work.

My work address is clearly a business address on a well known Science park in Warrington. Amazon Logistics insist on trying to deliver there at 9pm, then just keep trying for 2-3 days and give up. Useless.

I can only use them for delivery to home now.

They switched to online invoices some time ago (at least in Europe. Guess it's the same in the US). Just look for the order on your order summary page and on the right should be button for it.

I live in a complex so anything but USPS deliveries are fucking annoying because they aren't allowed in the building and if they don't ring the doorbell and I don't hear their truck I'm shit out of luck.

USPS is the only delivery that is perfect because the mail person has a key to the building so they can just drop my shit at my door.

I'm pretty sure this is Amazon employees delivering stuff on their day off for extra cash

At least that's what they told my warehouse in our last big meeting

Amazon used to use a shitty company named Prestige for some Prime shipping. I wonder if they bought Prestige and renamed it because based on peoples' descriptions, it seems to be the same terrible service.

i can understand that in slow times, but people expect at least a usps level of quality.

Reading this is not filling me with much confidence considering Im even thinking about buying from Amazon for the first time ever. I'm trying to purchase some games and reading this is making me uneasy as fuck.

I'm always surprised but not surprised how shitty an American company is in the US while it's doing pretty well elsewhere.

They're doing pretty great here. Shipping companies never leave packages at the door, they always do re-delivers if no one is at home. They'd never accept a signature from a neighbor either. Threads like these make me realize how lucky I am, and how bad I feel for your shipping services and lost packages. It must be insanely annoying and frustrating. :<

I've returned many items to Amazon.com because of damage they sustained in packing or shipment. They're really really stingy with packaging and many of their employees seem to take no care when handling items either. It's bad.

This is where they just pay randoms to pick stuff up at their warehouse and deliver it, right? Like lasership

Their Amazon Fresh delivery service is pretty great

Amazon in the UK use Amazon Logistics. Only ordered once off them for Batman Arkham Knight and was a little worried that I wouldn't get it on time after reading online about them but I got it on release and quite early so no major complaints from me. That said I'd rather have had my post man deliver it, I would have gotten it a few hours earlier if he did :(

I'm in Europe and you get free delivery.

OP, keep in mind that most of these service and company review sites are full to the top of complaints, not real reviews. There are many legit services that have a 1/10 rating and 1000 complaints on some top results searches.

I had a decent experience with the service, guy was a little friendlier than usual but comparable to any other mail delivery at my apartment. Plus I made the order maybe 2-3 hours earlier through Prime Now. Would use again.

Similar deal in the u.s. A-1, logistics, and all the random services they use just have these plain clothes dudes show up and seem to barely know what they are doing. Helps explain my story above^^^

That was intentional. To get your copy of GoW 3 you have to really want it. You have to ask the universe for it. Read the book, you'll see.

I prefer USPS for generally the same reasons. They also have access to my mailbox. UPS and FedEx are generally a nuisance to deal with when living in an apartment complex.

Well, give em a chance and see how they go. Honestly, if you google'd "UPS" or "FedEx" you'd probably get more complaints because people usually only take to the internet to complain about these companies when there's a problem.

Services have expanded, though this sounds awful. I'm talking about the way they treat their employees and the shady shit they do behind closed doors.

Yup over the last couple of years Amazon have been switching to Amazon Logisitics from DPD.
DPD offered an amazing service, give you a one hour delivery window and a link to a map with real time tracking/your position in the delivery queue etc.

Amazon logistics are pretty terrible. They basically give you no tracking information at all and about half of my packages this year failed to be delivered. It reached the point that I was trying to use collect+ instead of having it delivered to my house and Amazon Logistics were still failing to find their own designated collection points.
Thankfully since moving back to Scotland from London a couple of weeks back the deliveries actually seem to arrive.

Is this why I had a package delivered by a dude in a rented Enterprise van? I was really confused.

I honestly don't understand how stuff from Amazon gets so banged up in transit. Best Buy, Hastings and other online stores I order from use those crappy gray trash bag looking things to ship games in and I've never had a single problem but some of the stuff I used to get from Amazon just looked wrecked when it arrived. Since it's the same exact people delivering it all I can figure is the damage was happening at Amazon somewhere.

Agreed!
I've never really had an issue with Amazon's shipping speed, but their packaging policies have become absolutely awful in recent years.
The last 5 things I've ordered from Amazon have all been damaged in some way, despite the fact that the damage could have been easily prevented with a few air cushions or a bit of packing paper.
However, the most frustrating thing is that many of the times I requested a replacement, the replacement item arrived in worse condition!
I've been a huge fan of Amazon for years so I really hope they can turn things back around...

All my orders from Amazon.co.jp have been great.

When I lived in Japan, I've always gotten excellent delivery service from them.

Now that I'm in California again, my deliveries are handled by USPS and OnTrac, which have been consistently good. OnTrac always delivers around the same time in the morning, and that's not a problem since someone is always home.

I did get a FedEx delivery once, and it came super late (past 9:00pm). It was a same day delivery for Bloodborne, which sucked because I had the whole day off but couldn't play until it arrived.

They still use DPD, there is no switching.

They use loads of couriers, but who they pick to deliver your parcel depends on things like the warehouse the item you're buying is in, where you're based and also how much stuff they've sent that day via particular courier and also the day it will be delivered.

At least it's not Lasership

Oddly enough, I kinda prefer if my retailer ship with Lasership. My new apartment doesn't have doorman and I'm never at my apartment during daytime. UPS does not redeliver at a time of my choosing without extra fee, I can at least plead with Lasership people to deliver late.

I've had just okay experiences with AMZN_US. Sometimes they will deliver packages like UPS and FedEx and leave packages at the gate. And sometimes they'll throw it over the gate without a care in the world and the dog gets a new chew toy for the afternoon.

Bestbuy shipped me a bluray with zero padding in a vinyl bag, it was perfect even though it was also a shit flimsy ecocase.

Amazon packages often look like someone stomped on it.

Waiting to see if Averon gets his/her package on time and as expected. I'm amused that he/she is complaining about something that hasn't even happened yet.

:lol, it's amazing that this shipping is worse than their old service using companies because that was garbage too. And people actually pay money for luxury of this, incredible. Amazon has turned to shit years ago, surprised people are so reliant on them.
