All that is fine but what about capes in CAW Mode? That's all I really want to know about along with whether they can have an import your own music feature for entrances!

Okay, here is IGN's Preview history with the "Smackdown" series going back a few years. I have noticed that every year there is hope...

IGN WWE 12 Preview

SmackDown vs. Raw is dead, and THQ's fixing the stuff you complain about.

IGN Smackdown vs Raw 11 Preview

One match is never enough to judge a Smackdown game, but WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 seems like it's set to capitalize on what worked last year

http://ie.ps3.ign.com/articles/109/1099546p1.html

IGN Smackdown vs Raw 10 Preview

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 has me very excited to play the final game. When I got my first hands-on with the title, the TV-like presentation had me jazzed, and the fact that this creation stuff is so slick is only adding to that feeling.

IGN Smackdown vs Raw 09 Preview

On the surface, the match looked and played a lot like last year's. True, Orton an 'taker looked more detailed and sharper overall, but the chairs that were around ringside still had the same satisfying steel-to-skull sound and the controls stick with the tried-and-true thumbstick format. However, as the match wore on, the little tweaks began to shine through.

IGN Smackdown vs Raw 08 Preview

After playing with the new controls ourselves we can attest that the single-button system keeps the matches fluid and fast-paced. It also helps that the new submission system is analog-based as well. How much pressure you apply and how quickly you pump your arms around someone's neck is now entirely up to you -- as is your defense to it, as escaping a grapple is handled with the analog sticks as well. All in all, it's definitely an improvement over last year's edition.

IGN Smackdown vs Raw 07 Preview

What we did see was some extremely impressive visuals and the kind of action wrestling fans have grown to love from the Smackdown series.

Forget Edge/Foley, if you're looking for someone who stole the show Wrestlemania weekend, look no further than THQ.

IGN Smackdown vs Raw 06 Preview

Officially known as WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 (a title meant to reflect its new direction towards a sports and simulation feel), the new game from Yuke's Media Creations and the Toy Headquarters is undoubtedly the most ambitious game in the series so far. The brand new momentum system, the addition of attributes like Stamina and Hardcore, improved reversal mechanics, enhanced online features, and a host of other cool improvements are just a few of the several-dozen extras planned for this year's wrestling extravaganza.

IGN Smackdown vs Raw Preview

WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW is getting ready to hit the PS2 like a ton of bricks this fall. Easily one of the most, if not the most, anticipated sports game to come out this year, SmackDown! vs. RAW could very well have sales in the same unbelievable range as the previous entries in the series.

IGN Smackdown Here Come The Pain Preview

WWE Smackdown! is quickly shaping up to become one of the greatest wrestling games ever made. Normally a statement that's met with a great deal of skepticism, the claim that THQ's fifth interpretation of the UPN television show can pull off such a feat is quickly becoming more and more accepted in the hardcore wrestling community.

IGN Smackdown Shut you Mouth Preview

We'll have to wait much longer for everything to come out in the wash, but most of what we saw today seemed fairly promising.

IGN Smackdown Just Bring It Preview

WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It is a respectable effort from THQ and Yuke's.

http://ie.ps2.ign.com/articles/165/165128p1.html

IGN Smackdown Know you Role Preview

THQ delivered gameplay last time, and now they've delivered almost all the trimmings to go with it, including a very complete, up-to-date roster and a much-improved create-a-wrestler mode.

IGN Smackdown Preview

With incredible graphics and a plethora of cool features, WWF Smackdown is, far and away, the best wrestling game on PlayStation.

Sweet, so match types that were already in game code but hidden are selectable! What an inclusion!

Otherwise looks the same as last year with different pinfall and submission systems, which were badly needed.

I love how some of these features existed in past iterations, and gets brought back up again as if it's something new

The changes to reversals sounds interesting though

Even with much more powerful systems, still way short of the options at the end of last gen.

Seems like this is the new route sports games are taking.
This route is old as hell. Madden 06 for 360 burned the shit out of me. Season mode and exhibition. That was it.

Seth Rollins' entrance is so lifeless, and the commentary still refers to players as "this superstar"

lol
You're going to get the same lines till they remove king and Cole for Byron and someone else like booker. I don't understand how after all these years the commentary is the most unnatural part of the package.

All that is fine but what about capes in CAW Mode? That's all I really want to know about along with whether they can have an import your own music feature for entrances!

They can't. That's a PS4 issue.

MLB The Show did not have it either.

I won't trust the vids based on the IGN player but they did look really choppy. The IGN player does that though.

Pretty much everything I expected. Rest holds are an interesting addition. I'm not sure I like that. Same with the limited stock of reversals. I see what they are going for but it could get frustrating.

I don't know why people complain about chain grapple when it can easily be turned off. You don't like it, don't use it.

I am probably one of the few glad they are going more sim.

At least they are changing the terrible reversal system which has been one of the biggest problems I have with the WWE games (hope this one works better)

Start with a limited amount of reversals that regenerate over time when you use them.

Also the ability to pick when to counter a move. At the start of a move or a more difficult mid move counter, which will cost you two reversals, but the effects can be debuff your opponent in a variety of ways and give you time to turn things around.

Also glad they are adding back in cut features, it should feel more like a full game again this year.

Now if they can just make the tables and ladders fun and actually usable again, then we are in business. Oh and make the CAW stuff load faster, because 2K15 load times were shit, even just swapping parts took forever to load in, making CAW a pain to use.

They should just take a year off or give it to another team for 1 year while jukes works on 1- A new graphic engine
2- Take out all the bullshits that slow the gameplay and make it funnier and simpler like the old days

Good lord- they kept that horrible chain grapple, find the hotspot shit still in there?! Gah! Get rid of it! We need a major engine overhaul!

Not enough time to design the menu images.

I don't actually know, but they were in the there in the game code and were even booked in Universe and MyCareer modes... You just couldn't pick them.

That's strange. Might've been that they ran out of development time or something and were left unfinished

I'll go out on a limb here and say that they're meant for the people who like the WWE and people who like wrestling in general...
I like both and I think these games are lazy and poorly made.

Some people stick with it year to year though, God bless them.

No offense, but who is the public these games are meant for?

I have fun with them every year.

I can sit down and play Fire Pro on my PS3 and this on my PS4 and get some enjoyment out of both for different reasons.

Weird addition but it looks like the ring announcer will be sitting ring side.

So now you have JBL, Cole, King and Lillian hogging resources?

Looks lifeless. I was so happy when 2K took this on from THQ but man Yuke's suck. I wish another studio would give it a shot.

It's not a Yukes thread without BoboBrazil. >(

I have a lot of fun with these games every year despite their issues so I'll be getting this one as well, but that Balor entrance looks really, really off for some reason.

It's like they strive to be exactly one iteration of commentary teams behind at all times. I bet JBL's voice clips are mostly from when he was a commentator in SvR 2008 too.

After last year's screenshots, I look at these new screenshots and just see "These are the character models we actually put time into, while making the rest look like trash."
