No it doesn't mean that they're trying to attract pedophiles... I never said that. There's no reason to discuss the motivations of someone opting for a more childlike appearance... they may just simply think it looks cute.. that's up to them. A videogame character isn't making any personal choices though. Everything is by deliberate design. And honestly, it really isn't an issue... as you said it's not a real person we're discussing. However, if that were a real person (and there was absolutely no verification of the age), then I'd be very surprised if we were having this same discussion right now.
It's not about outrage culture... I'm not outraged by it. The character just looks very unambiguously childlike, and am surprised how vehemently this is argued as being unintentional or only a result of the character being "petite". Yes, it's down to my perception of the character, but the designers knew how the character would be perceived... and that perception is a result of comparing the character to those I see irl with similarly traits. Much like how adding wrinkles to a character will cause me to perceive them as old. There are some exceptions... but a character designer knows what they're creating.
That's fine, I find people who would fap to Marie...interesting, but who gives a damn? These are not real women.
It's like those controversial sex games like Rapeplay, sure the premise is horrid but if it gives people an outlet for their desires without hurting anyone, why judge?

Nobody is disagreeing with you that you can find lolicon characters gross. They are disagreeing with the fact you think X character is one when she's not, or other various arguments that you refuse to hear.
I don't remember who said that first in the thread, but monetization adjustements would actually be a good point. Only "risque" things apart from that are Marie Rose (cf this thread and others...) and pole dancing (but it may not even be in the JP version too). Even the Venus swimsuit has already been done as DLC in DOA5.

I was trying to justify why I think Marie Rose is clearly a seriously underage character. Instead I get flooded with demands that I justify why I like a certain anime. I get hassled for not having expert knowledge of senran kagura (WHICH I WAS DEFENDING MOSTLY!).

However were talking about a different culture here who have different beliefs and morals from you or myself.
But the main thing to take away here is that it's a game. However the character is portrayed is by the eye of the beholder.
In real life, some people do look far younger than they appear to be.
Edit: I think the age varies across Japan from 12 to 21.

Mirai is one of the most (if not the most) popular characters in the series, anyone that played a single one of them or keep up with the news of the series is aware of that regardless of what they think about the gothic lolita movement and portrait of such in videogames.

I strongly disagree. While Honoka definitely looks young she's also taller, less thin and has an overall more developed body that looks like young woman instead of preteen girl like Marie.
They're both sexualized to hell and back but one looks like a young woman while the other looks like a preteen-early teens girl.

Honoka is not Marie with bigger boobs. I said in an earlier post: her face is not as child-like, she's taller, fatter (as in not a body of a child thin), wider hips, thighs and, yes, breasts. You wouldn't confuse her for a 15 year old. Marie you'd sure as hell do.

Actually Team Ninja added proper asses in DOA5 wity Lady Kstoute and Honoka, in this one some characters are hinted to get better asses as well.
Also folks when he says 'adjusted' he's covering his ass. He's looking to change the least amount of things. One such adjustment is just the box cover. Oneechanbara Z2 chaos had a censored box and nothing in the game was 'adjusted'

As I've said numerous times before, I don't have a problem with cheesecake, but I totally understand the sentiments of people that will view this as more imbalanced sexualization of female characters in gaming, and I wouldn't disagree with them.
But there are multiple ways to address this situation. While it should be extremely obvious that we need to see a great deal more female representation in gaming that does not focus prominently on their sex appeal (this would hopefully go without saying, but sadly that's not the case), another way to make things more appealing is to increase sexualization of the male characters as well. When you have a roster of attractive men and women, but choose to only overtly sexualize the female characters, then that's a problem. Wanna have a game about sexy swimsuits on the beach? Cool, go for it, just make one that everyone can enjoy or don't be surprised when you get negative feedback for ignoring your stable of impossibly attractive dudes just because you're worried they won't look "cool" anymore.

This is the same Tecmo Koei that had no problems releasing Dead or Alive 5 with Beach Party costumes that were comprised of nothing more then hotpants jeans with a Topless body with conveniently placed suspenders or Hawaiian Leis.

I'm kinda wondering what the fuck they could be putting in the game that would require adjustment. DOA5 came over just fine and has outfits that are just strips of cloth covering almost nothing.
But they pleaded with people not to release nude mods, despite them developing it in the first place! PLEASE! WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE TECMO!?
