For you.
It would have to subvert the "can't create negative memories" somewhat, but I think the easiest explanation is that Mr Poopy Butthole getting shot was itself a false memory, by the same parasite as Mr Poopy Butthole. Note how we never see him die. Maybe it's a setup to him forgiving her later, and thus becoming a trusted and no one suspecting a parasite.

Yeah, so great.

watch the after-credits scene :p

Mr. Poopybutthole was shot in the side. From what I recall, all confirmed parasites were shot in the head. Maybe the reason why PB did not reveal himself as a parasite is just because he was not fatally wounded?

Not all were shot in the head.

Also, Rick wouldn't have said "I'm just going to start shooting people in the arms" when he decided he couldn't tell who was who.

So I started watching Rick and Morty a couple of weeks ago and marathoned the whole series. IT IS FUCKING BRILLIANT. I've since bought the blu-ray, watched season 1 multiple times, and I am currently up to date on season 2. Life of Roy was great lol. The opening for the most recent episode was amazing.

The fact that Mr. Poopy butt wasn't an alien, even though all inclinations would have the audience believe that he was, had me like

Mr. PB is this guy:

Please using Mr. Poopybutthole's full name. Thank you.

Oh man, you're RIGHT. I knew there was a reason it was bugging me! Do... do ya think they did it on purpose so people would be compelled to use his full name? I wouldn't put it past them in the slightest. Timing and demographic wise, it's brilliant. And they do love their crossovers/timelines/AUs. Hahaha! Amazing.

lol, it's probably just a coincidence, or at best something that started as an accident.

It was obvious at least that Rick was yelling at everyone for something that was his own fault

Was this episode also a parody and critique on Family Guy? Family Guy is known for it's flashback scenes that make little to no sense, usually with some fanciful person or creature, and have nothing to do with the narrative of the episodes main story.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I thought this episode was riffing on the skit episode of Season 1. That's what it felt like to me.

Oh and the way things happen "off screen" in sit coms.

I wouldn't want Morty to have been replaced several times already. This universe's Rickiest Rick and his Morty is the Mortyiest Morty. The episode where Rick is having his memories taken, and he tears up seeing memories of his time with Morty, wouldn't have the same impact.

Also the Morty in the beginning of the opening definitely looks like he dies lol.

That AV Club article made a good point in suggesting that it's probably a parody of clip shows. Still, I got a pretty strong Family Guy "Zany Cutaways" vibe from it myself, so my guess is this was pointed in Family Guy's direction to an extent, even if Family Guy wasn't the primary target.

Justin Roiland on Mr. Poopy Butthole.
Q: So to be clear, Mr. PB is NOT a parasite? There are fan theories that the end sequence is a parasite memory by Mr. PB
A: he's real and beloved. They can create bad memories. Shooting someone would be bad.

@JustinRoiland So how come we haven't seen Mr. Poopybutthole until Total Rickall if he's supposedly real?
there just haven't been any stories with him. He's been around though!

Interesting
pastelknees asked:
we're going to see more of evil morty, right? because i see something big coming in season 2 with lots of stuff that will literally kill everyone in the fandom ;o;

OH BOY YOU GUYS ARE GONNA FREAK OUT.
#the season finale is amazing #season 2

Wait, people thought they weren't from him? Thought his entire thing about Summer and pink eye was to let himself off the hook since other people had gotten everyone sick as well.

Aw common, I didn't need to know that last part. Seriously, people stop asking them questions and just lets watch the show to see if things get resolved on their own.

Really? Pretty lame if they actually say he's been around the entire time.

He's probably not Rick's original Morty, though. Don't forget that Beth said she hasn't seen him in 30(?) years so no way was he around for Morty's birth.

never left the stone age
It would be the highest level of trolling if they went back to the first three episodes and actually inserted Mr. Poopybutthole for the re-runs :lol

Seeing as
they previously basically said it WASNT happening this season
? And even if it was something obvious, I'd still rather not be spoiled. It's the same reason I don't watch episode previews.

Its a finale. Could be that they show something important in the after-credits scene. Would suck yeah but with that everyone was right.

Whatever it is. I will watch it anyway with or without spoilers. Because im hyped as fuck for every new episode. So no damage done. There could be bigger spoilers.

Giving this show a 2nd chance now that Season 1 is over and am enjoying it despite some of the things that happen to poor Rick.

The episode with the alien con-group was great IMO.
