I assume that's why they remove things from the wheel. I think someone watched them and decided there's just not enough material there.

i suppose that is possible, but i think they do it to keep the wheel fresh as well.

things can come back, i would guess... i have a feeling we've seen that happen already

The lack of Jessi could be attributed to them mostly working on Space-Cop. Her regular duties are as a producer of the videos and of all the merch and shipping. Since they are in post-production, they don't need her as much.

I don't care if it's staged or real. As long as it's entertaining. If it was always 100% real, it would be completely boring if we got three shitty tapes like we almost did. There was no content in that dog video. Rich was smart. And they knew everyone wanted to see the clown video.

I'm also glad they did the weird America Online for Internet video. It was so strange. Like, was it distributed in America but translated for any Chinese people living here? Or did they actually have AOL in China? I want to think it's the former which explains the English on-screen text. AOL 2.5 was our first AOL too. (Well after about a day or two with 2.0.)

I think Jack said in that interview I mentioned earlier that there's a "lost" WotW episode in bits and pieces on RLM hard drives, because they picked three duds that day, and they couldn't even save the episode by going back for a fourth movie, and then they went off to the roundtable and tried to get a conversation going about something, but they had nothing to work with, and then they wasted a bunch of time trying to save it in editing, but it was a hopeless lost cause so they killed it and moved on.

That would've wiped four contenders off the Wheel, without explanation. And it probably explains things like their occasional Wheel refresh. If they kick everything off and replace them with all-new videos, then they don't have to explain why certain movies disappeared.

I think they generally make three honest spins, but they spin at the start of the day's shooting, they don't space them out between viewings. If they need a fourth spin, I think that one comes if and when they need it, because they don't always need a fourth spin. For this episode, they straight-up cheated and grabbed "the clown one" because everything else was a dud today. Rich might have honestly been the one who said "fuck it" and resorted to drastic measures (which were appropriately staged) because he's the one who refused to accept that anything in this episode was worthwhile (while the others were somewhat satisfied with the improvised gay jokes).

You think in wotw 7 josh randomly attacking Jay to steal the 3rd spin leading to an eventual 4th spin which lands on dog sitter which was one of the two Jay wanted was completely genuine?

Or that the wotw was about to land on sos and then for no reason randomly started spinning the opposite direction until it got to cleared for take off leading sos to miraculously be the final film?

Or that after landing on the florence henderson video their rage/depression spin lands on the Shoji Tabuchi show the most requested video ever?

Or them acting like the wheel landed naturally on American Flatulators when Jessi forced it to stop was extremely good improv acting from these hack frauds?

Nah I think there is a genuine mixture of both aithentic spins and staged spins leading to the show we see. When there is tons of cuts during the actual spinning of the wheel and we rarely can see the rlm guys in frame until after the wheel stops I have a hard time finding the wheels spin results to truly be random. There's just too many amazing coicidences for what we see to be 100% genuine 100% of the time.

It took them months to get the Shoji Tabuchi show. MONTHS!

I feel that, these days, its more staged then not. These people don't seem particularly time-rich. They need to produce a certain amount of content within a certain amount of time and with a 'truly' random Wheel of the Worst there's the potential for them to lose hours and hours of time for nothing.

But as Jack has said before, they've actually lost an entire episode because the 3 movies (and a fourth one out of desperation) they got were absolutely terrible. It might be more staged now, there's no way to know for sure, but that pretty much proves that at least at one time they went with the movies the wheel chose for them.

I think people genuinely think they left a camera on the wheel running all day just in case Rich got up and grabbed the grief clown video. That wasn't staged at all!

And it's weird how people need to believe the wheel is real... it's about as real as Jay and Mike being VCR repair men. :p

Even if it's staged, it's not like they know what they're watching. It'd just mean they're choosing the movies instead of leaving it to chance.
In the video they even talk about pre-selecting movies that go on the wheel at least. What I don't get is why they'd keep the AOL video and not the dog video, since they pretty much had nothing to get out of that discussion other than playing the "we don't understand foreigners" card.

Meh, again, seems like a lot of effort for very little reward.
If they really wanted to just "stage" it they could just skip the wheel part entirely and pick 3 movies that interest them like they do in BotW.

i dont know what sort of work is involved in leaving a tape box taped on the wheel.

production is never "easy" so i don't know how much more work you think they are putting into doing these things you say they arent doing when its quite the opposite to have total control over the production.

just because they frame it with the narrative that its a bunch of people watching stuff, its essentially a reality show. Real discussion/reactions in a constructed and fake wrapper. There is a clear difference in what is going on in the wheel/introduction scenes and the discussion/reaction scenes, and has everything to do with how much control they have over what goes on in front of the camera

that people are fooled and it is ambiguous is a testament to how well the show is generally edited/constructed. you're not really meant to know and it is meant to sell you on the idea that everything is real and how they present it, when it isn't.

Or it could have been something like

Rich "These videos suck. You wanna watch the clown video?"

Jay "Sounds good. Let's shoot the part where you grab the video"

Usually they have a story about these kinda things in their wednesday streams.
The one that comes closest to them "staging" is the episode with Len where they put the videos they wanted to watch behind Rich and Jack's faces because they thought Len would most likely punch through their faces and not Jesse's.

I mean we've already known they've fucked around with the wheel before.

They had people moving the wheel after the fact and making a joke. They're just more transparent when it's a movie that fans have wanted them to watch for a while

I think they spin with the full intention of watching and using what ever videos they land on. But they're smart and not afraid to spin again or just grab the video they actually want if what they're actually watching is awful, useless crap.

I mean, why would they actually watch that AOL video in korean if they didn't have to?

Anyone want a little grief counseling with that whine?

Nobody in the world will convince me this makeup wasn't made to look like a skull. The nose, and then the mouth itself is painted so that it specifically looks like the teeth of a skull, complete with the creases on the side.

That's because it is. I mean, clown makeup in general is supposed to resemble a skull and look kind of macabre. Beats me why we decided to entertain children with clowns, lol.

I wished they left the tape "Art of the Business Lunch" on the wheel.

Haha, me too.

Why are you guys talking about rigging a wheel with videos on it? You're all so weird.

Now let's get back to talking about the personal lives of complete strangers on the internet that we enjoy who watch bad movies and make us forget about our own terrible existences.

Episode was... ok. Not great, not terrible. Just ok. Prank call was a bust, the second video was just an elongated gay joke, and the last one had its moments. Best things in the episode were from Colin, and the opening/vfx stuff where rhyme nor reason where tossed out the window with no regard to sanity. Maybe I was expecting worse, but it felt like an OK episode. Not my least favorite BotW episode, but bottom ten, probably. I've never thought to rank BotW episodes.

"SHOW ME WHAT YOUR RAINBOW IS!!"

I died laughing during that segment. Just everything about Eloise Cole cracked me up, morbid as it was.

"Eloise Cole was a woman who had experienced a lot of pain that she wanted to share with others."
"We tried hooking your baby up to turtles...that didn't work."

I wish they left a lot of stuff on the wheel.

They had this gem on the wheel at some point and I was sad, when it disappeared.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090601/

It was even CHOSEN BY THE WHEEL(!), but Mike pushed it to the next movie instead. No wonder that Space Cop movie is never getting done.

They better not start talking shit about Bud Spencer (and/or Terence Hill) movies. Those guys are legends in Europe.
Their movies might not have been all that amazing and probably haven't aged well, but I'd feel bad seeing them on BotW.

finally got around to watching wotw 9

sometimes what they choose is just not very good, unfortunately. nothing really stood out i guess but the clown thing was pretty hilarious. the stunt one was okay as well.

it must be hard having to edit some of these episodes when there's not a whole lot to have that is funny

My favourite RLM video is by far the BOTW with Deadly Prey, Hard Ticket To Hawaii and Miami Connection. Literally laughed til I cried while watching it. Every segment is outstanding.

Cancer infested rats.
Friends Through Eternity.
Shooting a blow-up sex doll with a bazooka.

Every movie is a classic.

Fuck it, I'm gonna watch again right now.

Just got around to the new WotW. Probably the darkest stuff they've done. Impressed they pulled so much out of what appeared to be clunker / depressing picks.

I highly doubt they take the time to pre screen stuff, and really who cares if they do?

In no particular order

- ending of blood debts
- tales from genesis space "im never spinning the wheel again"
- sos revelation of wtf it was
- low blow head turned into a cake
- paranormal activity universal ride
- a haunted house 2 review

I see others here are asking about Jessi, which is why I came into this thread. I noticed she has been missing, so I did a bit of searching for information. I ended up finding a Facebook account that appears to be here, which states that she is still in a relationship with Mike, and her cover photo features the two of them. There you go--I did the creeping for you.

You are the disgusting obsessed internet man-child we need :)

Also I love these small videos they do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avXZVgzLP68

Kinda easy to miss when I mostly have BotW and HitB playlists autoplaying in the background.

And as far as best bits go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caKcJ9Jllfc&t=18m28s

I was thinking how the last Wheel of the Worst would have made a good Halloween episode, with the Death Clown.

But then I remembered how slow they're releasing stuff this year, and realize it probably IS the Halloween episode.

What is more likely is that the BotW episode they said they are shooting this Sunday is the Halloween episode. Shoot it exactly two months before the release and maybe they'll have time to edit it if the kinda half ass it.

EDIT: Grumpy top of the page post. I'm setting the tone, guys!
