PS Camera Redeemed. Until Dawn's use of this is brilliant

Are there any other games that has a feature like this?

Basically Supermassive uses the playstation camera in a way that is mindblowingly awesome. Obviously Until Dawn is a horror jump scare game... a very fine one at that, what really has me mindblown is my short time with the game, is that it utilizes the ps camera in a way that starts recording without you knowing a few seconds before one of there jump scares.

They then super lay that with gameplay and you can then watch the reactions.

to me its genius. I've never had seen this feature before, I think its awesome,

I'll only post the first. spoiler alert for a couple seconds:

Didn't Burnout have a crash cam similar to this.

Until Dawn sounds pretty awesome. I wasn't going to get it but I'm leaning more and more towards jumping in soon

Not completely sure if I remember it correctly.

I think it used it for online, it would take a picture of you and then post to your opponents as a "mugshot" (if you lost) or "smugshot" (if you won).

Doesn't a light come on when it's recording? If so, that's kind of a heads up to the player that a jump scare is near.

Neat feature either way.

That's amazing. Gonna keep this to myself and when we play through I can't wait to see my wife's and friends reactions.

Time to dust off my camera.

I too like how Until Dawn used it

But I would argue that the PS Camera didnt need redeeming, I tune in to Live With PlayStation every weekend for my comedy fix

Some Kinect games does that so that's not something new. Still fun to watch people's reactions like this. :) As someone mentioned having this feature for P.T. would be awesome and funny.

While I haven't used the camera for this specific game yet, usually the light is on as long as you have the camera channeling audio as a mic, not necessarily when you're straight up recording anything, so if you're using it as the camera/mic to stream or something, the light is on the whole time. In that case, it actually recording wouldn't be too apparent. Like I said though, I haven't used it with this game, and I'm not sure what the functionality is like when you're not streaming or intentionally recording. I'd imagine it's just on all the time while playing, but only actually records key moments.

I've been playing a friend and it is pretty hilarious to replay our reactions! Super cool mechanic, and would like to see this in more horror games.

This is a sweet feature. More companies need to use it better...heck at least put some voice commands or some jazz in it!
Wipeout on Vita already did this.
Well, now I may be splitting hairs...but in Wipeout, you take a picture of your face before a race with others (which you only see if you took a picture, people that didn't take one can't see your face). Which to me seems a little different than recording reactions to a scare, then laying the scare video over the gameplay.

But y'know, potato/ tomato.

Starfox 3ds, on the other hand, had this feature in multiplayer.

Im thinking this thread might be a bit of a spoiler. I mean, if you know its recording you, the reactions wont be as genuine. Not complaining, just saying.

Does the game inform you of this before you start?

I'm not sure what I am suppose to be looking, the game records your reaction along with the gameplay segment you are reacting to ?

If so then that's a neat feature but hardly something that redeems the camera as it has no gameplay implications, not like Morpheus. Plus PS camera is an ok accessory if you want to stream and don't have a separate streaming setup.

I wish I had a camera to try this. I was playing last night and was pretty over tired, ad I know I overreacted to every jump scare.

The eyes through the binocular's in the beginning I know got me good.

So without your knowledge or consent a camera starts recording your living room\whatever for a few seconds at a time multiplied by the many times the game has those jump scares.

Its in the settings, I remember seeing it before I played the game. I always go through the settings first before any game I play

It is off by default. You have to go into the options and turn the feature on.

I actually forgot about the feature, and played the game for a bit fresh out of the shower. My last cheap shot was rather.... wangrific.

You have to choose to turn the feature on in the settings.

Honest question as I don't own a PS4 (might get one later) but, outside of PS Home and now this does anything else really make use of it?
