Tearaway Unfolded |OT|

Yeah, that's what I was referring to? But I wasn't sure if it displays for everyone because it doesn't show up for me or my friend at all in that panel, just lists one Community called "Teraway" for both of us. Even before she joined it.
Once you click on the communities panel, it will send you to the communities page. There is a "popular" section, click on that and it will give you all the communities created for the game starting with the most members.

The more optimistic way of looking at Tearaway's existence is being grateful that Sony is still willing to continue supporting whimsical franchises like it (as well as Ratchet, Sly, and Puppeteer) despite weak sales numbers and an overall aversion by the vast majority of modern gamers.

I really hope they continue to bury their heads in the sand and allow Sanzaru to continue with Sly.

One thing I've always liked about Sony as a publisher is that they fund a lot of creative, interesting and original games. It's a large part of why I've been a PlayStation fan since about 1998. They're continuing this really well in the digital age, with a lot of unusual games that I find far more interesting than the typical 'Triple-A' releases.

Played the first hour or so tonight. Was charming on the Vita and it's charming here. Also beautiful. Man, I'd forgotten how beautiful this game is.

Still at least 65€ in all German online shops including Amazon which doesn't even have stock and says it'll take 2-4 weeks. What?

This release snuck up on me, won't be buying for a while because my finances are a bit tied up for the moment, hopefully by the time I buy it it's a bit cheaper.

I loved the vita version, one of my favorite games from 2013.

I share this sentiment. Assuming you've played--and adored--Puppeteer, right?

Well said, and I absolutely agree. It is why if I had to choose for whatever reason, I would go with Sony as well. They just seem to take a bit more risk in what they back.

I played probably around 3 hours of Tearaway on the Vita, but I can't find the card for it -- I'd be interested in picking up this version, it seems priced reasonably, how does it vary from the Vita version? Does it work well on a gamepad?

Read the quotes in the OP :)

I'm torn on this.. adored the Vita game, it was in my top 3 for that year, but after seeing this version in action I'm not sure I really need to play it again. Better than nothing for those without a Vita, still gorgeous and charming, but something seems lost in the translation with those new mechanics and padding. Also watched the GB Quick Look and making papercraft with the touch pad looked like a nightmare, but that seems like a thing I'd have to try myself to be sure. Will grab the demo at the very least.

Played a bit of the demo last night, much more enjoyable than the Vita version. Just didn't like the rear touchpad at all.

Holy shit!

This went from being a must-have game on the Vita, to a must-have game on the PS4. SO glad I got this and supported MM twice!

The game looks GORGEOUS in 1080p on my high-def screen. Playing with the DS4 is more comfortable than using the Vita. And the new implementations are really neat and you can easily see where the new content feels like more of the same great innovations that the devs are known for and not just tacked on bullshit for a remaster. This is a completely new package.

ALSO, that second screen function guys! If you're using your phone or tablet, you can import any photos that are on your devices into the game and work with them to create decorations on your Messenger!

I already cut out a picture of a white DS4 and pasted it onto the back of the Journey cape!

THIS GAME, GUYS! THIS FUCKING GAME! YES!

For those who already played the game, does it feel like an upgraded Vita version or does it have enough new stuff there (specially story-wise) to make it feel unique?

How does the game look? Can you tell is a vita port or because of the art style it hides it better

As I said somewhere else, best IQ I've ever seen in a console game. Only seen as good of IQ on a really high end PC able to handle all the MSAA, AF and supersampling you can throw at it. There is not a single thing happening on screen that shouldn't be happening.

Game looks phenomenal. The paper effect is very well done. The screen is filled with moving objects and life. Just a really well done presentation.

Gamefly just shipped my copy so maybe will get it Saturday or Monday. Can't wait!!!! My daughter absolutely loves the demo

Yep, I really liked Puppeteer. Just a shame that it was a PS3 release when really they should have aimed for it to be a PS4 launch title. I didn't finish it as I 'retired' my PS3 as soon as I got a PS4, but it's one I intend to revisit and hopefully finish some day.

I really wish Sony would sort out backward compatibility as well, so I could finish up Dark Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur, Puppeteer, Ni No Kuni, etc. I'd much rather play through these using the Dual Shock 4 and without having to set my PS3 up every time.

Is the camera enabled on the demo? Taking a macro photo of yourself can show just how crisp the image is. Sadly no screenshot will do it justice, at least until 3.0 and PNG.

Went to go pick this up today, Manager at the Gamestop didn't even know it existed or was out. He checked the inventory and they ended up only getting 2 copies of it and none were purchased till I got there. Anyways, can't wait to dive in, I bought Tearaway on Vita, but never got around to playing it.

OK I entered the Crafted Edition code and I got no soundtrack. It still shows I have to buy the soundtrack for $11.99. What gives?

Yes that is what I'm talking about. If I go into the communities for the game only one community shows up and it's not the one I made. I already submitted a bug report on the beta forum. So I'm not sure if it's displaying like that for everyone or not but I am aware of the intended functionality, thank you!

I'm feeling antsy because I really want to play more but my fiancé wants to watch and so I have to wait for her...

I'm still trying to figure that out myself, I'm pretty sure that's happening to everyone, unfortunately...

I played the demo last night but I didn't have my camera connected. I felt like the game was missing something. I will try again with the camera tonight. On the vita this game always put a smile on my face. It's a special game

I encourage all to atleast finish the demo...

Imo the demo starts off slow, bland, devoid of color, action, lack of music.... But you can see how the game really unfolds once you start banging drums, jumping, and dancing to the folky music

Terrible to hear this.

The manager was too hyped for the latest Call of Duty to drop no doubt to even care about this

I have downloaded the gamersyde videos and it looks great, 1080p, 60fps and very high quality AA, image quality is very very good, no sign of aliasing.

Just some quick impressions, as someone who played the game on vita and loved it (enough to get the platinum even): If you are one of those people who has lamented the death of the 3D platformer, you owe it to yourself to buy this. It is by far one of the most imaginative and creative games released this generation on any platform. The aesthetic is beautiful and permeates everything, it os simultaneously the visual style and the rules and concept that inform the world and the gameplay. Everything is paper, everything looks and behaves as paper would, and this core concept is what ties all of the mechanics together. You fold down strips of paper with gusts of wind to create platforms, you rip paper open to access new areas, etc. Due to this unified aesthetic the world is very convincing and you really feel transported into a place separate from our own, in the best way.

It also marries the charming aesthetic and presentation with quality core gameplay and platforming challenges. It fluctuates between being a course-focused platformer and exploratory platformer in the best way, with each location usually focusing on one aspect or the other. You'll spend an equal amount of time walking around and enjoying the environment as you will performing tight, challenging platforming sections, and they are equally as engaging. While occasionally a puzzle or section with be obtuse or fall flat, the overall experience is high quality.

As for the new content, there are a variety of sections from the original game that have been retooled for the new controls, as well as some sections that are completely original that usually showcase tools not present in the original release. As a whole, every area is bigger, more open, and contains more secrets and collectibles. However, the game still maintains its relative linearity, and never feels overwhelmingly open. It's just enough freedom so that you don't feel constrained, while always gently pushing you towards the next location or event. There are some pacing issues that come from inputting new areas where there were none in the original release, but I feel that these are only obvious to people who have played the original. If this is your first time with the game, I doubt you will notice. I do think the game loses something by not having the touch controls (something I never thought I would say about a game), but if you never experienced the way touch was implemented the first time around, you won't miss it.

Ultimately, I urge anyone who has an interest in platformers, games with unique aesthetics, or charming and colorful games to give this one a shot. You will not regret it, and it is most definitely worth the $40 price of admission.

Can you expand on that? What isn't clicking with you?

I'm not keen on the art style, and the delivery of the narrators was an immense turn-off. I'll admit I only played it for about 20 minutes or so but I got bored of shining light on things to progress. I looked at some footage of later levels and they didn't seem particularly interesting. I understand that it was made as a Vita vehicle and that it's bound to lose some of its appeal when moving to a format which lacks its features, but I was disappointed all the same.
