Yes !!! I will be able to play this with my Hori stick (for x-box) on my computer .
If they could bring DoDonPachi Saidaioujou or Espgaluda 1/2 next that would be awesome.

Anything they will release I will get it anyway :p

Cave shooters? On PC? It's still weird reading that.

Mushihimesama is about as good of a pick as anything to start with, between the overall quality of the game and its difficulty curve.

Honestly, any X360 or PS4 stick should work without issues on a PC nowadays, and most of them use identical parts. I know there are some specific preferences for buttons and sticks for shumps, but you can worry about that down the road (and they're relatively easy to swap out, anyway).

choose your PCB wisely though :
www.teyah.net/sticklag/results.html

As for MHS, it's great they start with such a great 360 region locked port, game is also quite difficult but as beginner mode... (Deathsmiles 1-2, MHS Futari and Espgaluda are still a better entry point to Cave shmups, IMHO though)

Mushihimesama HD with all the improvements and other things? You bet I'll get that one.

I hope they manage to get the same slowdowns as the arcade versions.

THIS.

already own every limited editions on 360, will get on sale probally since I'm still to get a gaming PC (I don't even have a Steam account tbh...got Crimson Clover on GOG though, I think.)

The soundtrack I can see but locking modes behind a DLC wall is silly considering how old the game is.

(Buying anyway)

Not sure what you mean, PCB came out in may 2011 and was sold for 2 days on Cave Shop only.(was more than 1500€ I think)
(DLC was free for 1st print jp 360 ver.)

kinda baffled me when ppl argued about 1200MSP for Futari Black Label DLC (or jp Deathsmiles MBL DLC) when PCBs of those modes only retail for 1000€+ ...

Hey everyone! Really glad to see that you're excited for Mushihimesama on PC.

Some more information about this announcement:

This game is based on the X360 version, "Mushihimesama HD". It includes 360 Mode, Novice, and Arrange Modes.

Replay sharing has been added for this version, so that's something new.

1.5 Mode will be available as optional DLC. This was the best way we could figure to do this, since it was previously a very exclusive mode for 1st edition versions of the game.

Saw some concerns about price: Remember, this is Steam we're talking about here. It's going to be on sale sooner or later ;).

The game is also very friendly to new players, so don't let that discourage you if you're worried about difficulty. The mechanics are intuitive and the game includes a very gradual difficulty curve, spanning several modes and difficulty settings. A Novice mode is included.

There will probably be a live preview of this game later this week, stay tuned.

I don't think Treasure will ever port Radiant Silvergun to Steam. I'm pretty sure Microsoft has rights to the most recent port.

So... uh... is this game fun or just hard? I kinda tend to prefer shmups that aren't a complete ordeal. I guess I should skip this one.

Both!

I wouldn't really suggest using them, because I consider the challenge essential in creating the tension that keeps these games exciting, but this does include very easy novice modes to play.

Even without the Novice modes, the "Original" mode is very accessible. You won't clear it your first time through, but any decent player can make real progress over time in these games.

thank you! updated OP

Last time I played Mushihimesama was that crapfest of a PS2 port.

Managed to get to stage 4 original without losing a life.
Lost them all within seconds of each other in stage 4.

I gotta get revenge for my soul being eroded so hard all those years ago.

Sell me this game with some cool gameplay vid

ps2 mushihimesama arrange special demonstration by icarus played by smraedis

That is a joke photoshop.

It may be hard to tell the difference sometimes... Since some Cave games do throw completely undodgeable curtains of bullets at you at the very end. This is not one of those, as far as I remember.

it's not too far off tbh... the end spread of TLB on ultra is insanely dumb... and bombs render the boss invincible meaning you can only hurt it by shooting it with your shot/rapid.

Will there be a preorder
discount
?
Also, is tate mode in? I bought a monitor with pivot especially for shmups.

TATE is in the game (⌐■_■)

I don't know yet if there will be a preorder, but historically we have had launch discounts for most games.

Not a bad choice for the first release, but I just hope this doesn't turn into "let's port all the 360 games to PC." I'd like to eventually see that lost Dangun Feveron port, or a first time port for ESP Ra.De. or even an arcade perfect DonPachi/DoDonPachi. Otherwise, I don't see myself double dipping on these.

I would be OK with this lol

They said something like the games wouldn't fit the gog catalog or something along those lines if I remember correctly

The fuck? Cave shmups are pretty much the definition of "good old games". I guess arcade titles are frowned upon compared to old PC games? Weird. Would be a perfect fit for GOG.

On another note, this is one of Cave's best games and a fantastic choice for a first release. Hope Daioujou or Daifukkatsu are next *points at avatar* :p

Nice. One destined for the Steam library. I had been content with the ios variant on my old iPod Touch, but this will generally supersede that now.

Haha I regularly play Deathsmiles on my iphone it's a pretty good port but I'd triple dip if it comes to Steam.

I can understand how someone would come to the conclusion that bullet hell = hyper difficult = a painful slog, but I think this is a mistake. Games like this are actually really accessible. They're pick up and play fun... just don't expect to get a 1 credit clear at first.

"Easier" bullet hell games like Mushihimesama were the games that finally made the entire genre of shmups click for me as a newbie, several years back. The immediate thrill of weaving through bullet patterns put me in "the zone" in a way that few other shmups ever did. In fact, they were more "instantly satisfactory" to me, which is the opposite of what I believe some people think about bullet hell.

This game won't block you with difficulty. To the contrary, it invites you in and gives you a fast dose of enjoyment. You might not survive long term, but after a few moments attempting to survive waves of bullets, you will get an addictive buzz.

Mushihimesama was in fact the game that got the genre to click for me, just as you say, so happy for this announcement.

Just want to say "thanks" for these impressions; I've played some "bullet hell"ish games before and enjoyed them (DoDonPachi, Touhou) but I was just credit-feeding where I could. I'll pick this up and see if I can get the genre to click.

I paid good money for this Dynex!

It's a really good game to play for that. It was the one that got me into bullet hell in the first place.

It's also one of the easier Cave games to 1cc.

Day one purchased. Never got around to getting Mushihimesama HD on 360 due to the region lock, this is amazing news.

Thank you, Cave!
