Starwars Battlefront doesn't have voice chat on console either

Can confirm myself from the beta.

On XB1 or PS4 you have to party up in game, then party up in console OS to get voice chat.

Update:

From http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/news/go-on-a-droid-run-in-star-wars-battlefront

So, in tight and fast 6-versus-6 matches, your objective is to capture and hold all the three Droids before the 10-minute time limit is up. You’ll get help from weapon pickups but Heroes, Villains, and vehicles won’t be joining the run. Communication is vital, so let your teammates know if you've spotted a Droid somewhere, how to find it, and if there are enemy forces nearby.

Planned feature that was cut for some reason?

How are you supposed to do the almost all objective modes where "communication is vital" when you cannot communicate with your team?

As far as I know it's the only console FPS multiplayer game to not feature voice chat.

that's really stupid of them. good thing for the party function on ps4 (and I'm assuming xbox one) though but man they really didn't think that through.

People still use in game voice chat? I never hear anyone on any online games, most people are in private chat.

I get it on PC where Mumble, TeamSpeak, Ventrillo, and things like SteamChat dominate, but this strikes me as odder on console.

This is just emulating the experience properly. If the storm troopers and rebels could communicate, they wouldn't be so incompetent in the movies.

Man, what's the point of having massive team based games without the ability to communicate with your massive team?

Since party chat took off on xbox i've never heard more then a handful of people talk in online games, and when they do it's an insult or moaning about being on a poor team.

After playing the beta I think the game is suited enough to be played to a fair degree without voice chat.

It doesn't bother me a ton but as someone who usually plays randoms, I will sort of miss hearing the random thoughts and conversations that ocassionally pop up during and between matches.

Yeah I dont think Ive used a public open chat since owning a PS4.

It sucks for those that use it but it doesnt really affect me.

isn't it made so you're talking with your party friends rather than the other players in the game? like one game can have many players having closed off conversations, that's a good thing i think

Arguing with 2 year olds.

You have to wonder how bad things are when you're in an active argument with a two year old who can barely string together a coherent sentence, let alone an argument.

Why is this happening? People saying that they are okay with this apparently don't realize that there's an easily accessible way to mute people on an OS level. I still like communicating with people every now and again and the good experiences are worth having to deal with some annoying people here and there.

Absolutely asisine.

No way for me to communicate with team members who I'm not in a party with.

I don't want to have to resort to using the messaging system or having to set up new parties every match with randoms.

Silly choice, but it never seemed to work well for me in BF4 regardless.

We used party chat anyway. And fortunately, party chat can be done from the main menu of the beta, too.

Yeah, sometimes you get good comedy from it (and if not, it was not hard to mute people).

Obviously still buying though.

hey so

there are system-level parties for chat

i dont understand the moaning in this tread
Are you going to sit and add 19 other people to your friends list for every match so you can party chat with them?

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

What if I want to tell my entire team something? This is a game that requires some strategy and should have voice chat, leave it up to the players to mute idiots.

Just another reason to jump on the EA / Battlefront hate train.

Most of these people probably never talk in games or had no intention of buying the game.

Choo Choo.

My experience, played with randoms on Battlefield 3/4 on PC and Console, Destiny, CoD etc. never once even thought of putting my mic in to talk tactics with my team.
