My god even with other people I can't do this. Only one twin-humanity left, then I need to solo the boss for sure. FUCK.

Did you try the Havels armor and Iron Flesh method I mentioned? I beat several tough bosses including the boss of the DLC with it

I did not. I actually didn't see your post - Iron Flesh is a sorcery right? I have none, and didn't feel like backtracking. But I'll keep it in mind for the next set of bosses, which i hear are pretty brutal.

I'm a bit bummed I didn't beat them on my own, but at this point I just want to continue with he rest of the game. I wish there was a way to pick a boss and fight just that one in a separate mode or something, as I would like to try again at some point down the road.

Its pyromancy, and one that anyone can use since theres no level requirement (IIRC). I didnt want to back track to get it but I had to after losing to them two for so long :p

This dragon boss is harder than they are though, even iron flesh can't tank its hits. Might just have to skip it as its an optional boss but I hate giving up. No summons though!

Good to know! I'll look into it!

Optional? I think I'll pass >_>.

EDIT: It is done. Finally. The two I summoned did most of the work but fuck it I don't even care. 5 hours on one boss, wdf.

I found Kalameet to be difficult to solo, but only if you want to get the tail weapon. Since that weapon doesn't count to any of the completionist achievements, I didn't bother and breezed through him.

What technique did you use? Im finding it hard to solo cause its attacks are so strong

And congrats Tuck, that feeling is great after being stuck there awhile, I know how that was!

I don't know about technique, just a big shield, good poise and a bunch of stamina. Not to the extreme of going full Havel or anything, but like tower shield and brass set was my main gear on my steamworks playthrough.

I must not have the right plan of attack then, cause I was wearing the Guardian armor set (better than Havels in defense) and had a crest shield for his magic attacks, but could barely put a dent in his health bar. Seems a lot harder than Manus, but then again its easy enough to spam the r2 attack when you have iron flesh activated along with high def armor.

Unfortunately my pace has slowed down considerably since I started work, but I'm making progress.

Beat Great Wolf Sif last night. Took a few tries but he wasn't too bad.

Finished the first half of New Londo - lowered the water level. Super easy - with my trust long sword I only needed one hit per ghost.

I hope to reach the Four Kings tomorrow.

EDIT: Stuck on Four Kings lol. I can kill the first, never killed the second yet though (though I came very close). Using Lightning Spear +4 and Havel's Set, basically just tanking them.

EDIT: Beat em. Used up my last flask, was down to 25% health, heart pounding in my chest, but I beat em!

EDIT: Dukes Archive was a lot of fun. Now I'm in the Crystal Caves, off to do battle with another boss that will most certainly kick my butt several times.

Whatever the Jetpack Interactive branch was for Dark Souls PTDE on Steamdb, it's now been merged and is live.
There are no patch notes. I tweeted Bamco community guy JKartje about it, maybe he can shed some light on it.

Didn't test thoroughly but DSFix seems to still work here, but reports on Steam forums are a bit all over the place as usual.

Hey guys, need some help. My monitor stays black when I start the game on PC. I have tried reinstalling it without dsfix and it still remains black. I can still hear sounds and push buttons.

Does anyone know what I can do here?

Just curious, have you tried disabling ambient occlusion in DSFix? SSAO, HBAO, SCAO, whatever you're using.

After beating Bloodborne I restarted Dark Souls to finally play it through. Was somewhere in the demon ruins on my first playthtough.

Only at the gargoyles now, but it's a much "smoother" experience than the first time. Only died a handful uf times, and I'm able to use backstabbing and riposte much better now. Coop is a bitch though. 80% of summenings fail and I get invaded all the time. Well I guess I can be happy that there are still so many people playing the game.

Thanks, I found the solution. I had to delete the .ini file in the appdata folder.

Can I play this game with a DS4? Because right now when I try to the camera just spins counterclockwise the whole time.

Edit: It's working now. For anyone wondering, when using DS4Windows just check the box "Hide DS4 controller".

Next issue: Does anyone know why Widescreen Fixer isn't working anymore?

Oh okay, that's unfortunate. Hope they'll update it soon then.

Most WS mod developers don't keep up with the games on their own. If you want it updated your best bet is to go to the WSGF and find the thread and request an update.

Entered the Lost Izalith.

Demon Ruins was weird. Not really much to it besides three bosses in rapid succession.

Very rapidly approaching the endgame, but still have a few more hurdles to surmount.

EDIT: Lost Izalith was very short and easy. Bed of Chaos was a stupid boss fight, didn't like it. Off to Catacombs/Tomb of the giants.

EDIT: Catacombs/Tomb of the giants were great. Graveyard Nito was a joke.

As was Gwyn, for that matter. All you need to do is parry and he's easy as pie. Had much, much more trouble with False King Allant in DeS. Hell, had much, much more problem with Ornstein and Smaugh than any of the bosses that came after.

So, the journey is done. Incredible game. Probably will be a while before I get to play Bloodborne, as I don't have a PS4. Not sure if I'll play DS2, its gotten some mixed reactions. But I'm so happy I decided to start playing the Souls games. So much fun.

You absolutely should stil play SotFS and Bloodborne. The former isn't as connected as Dark Souls is, but the shear amount of environments and content make up for it imo. I have a gaming laptop and needed that DSfix to make it look smoother, but SotFS is like goddamn butter without any tweaking.... silky smooth and almost jarring coming from DS1.

And Bloodborne is sick, fantastic art and level designs. The combat is much more forgiving and quick so it's pretty different than DS1 or DS2 from that standpoint. But I started playing SotFS after I finished Bloodborne and throughouly enjoyed the differences.

Can anyone who has played Demons Souls tell me how hyped I should be about starting it? I managed to get a stupid cheap ps3 & DeS was under 20 bucks too, seemed like a no brainer. Whats the general conseus about how it stands versus the 1st Dark Souls?

Demon Souls is fantastic, with some insanely awesome level design that wasn't really matched anywhere in Dark Souls. World 1 and world 3 are so insanely good, you don't even know (yet).

But...

Dark Souls took the Demon Souls formula and got rid a lot of the more annoying, tedious aspects. Checkpoints in Demons Souls are much further apart than in Dark Souls. There aren't any Etsus flasks but instead the game used a consumable health potion system (which don't replenish upon death). Also, personally I found that using only a sword and a shield in Demons Souls was not nearly as feasible as in Dark Souls - some bosses are insanely hard without magic and damn near broken/trivialized with magic. That said I was still new to the series when I played the game so that was likely a factor.

With those three things in mind, and the fact that each of the 5 worlds are their own, independent identities, you're in for a great ride.

Thanks man, got me all excited. These games are best played without any media descriptions of gameplay, at least I think.

If you haven't already don't read anything about Bloodborne that would spoil lore or bosses or whatever, I went in blind except watching the trailer and it matched DS1 in terms of enjoyment even though its pretty different.

DeS should be great!

So I made a Zweihander build that owns, already rang both bells within 3 hours or so. Should I go ahead and upgrade my strength to wield the Great Club? How does its moveset compare to the Zweihander? Its only a few more strength levels than what I have right now, but I dont know if its much better.

I know people fuckin LOOOOOVE the Zweihander, and I don't hear much crazy love for the great club. So purely from a "I hear people praise it" standpoint, Zwei can carry you to end of the game probably.

zsswimmer

Yes there is definitely a lot of people who love it, for good reason cause the thing fucking owns. However the great club is 4 strength levels higher and has a better scaling letter, so I might hold on to it and infuse it later on. The zweihander is already at a +10 and stuns most enemies. Very fun playing with a strength build!

I never found ultra greatswords very fun to use. My go-to is always claymore, and anything else that has the similar moveset.

Ive always been a longsword and shield kinda guy, never had strength builds or big weapons, but the zweihander is an absolute beast of a sword. Once you learn how to play without locking on you can do some serious damage.

zsswimmer

Well.. first time at S&O with my strength Zweihander build... and easily defeated. Man I should've done something like this a long time ago, at +10 it just rips through everyone, was even stunning Smough like it was nothing.

Sorry for the triple post.. but can anyone give me some tips on how to get the Moonlight Greatsword from Seath's tail?

I made a sorcerer build specifically to wield the MGS, so I can't use any heavy weapons right now, and even several soul spears directly to his tail followed by 5+ hits with the lightning longsword+5 doesn't do the job.. and I end up getting cursed to boot :(

Be sure you're actually hitting what the game considers the "tail" and not just the butt. If you hit the tail to close to the body it actually counts as a body hit instead, so try and focus on the actual tail itself.

Good point, although I think I did hit him a good bit on the small part of his tail. Unfortunately his tail smash attack kills me in one hit so it makes the whole thing difficult as hell. I would like to try a phantom but I'm scared they'll kill him without getting the tail off and my entire character would be useless until fighting Seath again in NG+

I've returned to this game after almost 4 years because I want to finish up and retire my PS3 for good. Man, I'm really rusty and despite spending over 40 hours with the game I never really found my groove. I'm currently trying to take down Gwyndolin (having destroyed the image of Gwynevere) and got mullered when I discovered that his massive energy blast passes through columns. After doing this I think I'll return to the Demon Ruins to fight the boss, and I don't know what I'll do after that. Still finding the game challenging, despite being level 77 and having blitzed Demon's Souls five years ago. Might need to put some time into grinding to get my health up. Currently rocking a Claymore +10, which is suiting me just fine.

Edit - I take it we can discuss the console version in here as well?

Killed Demon Firesage, Dark Sun Gwyndolin and Seath the Scaleless a few days ago. Tried going through New Londo Ruins and honestly, I got completely lost. The Dark Wraith knights are also pretty tough, and I struggle with more than one of them. I managed to get the key from the dude and opened up the big gate - although I don't know where to go now. Died anyway soon after that. Is there a bonfire near there? Anyway, I'll try play again tonight and try to take on the Four Kings. Didn't progress any further into Lost Izalith yet because I find it quite a tricky area and from videos I've seen there's loads of lava ahead. Haven't been into the Tomb of the Giants yet, because I don't have a means of lighting and again from videos I've seen it looks like a pretty horrible area.

There are no bonfires in New Londo, that's why 4 Kings are one of the more painful bosses.

The quickest way for me to get to 4 Kings was going down the elevator from Firelink, going across the two bridges, then instead of going up the stairs where the ghosts first start appearing, running to the right and dropping off the ledge. That takes you nearer to the boss room.

For Izalith, the lava isn't a problem, and you'll find a way to light up Tomb of the Giants at
the first bonfire in there.

That's why NLR is the single best area in the game. Old school Souls level - dark, hard, maze like with no bonfires in between.

Oh and a tough boss at the end :)

Alright, I beat the Four Kings (a fifth turned up at the end but thankfully I didn't have to fight it!), then went back to Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith and defeated the Centipede Demon and finally Bed of Chaos. Bed of Chaos and Centipede Demon were both terrible; probably my least favourite bosses in the game. And I hated the shit out of those giant leggy dinosaur demons which are prevalent in the lava throughout Lost Izalith - the camera targets their body which was too high for my attacks to reach, and their attacks were horrible and flaily. Tonight it's on to Tomb of the Giants and hopefully take out Nito, and then I can finally wrap things up.

Honestly, the second half of the game is so much weaker than the first half. I think the game should have started to reach its climax after Anor Londo, and it would have ended on much more of a high (I know I have not finished yet so I may still eat my words). I didn't enjoy Lost Izalith or Demon Ruins, from my ventures into Tomb of the Giants it's pretty horrible and I thought that the Crystal Caverns was an interesting idea executed poorly. Demon's Souls is a far more consistent game with better bosses overall none of the lows which plague Dark Souls, in my opinion.

Hey guys been making progress on my Dark Souls play through, which I started over after quitting against the Anor Londo archers a few years ago. I got The Lordvessel but now I'd love some directions on where to go, beat Gwyndolin, the boss in the catacombs and the big fire thingy under Quelaag, unsure where to go next. Got killed in the tomb of giants by being careless and thought I'd be able to wrap back to the catacombs but found out therems only a few bonfires you can wrap to, so I kinda lost the drive to go to the cave of giants. Dealing with the Capra demons in the fire place isn't bad but got killed by a random Mino, the duke's archives also got me killed twice for being careless.

Basically I'm torn on where to actually go now that the game opened up. Also I'm using a Black Knight Sword +4 that has carried me fine for now but wondering if it's gonna keep cutting it? It still does very good damage I think but dunno. Switched to the brass armor cause it just looks so cool but no upgrades on it so far. My build is a mess as it has good str and dex and stamina. So dunno, can probably use any weapon, got recently the Quelaag fire sword and got it to + 4 as well.

I managed to beat big bad death guy (why am I so terrible at remembering their names!), seems like story wise, I need to get to hell and go for the queen of izalith, library for the dragon and new Londo for the kings. Haven't fully explored darkroot areas, haven't beaten the hyena and haven't ventured where the Astorias sealed door is. Haven't gotten past the dragon in undead burg and I'm sure there's other stuff I've missed. So if anybody wants to steer me in a certain direction that'd be great. Will probably head back to the Duke's archive as my first death was a freakin Mimic lmao

I never really had any preference on the order post-lordvessel as far as difficulty or anything.
On my first playthrough it made sense to go catacombs first since the road there starts from firelink, and you are there after you do the thing with the lordvessel. I think I then went to izalith, then archives and did new londo last because I absolutely hated the transient curse bullshit.

My worst problem is having no idea what I'm doing with weapon and character build. I know it'll be beatable if I just block and dodge correctly and I'm doing ok damage but dunno, where to go and what to do with it. Nito was a piece of cake for example.

Also the idea of ghosts and only being able to take them with like 2 Transcient Curses just ughhh horrible.

Lumine

If I remember right you can buy a few Curses from merchants, namely the one that's near the entrance to the Depths which is also close to the Firelink Shrine and thus New Londo. They're a limited amount though and only a few at that.

I wouldn't worry about it though. I think the ghosts generally drop more Curses than you need. You should have a few new ones before the first runs out. You could also equip the increased drop rating ring to make sure.

Loving your post and the overall not giving a fuck about anyone's name in the game but calling Great Grey Wolf Sif a friggin HYENA was just disgusting!!!

Bah, meant Hydra! Haven't gotten to Sif yet don't hate me! Haha

If you haven't been to Sif yet I'd say go there next. Maybe try to take down the Hydra too, and perhaps try for another run at the Four Kings once you have a few Transient Curses. New Londo Ruins is confusing, but once you've found the guy on the roof top and got the key, it's a fairly straight run to unlocking the elevator, and then there's a shortcut when you can roll down to the boss gate from a walkway above. But you have to beat Sif before you can battle the Four Kings, and when you're in their domain equip Artorias' ring so you can travel in the void.

Edit - out of interest, what level are you, and what platform are you playing on? I'm on PS3 and around level 90, I think. Just got Nito and the final boss to go now. Honestly not sure I can be arsed trying the DLC, even though I already own it.
