The New Xbox One Experience Beta |OT| Beta tested in the future

Did anyone else notice their controller's battery draining waaaaaay faster than ever before with the new dashboard? I fully charged it earlier this evening. I just checked the icon and i noticed how there's already one or two bars gone. Usually no bar would be gone in just these few hours.
There's a UI bug on the battery indication, drain should be normal.
The NXE update just got pushed to my console, it's been on preparing console at about 85% or so for the last 20 minutes or so. Is my console fucked or should I keep waiting?

Maybe wait a bit longer, but if it doesn't move you can pull the power chord and try again, doesn't mean your console is bricked.

So don't power down normally, just pull the cord and wait a bit then plug back in?

You can do either I think, but their instructions were to just pull the chord. Let it sit for a bit once you do though, so it sends crash data. If you have an external drive or a kinect plugged in, you might want to try having them unplugged when you try again.

So everything was fine until yesterday. Now I can't hear party chat at all - using elite controller + adapter + mixamp. I opted out of preview dash, hard reset but it's still broken. How do I fix this?

Did that and now it's sitting on the green boot up screen with three dots. Should I just reboot again, or am I going to need to use the factory reset USB tool thing? This is a fucking pain in the ass...at least all my shit is on an external HDD

Rebooted again and it works now, loaded up to the new dash after a couple of minutes. No factory reset...yay...

This problem has been talked about a few times here already, just want to reconfirm in case the same thing happens to you (which doesn't seem too unlikely from what I've read):

I got a prompt to update to the NXOE and it worked fine at first - but after downloading the update the console froze at the "Preparing console..."-screen that comes up directly after the download. I left it there for a few hours, nothing happened.

Performed a hard shutdown, after that the console was stuck on the green Xbox One startup screen for the whole night.

I used the Xbox One Offline System Diagnostic Tool (http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/system/offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool) and followed each step 1:1 with one exception:

I did not download the "OSUDT2" file but instead chose the "Restore Factory Defaults" because I have all my games installed on an external hard drive. Again, I followed the instructions, reset the console and everything worked fine the first time I tried. Even the new dashboard was already installed and working! So in case you have the same problem and can live with reseting your console (not really a big deal when using an external hard drive), that's the way to go.

Anyone know how to keep the streaming window open when tabbing out in windows 10 on PC? Sometimes it works fine and sometimes I click over to my other monitor and it dumps the stream but I hear music from the game still. Can't find the pattern to it to keep it going.

Just got an Xbox One (with Kinect, refurbished for only $200 at the MS Flagship store opening in NYC this week), and was wondering where to sign up for the preview program. I heard that you had to be invited by someone who is already in the program, is that correct?

Snapping is more annoying in the NXOE for me, you double tap the home button and when the screen darkens for the overlay apps like twitch will pause, if you don't unsnap fast enough they will stop working and have to be closed and loaded up again.

I'm really not feeling the improvements in this new dash, the new layout is faster in some places but slower in a lot of others.

Yes, and there's a dedicated thread for that on GAF where you can add your name.

But the preview program isn't currently accepting new members and probably won't until the new dashboard is released.

Anyone having issues with Upload Studio?
I just did a hard reset trying to unsuccessfully solve an issue with Halo 5, and now it so strange... it gave me an issue saying the dash took too long to start, I selected "close" and it started. I did a soft reset, and now it can't open Upload Studio.

Edit:
Holly shit, I may be having the most bugged experience ever since I bought the console, after I did that hard reset.

1) It started giving me an error opening the dash.
2) It gave me strict nat out of nowhere and I could not fix it without disconnecting my wi-fi and configuring it again.
3) After one more soft reset, it could not start upload studio giving me a constant message saying it took too long to start.
4) I unninstalled upload studio, installed again, and was able to open it. Got into Game DVR and when selected "edit" it was feezing in the main upload studio screen.
5) After that freezing I closed the app and opened again, it froze again.
6) After that it kept giving me the error I was having before, and could not open it.
7) Decided to unistall the app again: nothing happened.
8) Decided to restart the console, it's now stcuk in a black screen without restarting.

Mine did this but I didn't have to use the recovery tool. The first time it got hung up on the green screen for about 20 minutes. I unplugged the console and let it sit. Rebooted and after a few minutes it launched the the dash. So before going the recovery route, try rebooting again from the green screen.

Anyone having issues with Upload Studio?

On my console, the issues seemed to be tied to using Upload Studio and Game DVR together. I could even have both running at the same time, as long as I didn't use any function that tried to take me to the other app. So I would browse my clips in Game DVR, then when I found one I wanted to trim, I switched over to Upload Studio and started a new blank clip, and added the clip I wanted from there.

I wish they would do something like this. The current home screen is a giant waste of space and the shortcuts completely useless. Quicker to just jump straight to the pins..

Since the last update my system seems to be disconnecting from my internet (wired connection) at random, anyone else with this issue?

I like that.
If you have a disc in and haven't used it in awhile it strange having to scroll down off the page to find it.

seriously this is all they had to do but instead added a completely pointless down scroll for the last played list, it's terrible.

this is the first time where I prefer the old dash over the NXE version

Can't connect to DHCP.
Guess no Halo tonight.

Whee, hard restart fixed the online.
Still moderate NAT. Before thsi NXOE I was always open.

I think they want it this way so you can push right when you highlight the recent game to visit the game hub, friends and etc. if they went back to pins, people would forget about game hubs since it's not readily available.

that's just my guess though, they can make it look nicer and not take up so much retail. maybe like exhibit moving art of each game instead of just the name and bland tile color.

The issue with that mockup is it has now UI hint/"lead" that there is more stuff below that. Other than that though, which I feel you could find a solution to implement, I like it more than what they have implemented now.

Just a friendly reminder to all newcomers that you can pull RT at the home screen to go straight to your pins.
It show up in. Hint eventually but it took a long time to show up for me.

Yep I'd like that too. I don't like that my games and apps is all the way to the bottom either, I know I can just press RT but yeah. It needs its own tab on the home screen. Those are my only two issues with the new UI.

But what's the difference from pressing a direction on the stick and pressing RT? Both are instantly accessible.

If I worked at Xbox Support, I would book November 12 off work. 20m Xboxes updating to NXE on one day

If I were Microsoft I would not let anyone from Xbox support take vacation days on the 12th and the following days so they are fully staffed => And I think they have done this for sure :)

Ha. It depends what locations they're based in. If they have staff in Europe they can't make them work.

Lol I can't really explain it, it just feels like your games collection is hidden because it's so far down and out the way. I know what you're saying and you're right but idk, it's just one of those things.

Technically having its own tab would be faster though, at the moment you have to press RT > A > Right > Select Game. For apps it's even longer. There's pins but they have a limit.

If it had it's own tab you could simply flick right and you're at your games and apps collection. All of your games would be on this tab, all of your apps would be on this tab. Add some statistics to the side (closest achievement, played game in the last 30days, most used app in the last 30 days, etc) and I think it'd be pretty neat. Having it's own tab wouldn't mean pins had to be removed though, it could be in addition to them.

I much prefer the vertical orientation that they went with, as it allows you to see the additional information for multiple items at once. I think it just feels like a particularly empty space right now because most games aren't updating that space yet. It also gives them the ability to make that column longer in the future. I'd love an option that allows us to display more most recent games. If they went with the design you linked then that wouldn't really be possible.

Does this fix that stupid issue where, if you had far too many messages, the app in general would slow down considerably? I'm guessing not because message still appears to be a snapp app only but I thought I'd ask.

Holy shit man...is it normal for the Xbox One to act very weird when you have just booted it up, there appears to be an update but you just decide to not update yet?

That's how it was for me just now. I booted it up for the first time. Soon as i saw the dashboard i saw the most crazy stuff i had never seen before. Basically it was switching from the dashboard to a black screen and then back to dash and so on...it kept doing this, there was no stopping it.

So i restart the console and this time it didn't happen. But i went into party chat and saw that my mic wasn't working at all. It was known for the update to have a message appear that my mic wasn't working when it definitely was working, but now i didn't even see the circle lighting up.

Any UK GAF watch Sky through their Xbox? Mine is really glitchy like it's displaying it at 60hz instead of 50hz, even though 50 is selected. This problem has only occurred since changing to the new dash I think.

It happens with the USB TV tuner, too. Something isn't right.

I've just reported the fault. Hopefully it gets looked at. I suggest you do the same, the more people that report it the more they will look at it.

Weirdly I opened the preview app to report the problem, and then went back to the TV app and it's fine now.

Seems to be a problem when switching between game/apps and TV.

Just got in today. I cannot connect to any game server at all, when running the network diagnostics there seems to be an MTU-issue (whatever that means). The timing of it all is perhaps the most annoying as I just planned to play some Halo 5 MP for the first time today.

Anyone else with the same issue?
