btw yeah you two were right about my shitty attitude last night, I got more than a bit overzealous there, and I'll be dialing it back so these next couple days don't spiral into yet more pointless arguments and yet more grief-slinging from myself.

We good! I can appreciate you not resorting to name calling. And I did see your point, even if I don't agree with it all.

Kinda looks like Dishonored. I'm curious as to what does or doesn't cast shadows. I know in that reveal video when they were showing off the settlement creation, the pieces they were moving around seemed to be casting shadows onto its environment.

I'm so excited for this damn game. It's my number 2 most anticipated game of this year since its announcement right behind W3. I've been listening to a ton of music from the era to get into the mood and watching a ton of post-apocalyptic movies(The Road, Boy and his Dog) in anticipation.

The gameplay isn't in question for me, but these shots do seem...understated compared to what I expected. There really is a range of detail levels in games this gen.

This is a bit off topic, but I just wanted to crosspost (from the spoiler thread) that if you use a VPN to NZ, the PC game will be unlockable on Steam 13.00 november 9th in western Europe, or 7.00 november 9th in the US.

Japan with their fucking schedules as always. Jesus Christ, what the hell is wrong here with the releases always being delayed (and this being just a month is still OK, some games are still 2 or 3 months late).

Keep in mind he has flashlight on, that seems to really fuck with lightning and shadows. With that I mean it washed them away for some reason.

That still looks real weird. They're using a deferred renderer, dynamic shadow casting lights shouldn't be that big an issue. There is next to no AO either.

If this was a non-shadow casting area light then I could believe that.

Is this console footage?

I'm expecting my laptop to do alright. I've got 8gbs of ram, an i7 and a 660m. It isn't top of the line anymore, but it runs GTAV and MGSV pretty well and I don't need everything maxed out.

No, that is screencap from PC stream.

There's no AO at all in the shots or the video even though the website says that there should be. Which says to me that the option is either currently bugged or reliant on driver updates from nvidia.

I asked this yesterday or so, but are there any more words on PC performance??

Judging from stream it's fine, but I have no idea about specs or settings he is running. Loading times are tad long tho :/ Hopefully SSD helps with those, or if he is on SSD then HDD crowd will be in for rough time.

GMG is playing games with us. COD Black Ops, Battlefront, Syndicate and others are 30% off. Why no Fallout 4?

They have already ran several heavy discount campaigns for FO4.

Yeah I know. But there are so few dynamic lights in this game that most scenes end up looking this when there is lighting

and like this when there is no lighting whatsoever

Basically the game is only pleasant to look at when you are outside and observing objects from a distance of 20-30 meters away.

Am I missing something?

Anyway, that PC streamer hasn't revealed his graphics settings yet, right?
That's kinda fishy of him, tbh.

He can't without closing the game and running launcher, there is no in-game options menu for graphics. He has shown Audio and UI/HUD options several times.

How does this game hold up to GTAV graphics wise?

Same? Worse? Better? I can't really tell. Everything I've seen on console, GTAV on new gen systems seems to blow it out of the water.

That's kinda fishy of him, tbh. What if he's actually playing on low just for lol.

These are ultra settings. It's obvious based on shadow draw distance and the screen space reflections. Some textures look legitimately good on various "hero assets" so I don't think he's trolling.

A little confirmation wouldn't hurt. It only take a few seconds to take a screenshot of his settings and put it on imgur or something. But then again, he can also easily fake that.

Game isn't consistent in its graphical fidelity. At some places it looks great, then go into building and you get mediocre stuff. Just wait and go to basement, now we are looking at some horrendous shit. Back out from backdoor and across the street, again great visuals.

There is no consistency, imo.

I find that especially disappointing considering dungeons and most interiors looked fantastic when Skyrim came out. Really underwhelmed by interiors from what I've seen in the streams so far. Feels like a cheap move on Beth's part.

I wouldn't go that far. I've seen a few really nice looking and moody indoor environments, including the museum in Concord, the starting vault, the
Corvega factory
, that Trinity Tower from the leak the other night, so on and so forth. That bottom shot is not representative of how indoor environments tend to look on average, I'd say. In fact it's like you found a shot of the absolute worst looking moment in the stream yet, lol.

also what the fuck just happened to the PC stream

I'll admit, this is nitpicky/OCD as fuck considering things would function the same regardless but the whole UI is just the console one but with PC icons and no regard for the fact that the buttons are laid out differently on KB+M than the visual representation of the inputs in the interface (crosses instead of bars, etc). Crosses and circles are good for consoles because that's how the buttons are laid out and how the sticks move, similar to how bars, grids and lists work well for keyboard and mouse. I mean, with a mouse pointer, you can move and select things in any shape and direction but all they did was change the icons and kept the controller face button layout. Sorry, I'm just weird about user interfaces and their visual representations and interactions behaviours with input devices. I'd get equally OCD about using UIs built for keyboard and mouse with a controller. The Pipboy menus seem to be fine though.

Fortunately, mods!

Yeah, I think it's just the textures that are all over the place.

I watched his early stream yesterday from
inside the vault
. Everything was gorgeous, iirc. But when I saw his recent stream of a building's interior, it was kinda underwhelming.

I'll keep reiterating that their PBR pipeline is simply awful. There is no consistency in the material interaction with light, the thing PBR is designed to achieve. It is real weird.

The PBR also doesn't show particularly well in anything we've got up to this point besides the uncompressed stills, where its application looks a bit more noticeable

There's just no excuse for that kind of interface on PC. That is a horrible case of consolitis
