I see literally nothing that can be considered a) significant, b) endemic, or even c) representative at this point. A couple weird hitches contrasted with plenty of footage that tell different stories.

There could be any of number things happening that are purely a matter of incident, that without more information really shouldn't be used as a judgment. There's also no information to suggest that last generation issues are a factor; if anything, we have more information to suggest they *aren't*. And certainly, there's nothing here that cannot be fixed through patches.

If people are seriously crucifying a company and giving up on a game entirely because of a handful of short videos in a sea of leaks, GAF really is hopeless.

I thought it had to do with Ps3's low RAM?

It was just the complexity of the PS3 architecture in general and bethesdas lack of interest in optimising it. If the xbone version of fallout does indeed run better, architecture can't be used as an excuse anymore. PS4 is more powerful, there is no reason it should look or run worse.

Hi guys, further impressions.

So I went outside of that place, and then there were raiders all over the place, up and down, everywhere. Some of them threw molotov cocktails at me, which resulted in massive frame rate drops.

Then I killed those raider scums and went back to mother base.

It is really smooth everywhere else than this area. I have to venture further into that town, maybe the problems will persist, maybe it's only that area.

Again, game runs pretty smooth 'for a Bethesda game'. Also, game is fun.

If you're still doing tests, can you try favouriting a few guns and swapping between them rapidly? I got the impression from one video that there's a little hitching when swapping, and I'd like to get that confirmed.

Yes, I remember them having problem squeezing everything into the 8 gigs of ram of those machines... maybe they are having the same problem now with 16 gb of modern consoles?

PS3 had 512MB of RAM, man. Not anywhere near 8 gigs.

Lol, I was gonna ask that ultimately.

Don't be so sure. Yoshi's Wooly World has an annoying framerate hitching glitch if you play with the gamepad off.

Even with the gamepad on YWW has some really bad slowdown during the transformation sequences, and some noticeable stuttering in a handful of levels.

Love the game but performance is one major criticism against it.

This post really sums things up for me but all anyone cares about is cancelling the pre-orders.

Not today I am afraid. I definitely need to get more used to the weapon switching system. You have to confirm with X or A on Xbox One and that get's tricky sometimes.

not so much 'hopeless', as it is that there's this certain segment that tends toward being 'highly over-excitable' :) ...

Thank you for your impressions by the way. I'll be getting the PS4 version and I in no way expected the console version to act flawlessly. What you are saying is in line with expectations. Technical issues in areas of the game. But you do say it's fun. That's all I want.

What is this thread even. How does the last generation have - architecture-wise - anything to do with now? Wtf are people talking about here, except the OP, which the mostly don't talk about anymore? Makes me really looking forward to the DF article.

Can OP tell us if they are using the default HDD or something better? A lot of the issues I saw in the video reminded me of asset loading hiccups I would get in games.

8 gigs of ram? I thought the Ps3 had some 256MB of RAM!

I think it had 512, but it was split between GPU and CPU... or something like that, while the XB360 had 512 but it wasn't split so could use more and so was much better at handling open world games and their technical requirements.

Edit... too slow :)

Is there actually a quicksave function on consoles now? Or just autosaving?

No, no dedicated button. You press options and then quicksave. It's pretty fast. You can choose to save manually too.

So there is:
- Quicksave
- Autosave
- manually saving

It also creates more slots. So if you fuck up one save, you can easily go back a few saves.

I hope I won't have 100+ saves by the end, I am now at 15 or so.

Huh, that is still a new function at least. Better than having to choose between hard saves and autosaving.

"Horrible" seems like a bit of an exaggeration from that clip but eh... I haven't played it myself. I've only watched a few other gameplay clips to avoid spoilers, but haven't been hearing/seeing the same.

In my opinion, this is yet another example of Microsoft paying off the publishers to provide inferior experiences on PlayStation consoles. The Xbox has sold poorly, and it quickly becoming irrelevant, so Microsoft are resorting to cheap tactics such as having PlayStation versions deliberately gimped in order to stay relevant in the eyes of consumers. Assassin's Creed Unity, The Witcher 3, and Resident Evil Revelations 2 are examples of this awful practice. I'm sure when you play this game on the Xbox One All In One Entertainment System, this game will be 1080p at a locked 30FPS, with mods available from the get go.

Unless the frame rate dips are constant and game-breaking, this is a non-issue.

Thank god. Forgot to ask about that. Was kinda expecting the worst.
