Twilight Princess HD officially announced.

I think this is an olive branch to the fans because the next Zelda is skipping Wii U and going straight to NX.

They literally confirmed Zelda is still coming to Wii U in the trailer for this remaster. They showed footage of Zelda U and stated the Amiibo will work on both games.

It's coming to Wii U. It's also likely coming to NX but it's definitely coming to Wii U.

What I was looking forward to:

New lighting - nope.
New modes / gameplay changes - nope.
Placeholder game for this Christmas - nope.

Sorry, it's not enough to get me to buy back in at all. They spoiled us with OoT, MM and WW remakes. This one looks like an order of magnitude less effort was applied.

We don't even know about any gameplay changes and adjustments, and probably won't until closer to release when they talk about it more. We don't even know what the amiibo does. It won't be a placeholder game for Christmas cause it's a remake, and new main games are dedicated for the holiday season.

Lighting is less blurry and bloomy overall which was a complaint for some so that's an improvement for me and makes the image sharper and clearer, only going crazy with the bloom for specific scenes as intended. Like when in that scene with the town's people and everything turning yellow and you see spirit wisps because it's twilight realm converging with their world.

I think it looks really good to be honest.

Yes but let's not kid ourselves here, people complaining about how Link's head was a blurry mop likely played the game in 480i with composite cables. The game looks substantially better than in that video. They literally downloaded a video that used YouTube's old compression then re-uploaded it, it's utterly worthless

I'm sure both games look better in person than they do on YouTube, but let's be honest. The real problem with that video is the music.

Anyone who is saying that it doesn't look loads better than the GC / Wii version clearly hasn't played either of them recently. I watched the Direct on my phone and I could still see a big improvement. TP is the first Zelda I finished all the way through at launch within a few weeks. Loved every minute of it. I can only hope they fix the repeating 'You found a blue rupee! It's worth 5 rupees' messages.

I can't wait for Twilight Princess HD and the Wolf Link amiibo + soundtrack CD is just the icing on an already delicious Zelda cake.

I think the dreamy-haze filter's missing from these few scenes at the start.

Hopefully just WIP stuff.

Need I remind everyone that Nintendo has continued with the TP art style, and yet gave us this:

Which is goddamned beautiful.

I reckon a nice new lighting system definitely could have saved it.

I don't think so. World geometry and art styl are originally bad

That doesn't explain why it still looks bad on a system that's significantly more powerful than a gamecube.

The source material is shit. I recently played it on dolphin at a much higher resolution downsampled. Still ugly. Bad source material is bad even with a bit of extra shine on it thanks to tantalus

Got in on the second wave of TP HD on Amazon.

Really hope there is Wii U Pro Controller support. Don't really want to use the gamepad.

Well TWWHD had it I don't see why it wouldn't. Personally I preferred having the map on the GamePad when sailing in there, occasionally in dungeons it was welcome too, I suppose I'll use it again on Lakebed Temple.

they specifically said they would discuss teh gameplay changes later, i guess people don't listen even whey they are explicitly told that.

But you see how it is, they announce a Direct that'll be about updates on upcoming Wii U and 3DS games and expect "big surprises"...

No, it isn't likely, there might be a chance it happens, as it's right now it's only coming to Wii U.

That was built from the ground up for Wii U, but I honestly wouldn't mind them going back to the art style in the same way they do for Toon Link.

People who think this doesn't look much better than the original haven't played the original lately. Shit is unplayable. It's so ugly.

wolf link is cool, but I'm in no hurry to play the second worst legend of zelda title to date.

if that is the only reason...

You mean that tech demo? The new zelda game looks nothing like that. It's going for a more pastel, cell shaded look with a new re-design for link's outfit.

I wish we got what that picture describes. I wish we got better quality out of the Twilight princess HD remaster.

As of now, very disappointing compared to Wind Waker HD.

The Direct just highlighted that the new Zelda will be on the Wii U in 2016. It could be a joint release for both consoles but it's clear it's coming for the Wii U.

That would age just as badly as TP has. Their choice was the correct one

Eh...TP was pretty ugly when it came out and a lot of people acknowledged it. But that tech demo is way better, brighter, and cleaner.

Wind Waker almost needed nothing majorly changed because the art style is timeless. Twilight Princess on the other hand would need much more work. I wasn't expecting anything on the level of the tech demo because the tech demo was built from the ground up for Wii U.

Looks great. I love me some TP. Easily the best dungeons in the series.

The game cover looks really good as well. I wish they had Zant on there instead of Ganondorf. It spoils the twist for first-timers.

Well, I was not expecting it to look vastly improved. If the visuals had gotten a significant overhaul, I would have probably thrown down a pre-order. The visuals were never my main complaint with Twilight Princess anyway. I'm more interested to hear about the non-graphical changes that the game is getting. Could really use some adjustments to make it more streamlined and less tedious. Will probably pick it up down the line when it's on sale or something.

I'm in but I hope we'll hear about the gameplay changes sometime in January/February. Game looks much better graphically (notably Link's model, especially the hair is no longer a blurry ugly mess) but certainly nothing has changed on the level of WWHD where they tampered with lighting -- though we've only seen bits and pieces of this game.

They will almost surely have a Hero Mode. They just haven't announced anything else about this yet.

Really kind of miffed/disappointed there's an amiibo attached to this buuuuut since it has some additional functionality compared to others (in that you get something for having TPHD data on it in the new Zelda) it makes it a bit... I guess... easier to swallow. Curious as to what it and the other Zelda amiibos do.
