How in the world is Nintendo pulling this off on the Wii U? This is the first game in like 5 years that made me go wow. It's nothing technical but it's the amount of love they have put into the little things like the little blades of grass moving. I mean it's 5 seconds of a horse running and the sun shining into your eyes as you see the landscape. But dang there is so much going on and the way the land looks, really looks so inviting. I hope it is coming to NX. I want it in 1080p. I have a feeling this is going to be the Super Mario 64 of this generation. Nothing is going to top this for a very long time.

I bet the textures on Wii U will look worse than this and the game itself'll run 30 fps

This game is literally only something Nintendo can do its the patented Nintendo Magic™ people dont think is real.. but it is. It's like when you played alttp as a kid and looked at the backgrounds and was like damn the look nice I wanna go there and travel there. Thats what this game is. Unlocking a part of your brain you used to use primarily for imagination brought to fruition.

There's something about the art style I really like, not quite the same cell-shading as Wind Waker, but rather neat anyways

It is literally the game running on WiiU, there's nothing going on there that looks out of this world compared to the last time we had a look from an overexposed offscreen vid.

It's gotten to the point where we have to put "confirmed" in quotations. I'll believe it when I see leaked photos of early retail copies.

Based on what people keep repeating in Zelda topic ? a 2017 NX zelda game with nothing in common with what we saw in previous gameplay video.

Amen to that. The amount of people parroting that it would be cancelled for WiiU and moved to NX became so high that new posters were taking it as fact. Ridiculous.

I'm a bit peeved about amiibo usage (also in TPHD), I hate them, but I'll live.

That art style is absolutely gorgeous and that's clearly running on Wii U. Yikes at people insisting the Wii U version would be cancelled, or that it should be and Nintendo should piss off the 10+ million loyal fans who bought a Wii U only to start from scratch. We've seen how long Zelda games take to make...let's not start from scratch. Additionally, if it has to run on the handheld NX too there are going to be sacrifices to scope period then, regardless of Wii U.

Those "loyal fans" aren't enough to keep Nintendo afloat, pal

Angering their biggest customers, who might not be willing to buy an NX day one is not a good idea though...and again, the scope will seemingly be limited by the handheld NX regardless, as well as the fact that it takes 5 years to make a new mainline 3D Zelda now.

Zelda needs to stick to these kind of styles. This will be timeless like wind walker. It's even more apparent in how ugly TP HD looks.

100% agree. Even Skyward Sword looks quite good to me and would look much better with HD treatment. This is probably the best art style used.

Also yeah looks to be in the realm of Wii U game. Cross platform with NX won't bother me, so long as I have this to play on Wii U

Definitely a WiiU game in development in terms of graphics, but still looks fucking gorgeous.
Can't wait to see more.
I like the new Link too, he has been slightly modified but I think this new design fits him, fits better with the rest of the world.
Damn, 2016 will truly be amazing!

Female link? or the choice to choose between male and female?

Best case scenario. They didn't do it in Triforce Heroes, but that might just be because it was easier to recolor the same models. In a game about changing outfits all the time tho--

Yeah. Don't hold your breath. The men who make Zelda are as bad as some of the people on GAF regarding a female Link. Some of those interview answers-- jesus christ.

Horrible comparison, your talking about hardware that's 15 years old with the wii, red dead redemption still looks good today, and the Zelda wiiu demo still looks amazing after all these years.

Looks beautiful. Xenoblade should hold me over until this comes out.

And I'm still wondering if that's actually Zelda and not Link. They just look a lot more feminine (and they haven't really showed his face since the reveal trailer) than any of the previous ones, unless this one is just younger or something than any of the previous adult Links.

Well they could always make Zelda actually become playable in future titles since the series is named after her.

I say that has a bigger of chance of happening at least.

So The Game Awards new trailer, right?
I was honestly expecting them not to show anything and just wait for NX's reveal, but since they already did I think they'd be ok with releasing a trailer there

Could what Aonuma said have about the open world having a twist have something to do with something happening at nightfall? I know we've seen very little footage of this game but it's a bit suspicious that they have only shown morning, afternoon and sunset but nothing of nighttime.

I'm pretty confident that what Aonuma meant was something like the "random" events happening real time in the world as you go along, like that big boss just showing up out of nowhere and start attacking you.
But at this point it's anyone guess, and that's why it's so exciting!

I like what I'm seeing of course but I need to see more than this grass land which looks nice but its practically all we've seen.

I just want the game now D:

This game's artstyle is really great. Hoping for a day/night cycle and thunderstorms.

This is pretty much absolutely guaranteed.

It really looks like Nintendo is paying attention. I wasn't expecting this or the Cloud reveal. In this industry there are very few surprises so I'm glad that Nintendo still manages to do so. I am super excited for this.

I agree with others that part of what makes this special is the actual design of the world. It's sort of like when you first saw Mario in the castle jumping on trees and flipping around so fluidly.

Too many video game companies are trying to design worlds that exist in real life. When I play a video game, I want to go somewhere that doesn't exist. This world that Nintendo has created looks so beautiful and inviting, which is so important with a game based on exploration. Just looking at the that scene, I want to go like so many places.

Forget about the textures and all the technical things. One of the things that really impresses me is how organic the world looks. I mean Skyrim had a big world but everything was so angular with a squarely look. It looked videogamey. This is more than a videogame. It's art.

Here there are rolling hills and valleys. The waving grass effect in other games looks so canned but here it looks so fluid and natural like there is actual wind in the game world. Even the way Epona moves looks natural and there a real weight behind the animation. Motion capture would never create these results. The world feels alive. Too videogames today are technically amazing but the world feels sterile almost as if the life has been sucked out of it like a stuffed dead deer head. I hate open world games, but in this game I just going to go as high as can go and look at the world that they have created. It looks so much fun just to explore all the forests and caves, just getting lost in the world.

I admit part of the reason I am excited is because this game has allowed me to imagine about what it could be. It's like the first time I saw Mario 64. Perhaps it won't live up to it but Mario 64 did.

Have you seen Xenoblade X? its that but smaller world, cel shaded like WW to hide some flaws, higher budget, probably showing the NX version, etc.

Besides most Nintendo games on Wii U are lower budget or 60fps.
