My SO used to play bootleg Tomb Raider games many years ago growing up in Moldova. I just bought her this because she had a rough week at work. She hasn't played video games in years, but here she is learning to play again and loving every minute of it. That's worth the price of entry alone. Also these graphics are outstanding, its fun just watching it.

So I still haven't left the first big hub, I'm at the point where (very minor spoilers)
Lara needs to meet Jacob after the prison break
. Am I still fairly early into the game?

I'm loving it so far, but $44 TIV is too good to pass up, so I'm wondering if I can possibly run through it by the weekend.

I really REALLY want to play this game.To me its by far the most anticipated in its genre even more so than Uncharted 4 and a potential TLoU2.

I am just not ready to shell out $400.It sucks ,but wait till next year I must.Looks fantastic. :(

Guys, I'm "sorta" new to XB1 (I've had it for a while but I pretty much only use PS4 until getting Rise Of The Tomb Raider). I'm curious to know how to capture video footage (using XB1's built in features rather than an external device) and if it can easily be loaded onto a usb, and while I could probably go research it I was hoping someone could just tell me real quick. :)

To record a clip, you double tap the home button and hit X (This records the last 30 seconds)
Tapping Y will take a screenshot

To record longer clips, you double tap the home button and scroll down to the app snap selection menu. Choose GameDVR and then "end clip now" to capture up to the last 5 minutes. You can also use this app to start recording.

As far as getting access to it off the xbox, you can upload directly to Onedrive through upload studio, another app.

But if you want a simpler method, xboxdvr.com allows you to download your clips as soon as they are available online (about 30 minutes after you record them) and all you have to do is type in your gamertag. Screenshots as well.

Hope that helps.

Awesome. thanks :)

The game is really great, btw, really impressed. The in game art and tech for Lara, at least in certain respects, is really about as top tier as it gets. Early on when you first get to the sand area I noticed how her skin kind of folds/bulges under her arms where the fabric of her shirt ends and it kinda blew my mind.

Do the little jade, gold, silver dragons ever make an appearance in the reboot games?

No, no secret areas but the first game had a little Easter egg where the old secret jingle played when you found one particular thing.

Started up my survivor run tonight because why not (Fallout 4, I will get back to you eventually!) I really should have played the first run for the story because I don't want to redo everything again and I'll have to spend my upgrade points very carefully.

One thing I forgot to mention, I wish there was a way to disable hints. I don't mind using Lara vision because sometimes it's really dark and you could miss something, but generally when you press the button she'll immediately give you a hint, and more often than not one that is way too descriptive.

It's a really impressive game especially considering the XB1 hardware.
Was really nice to see a port that's not half-ass. Wonder if the exclusivity helped in that regard.

The thing I really noticed during the cutscenes was the small movements of the eyes/irises left and right during a conversation. It's an amazing sense of realism. I assume it's picked up in performance capture. I remember when games started having realistic blinking and how it made it seem so much more real, and this takes it to the next level.

By the way, this Lara face is so much better than TR:DE where they made her look kind of weird IMHO.

Also like how they used rumble triggers. A feature that most third party games rarely take advantage of.

Something about Lara's brutal killing still doesn't quite feel right for the character. I guess we have to suspend disbelief a bit since it's a video game.

Anyone think Lara drops a surprising amount of f-bombs? Maybe they figured they were getting an M for violence so they made her curse like a sailor but it seemed a little unecessary. Not that women can't curse, it just doesn't seem like her personality.

I did laugh when she took a pretty mundane side quest and said, "I'll try my damndest."

They do kind of touch on this part of her character when (about 75% through spoilers)
she tells Jonah to kill the bad guy and he can't do it. Killing has become very easy for her and she realizes it.

Guys, there is a survivor difficulty achievement. Is there a way to replay the missions on it? Or do I have to start all over again?

And will I keep the cards I got for challenge mode?

Oh my God, I just ran into the dumbest game ending mishap I've ever seen. It's not even a glitch, just a moronic design oversight.

Near the end, your doing this huge ass climb up a building. At one point, an enemy grabs your leg and you have to shoot him off in a cinematic moment. Specifically shoot him off with a pistol.

Only I ran out of bullets for the pistol. The game doesn't give you any. Do now I'm stuck on this looping minute long death animation. I have no way to beat this fucker down.

щ(ºДºщ)

Edit: nvm, now it gave me ammo... even though it didn't the last 4 times? Okay...

So im looking everywhere, where can I enter a code on the new xbox UI ?

EditL Found it. Wow they really hid that. For anyone wondering go to the store section, select browse all game, and then all the way to the right.

Yeah, I made a suggestion during the preview period to put it in an easier place since that seems like not a place people would look to enter if they had like...a year of XBL code to enter. Hopefully they do something about that.

About the face...
I was one of the people who didn't like the face change from vanilla tr13 to Definitive Edition and when it changed again, I thought it was stupid.

I gotta say. It's really growing on me.

reviews state the fps drops below 30 in combat. is it that bad?
It does at various places throughout the game, combat or not. It hasn't bothered me at all, to be honest. The game looks pretty damn amazing. I tried TR:DE tonight just to see the difference, and wow, it's a huge jump from that game to this!

I just beat it today and I loved it, as much as I loved the first reboot game, this is everything I wanted the sequel to be. Its gorgeous, the characters and story are far better, there are so many intricatly detailed tombs and crypts to! The crafting only added to the emergent gameplay and didn't feel tacked on which was a concern I had. It seemed to take all of the right cues from the last of us. Some of those scripted sequences were really intense, like I was on the edge of my seat, and the game isn't afraid to kick your ass either. Those fights towards the end in particular were giving me a tough time on the harder difficulty. Its in my top five games of the year. Everyone should play this, even if you dont have access to one now borrow one from a friend or something, its that good. I cant wait until everyone can play this!

It's kind of ridiculous (well even more) that Lara can straight up beat those armoured dudes at the end by mashing the melee button.

You can't switch to Survivor on the fly - you have to start a new game with it selected (it says as much when you try to select it).

Lara cursing is out of character.

All these positive impressions of this game are making it real hard to wait for it to come out on PC. :(

I almost might just cave in and get it on Xbox One at this point. I really loved playing through the first one earlier this year.

This game is literally one of the best reasons to own a X-box One at the moment. can't believe people are sleeping on this game so much. It may be the game of the year.

Crazy. Madness.

I was gonna get an X1 for Quantum Break anyway. But I have TR for PS4 now, I want to keep my collection consistent.

Decisions.

It's been getting some love from the podcasts I've listened to today. I think I remember the Game Informer podcast gushing on it, the Giant Bomb Quick Look was pretty positive, and I was listening to Beyond! earlier today, A Playstation podcast, and one of the dudes on the show said
Your move Uncharted 4, this one is gonna be a tough one to top.
and then
I know this is a Playstation podcast, but If you can get your hands on an Xbox One...borrow from a friend. Just do something and play this game while you can.

It really is an absolutely fantastic game, and I've found myself enjoying it more than Fallout 4. I hope it does well.

Edit: I hope at least it gets some action/adventure game of the year nods, since I don't think it'll qualify next year, when probably most people will actually play it.

I'm in the Soviet camp taking out the 5 comm towers. I have 4 done but one is at the top right in the middle and I just can't seem to get up there. I know I have to swing down on a rope but I can't get to the right place to do it. Any clues on how to take this on before I move forward?

Edit: ok now I'm up the hill where the comm box is but I can't move anywhere

Just found the supply shack. I really wish I had more coins :/ only have 60 now and I need like 150 for this crafting tool which I assume is the best first purchase, followed by the military rifle.

I'm having more fun with this than I did with UC2. It really is such a huge step in the right direction. This is semi open world done right without getting boring.

The little incidental animations are great. Lara will hug herself if cold, warm her hands near a fire, rest a palm near a wall etc. Some of these were in TR13 but they seem to be more fluid and more of them here.

I did the same yesterday with XB1 - TR: DE and PC - TR versions. The graphical jump is pretty big, and the animations are a HUGE improvement. At first I didn't like the character/facial model change, but it grew on me and now this is Lara. I hope they don't change it again, I really didn't like the TR: DE model.

One unwelcome thing I have noticed that's made the jump over from the previous game is XP Rewarding Boxes. Thankfully it's just the odd occasional locker here and there but when you've expanded your game in include a crafting system and upgrades use more components other than salvage just having these items that do nothing but give you XP just seems a little pointless. Still better than the past game where hunting was one of those activities that offered nothing of substance of than more XP in a game that showers you with it at every opportunity. Hopefully by Revenge of the Tomb Raider Crystal Dynamics find a balance between rewards the player and engaging with all they systems in place.
