Bloodborne DLC: how to access bloodborne the old hunters expansion.

Much better than that DS1 fuckery.

I still wish they would just add it to the main menu and give the option of a pre-leveled character.

I don't want to play the main game again - although at least it isn't too far in this time - but I am still faced with the choice of rushing to that point and ending up low level character or using one of the near end game saves I kept and likely being way over leveled.

I thought I remember him saying that this area would be more challenging than the base game? So I'm thinking ng+ just past Rom is a perfect build to tackle it.

I don't know about that. It scales up with NG+. Going into the DLC on NG+ has always been rough in the Souls series, as everything is harder but you don't have the benefit of experience.

Oh man im so excited! I hope there is plenty of chunks in the DLC though otherwise i'll have to start a new char, not that its a huge problem but i already have 5 lvl 100 and 1 lvl 40 something

Nice. I'm right after the first boss in my NG+ save so I will play a few hours this weekend to get close to the starting point if I'm feeling up to it.

I understand why people want this but it would totally destroy any traffic earlier parts have since everyone would just pick that after first playthrough. Also you can get to the DLC in 2 hours with around lvl50 character and this is without any rushing.

Because nobody has been able to explain clearly how to access the DLC next week (as a returning player and overwhelmingly confused), I found this published blog post just now

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/11/20/how-to-access-bloodborne-the-old-hunters-expansion/

Did you even read the OP?

You can access it at an extremely low level if you go Cleric Beast -> Gascoigne -> purchase Hunter Chief Emblem -> Amelia -> DLC. Clearing Old Yharnam and Hemwick before Amelia would boost your level considerably.
I've always done Old Yharnam before Amelia... hmm

and yeah my main guy is in NG+ right before the fight with Micolash, hopefully I'm not too OP for the DLC, I want it to kick my ass.

I'm hoping I saved before the end of the game, but I'm fairly certain the last thing I did was beat it. Which means NG++ rushing to that area :(

You fight Father Gascone and then the boss at Cathedral Ward and you're there. If you've went through the game once, going through it again is significantly quicker and easier than you are imagining.

Took me a month to beat father g in NG+, and it took me just a hour to beat Amelia LoL

So glad it's not at beargtryth or what ever, shadows of yarnhim is a pain

If I haven't played BB yet, is it fine to play The Old Hunters on my first play through?

I imagine it might make you a bit over leveled for later areas but the beginning of the game before the DLC is the most difficult part of the game for most people anyways. Not saying the rest is cakewalk, but you won't exactly hit any tough barriers like you might early on. If you want the vanilla experience, just ignore it until your second playthrough.

Then again, maybe you want to play it new as that's when it will be most active with other players. If you wish to participate in the coop multiplayer of the game, then yeah, do the new DLC as everyone will most certainly be there.

Anyone know how active Bloodborne players has been lately?

I was hoping they'd integrate it more into the story, like Gehrman offering you the eye after you go through Old Yharnam and the Healing Workshop like he suggested, but that would screw over players who are far into the game
where he would sit in the flower garden.

Nice, my current NG+ playthrough is right at Vicar Amelia. I get to fight one of my favorite bosses again and then move onto all-new content!

Stupid question: how are people joining the new faction already? Isn't it supposed to come with the DLC tuesday?

I'm asking because while I did get the new bell, I haven't found the eye on any of my characters. Maybe it's because I purchased the game + expansion combo, and it doesn't count as preorder.

I have a save file backed up right before I fight the final boss. I made this so I could easily get all three endings. I'll just revert back to that, run through the DLC and be in good shape. Don't really care if the content will be easier because of this. I just want the experience.
