My serious guesses would be it's either another studio's project they're assisting with, or a God of War game with a new protagonist and/or multiple protagonists.

I don't think they have enough people to get a new IP out the door at this point, especially since they canceled their last one and I feel they most likely went to a "safe" project after that.

Hopefully multiple protagonists handled like in GTA5. When you switch back from Pandora to Kratos you just see him in the middle of bashing someone's head in.

Yes, until they ran out of money. Then Sony stepped in, locked it down as an exclusive, and had Santa Monica help The Chinese Room finish the game.

TGC got their funding via private equity for their next game. Unless the budget have bloated since, it sounds like they're in good financial shape to make their new game.

I could see this being a new Fat Princess title, maybe. Could be a trailer with a beautiful ballerina dancing gracefully to classical music before she's squashed to death by Fat Princess .
