JJ Abrams, Disney, what they did with the Marvel license, what he did with Star Trek and other projects, fan service new and old, more darker dramatic tone (Empire feel), kind of a rebootish feeling with a new legacy of characters, but at the same time advancing the timeline, already smashed presale records, practical and great muted tone special effects... trust me, do not compare this to Episode 1.
The movie will have a whole new slew of fans young and old, Disney is marketing the shit out of this, in all facets. Every store I walk even, EVEN DOLLAR STORES, has Star Wars anything and everything, Petco, Petsmart, grocery stores, gas stations, I never seen anything like it since I was a kid with the originals. It is going to be much larger than it has ever been. Plus an entire theme park dedicated to Star War planned in Disney, not just the Star Tours ride (probably like Harry Potter in Universal and the soon to come Avatar in Animal Kingdom).
I almost felt what you did at first, because the acting and camera work felt very dramatic/serious, and less campy, but I am growing more and more used to it since rewetting the trailers. I am now re-pumped.
This will definitely boost the game sales, especially if they are smart and have a small advert for it in the trailers before the movie. Plus the adverts on TV will be flooded around the time the movie is ready to hit as well.
