A Konami PR Person Just Got a Metal Gear Solid V Award Instead of Hideo Kojima

Do you think that Konami will pass this award on to him?

Tonight in Tokyo, Sony held its annual PlayStation Awards ceremony. Some of gaming’s most famous game developers gathered on stage to get awards for their games. Hideo Kojima did not.

Maybe he was on vacation? Or maybe he’s attending The Game Awards in Los Angeles? Who knows.

According to Yahoo! News Japan and Game Watch Impress, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain won two awards: the User’s Choice Award and the Platinum Prize. In the past, Hideo Kojima has been a regular at the PlayStation Awards when his games have won.

While luminaries like Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii stood watching, the head of Konami PR took to the stage to receive the awards for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

So konami accepted it for him. It is not like it mattered.

He won the award it still won't change a thing. We all know who won it.

They will not stop, until they have taken everything from him. At this very moment Konami PR is breaking into his house and stealing his socks.

He's in another f***ing county. We've known for a month that he is on the board for the Game Awards. How is this a "news" story? Jason, straighten out your people^^

Even if Kojima were shunned, I still wouldn't agree that there's a terrible amount of controversy to be found here given MGSV is a Konami product and Kojima is no longer with the company.

Kojima is in LA right now. Whatever his status with Konami is, he still can't be everywhere at once.

In this case doesn't it make sense? He's probably on the way to or already in America. He can't accept the award so someone from the publisher goes instead. Maybe it should have been someone else at Kojima Productions or whatever is left but still, this isn't some horrible thing where they throw Kojima away and take credit for his work, this is legitimately him not being in the physical space to accept the award so someone else from the company does on his behalf.

He's in LA, going to announce Hills of Silence in about 12 hours.

Isn't Kojima in LA for the Game Awards? If so, then it's his decision not to be at that PS Award event.

Also, Metal Gear is Konami's IP, so you should ge used to the look of anything Metal Gear without Kojima.
But, as a Castlevania fan, i can tell you ... the pain goes away someday (... no, no it doesn't :( ... )

Why is this game getting an award to begin with is the real question.

This is my thought.

I had fun playing MGSV, don't get me wrong... but considering how unfinished it is and how 70% of the game is essentially tech demo quality for the game's admittedly brilliant engine I can't believe it's up for any kind of awards.

Oh come now. Guiellmo is an extremely uncommon name in english.

Well it is what it is. Sub part games get awards all the time. Doesn't matter to me.

Oh come on. This is a fake controversy. Others accept awards for others all the time.

Pretty much, the entire article just seems to try to be a crappy attempt at utilizing the Konami controversy to get some clicks by creating a problem where there isn't one.
