that FF7R trailer oh my gawddddddddd

so anyone have summary to what rumored/confirmed came to PC?

"Console debut" aka can maybe release on other consoles later and can release on PC on day 1 or later.

Are we talking about stuff that has to be censored legally?

I'm glad they finally made a game for people with prosopagnosia

I know this word. I learned it from a videogame.

Watched the FF7Remake trailer... kind of didn't do anything for me.
FF7 will always be the first FF game I ever played and due to that it always has a special place in my heart, but nothing about the new trailer captures what FF7 means to me.

Graphically it looks fine, I guess.

Also it's been the 6th of December for about 50 minutes, so happy independence day to my fellow Steamgaf finns.

Soooo owners of the base game and the season pass essentially get the enhanced edition but there is also another enhanced edition as a seperate game?

My guess is that it will work the same as it did with Witcher/Witcher 2. The Enhanced Edition will release as a separate retail product, but on Steam all copies of the game are upgraded to the Enhanced Edition, and the store page for original version will be replaced with the enhanced edition. This of course will mean they can justify charging $60 again for a year old game (but then it's still $60 on Steam right now even without the upgrade), but at least everyone who already owns it doesn't get screwed.

The short answer is "Money."

The long answer is "Money. Duh."

Yeah, but... uff... It makes me kinda sad to see DF running these money-grab things, that add close to zero value to the original game.

For all intents and purposes, it's intended to stay close to the OG sprites 1:1.
You get the original game with it anyways so no biggy.
I personally like the new art and really we got over the lip sync issues of Life is Strange and we'd still vote that as GotY, so I don't see the issue here.

Don't really care for the lip sync myself, it was just weird to see a close up of Bernard talking, with his mouth doing the random movements it did 20 years ago.

And ok, they can give me the original game, but I have it already from back in the day, so yeah, new gamers can enjoy the game and all that stuff, but I'd say that these kind of remaster should appeal to old fans in the first place, rather than just for a +1 on Steam...

If it's anything like Grim Fandango it's mostly that it's very hard to get the old game running on a modern PC. I agree as remasters they're very meh.

I have yet to buy GF remaster, but based on what I've seen, I feel I'll wait for a massive discount, considering I've already got it long time ago, and I can easily run it on ResidualVM whenever I want...

I´m sorry but I don´t find anything wrong with that. They prefer to play on PS platforms because their friends play there, they like trophies, whatever option you prefer.

Aren´t we always saying games should be available on all platforms? We should be happy when more people get the chance to play them on any platform. What about games that come out years later on PC, should pc gamers act differently than those PS fans?

You could argue they could get it for less on pc but developers won´t mind if someone spends a little more on their games. Maybe the higher price makes them be more selective when buying games.

Being someone who has over 1000 games on steam I´m sure I wasted a lot more money on bundles for games I´m never going to play.

I just see the reverse, since a majority of these titles can be played on PC from 5 years ago. If not older.
I'm just talking from a spec side of things. More or less the "I don't wanna play it on PC because reasons".
Yeah good for indie devs and platform of choice, and all that. But that side of things is still odd to me.

These companies are bloody geniuses. They get to scrap expensive translation processes for niche games while driving up the desire for imported games (at higher prices), all while blaming a non-existent threat that the fans of those niche games already blame for everything.

Bravo.
I don't think all that many people want to import JRPGs or VNs they cant read.
Only action games seem to get around that.

For those that know about the Dying Light: Enhanced Edition. If I own the original game, but I don't own the season pass. Do I get the enhanced edition for free, or do I need to purchase the season pass to be eligible to receive the enhanced edition for "free".

Someone hold me....

Apparently Microsoft is now blaming poor sales of RotTR on the schedule after saying it could hold its own against Fallout 4?

Smh.

I feel like we're in the era where "Enhanced Editions" (or whatever you want to name it) are like one last gasps for relevance before your game fades away off store shelves or for people to consider buying something off sale price.

Although I guess it's kind of cool people get to go back and touch stuff up but I wonder how much of that is an artifact of the console generation transition (why are we not completely out of it)? Because last I checked Dying Light was not a cross-gen game or a last-gen game being brought back for new systems. Same with a bunch of other even PC-exclusives doing directors' cuts, etc.

Gonna assume that - let's use Shadows of Mordor as an example - the season pass will basically renamed to the GOTY upgrade (or whatever you want to call it) for owners who didn't pick it up. Also probably they will just remove the option to buy the base game as well.

You will get the enhanced edition for free, just not the DLC.

Okay, thank you for answering my question.

So Yakuza thing that I read on backpage is untrue? :(

It can be true it is just that we are not 100% sure. But based on SEGA last financial call and slashing their predictions for this fiscal year for 90%, I will dare to say that they will need money badly that means less exclusivity.

Yeah, I don't agree with some there who say it's very clear that console exclusive means it will come to PC as well and generally that all this is not confusing at all.
Come on, if it wasn't confusing so many would not have to ask around. Even for definition of words.

It doesn't mean they will show up on PC. If it is "console exclusive" it means it's only for that plattform, but will release on PC too, but if it is "console debute" it means it will debute on that said plattform, but can show up on any other plattforms.

FFVII Remake and some other games is an example. They are "console debute" on PS4, but that doesn't mean they will show up on PC, they could show up on Nintendos next console, Xbone or whatever.

Just because it sais "console debute" doen't it mean it will release on PC too.

Someone hold me....

No. Like I said just above your quote. It doesn't mean it will release on PC just because it consoles debutes on PS4.

In a vacuum sure, but the asumption goes further when you take the publisher into account as well.

Square, releases the majority of their games on PC these days.
Namco, releases the majority of their games on PC these days.
Koei, releases the majority of their games on PC these days.

It's still an assumption, but one backed up by significant historical precedent.

I agreed.

I would personally buy most of these debutes on PC as long as it's not very long after PS4 release.

Im not sure who, but I think Kagari hinted that FFVII Remake will only be PS4 and PC, but it will take some time for it to release on PC.

You can usually assume it will, otherwise they would say "exclusive debut" or "play it first on...".

They always claim the highest degree of exclusivity possible.

No.

Ni No Kuni 2 is also an example for this,

I would really want it to be on PC too, but I think it will be released on PS4 and then on Nintendos next console after some time due to the first Kuni game being released on DS.

You know why you shouldn't have GOTY awards or an awards show before the year is out? Because you miss stuff like Xenoblade Choricles X. 34 bloody hours I've put into this so far and it's an exploration freaks wet dream. To parrot what someone said in the OT, everything about it is massive except the UI text (which is really, really tiny).
Do you ever sleep? I was too tired to play yesterday and was busy all of today so I'm hoping to spend all of tomorrow on Mira. I did sneak in an hour on Thursday and it's fantastic!
I agree with the OP. If something is announced to be a 'console exclusive' by the definition of 'exclusive' it implies that it will only be available on consoles.

Naughty Dog games are actually console exclusive, likewise Bloodborne, but Cuphead apparently is also 'console exclusive' yet coming to PC.

It's the new 'literally'.
I was surprised at how many people in the first page said that it wasn't confusing. What's the point of it if it isn't confusing? Just say that it's coming to PlayStation, without mentioning the word exclusive, if everyone can easily work out where it will be released.

Is there a way to separate devs and publishers on Steamspy? Like for example, I only want to see what Square Enix developed, but since they're a publisher, it's giving me stuff like Flora's Fruit Farm? Which prob isn't developed by them.

So what were all the games discussed at PSX?

FFVII Remake - 'Play it first on PS4' Translation: Likely coming to PC.
Nioh - 'PS4 console exclusive' Translation: Likely coming to PC.
Yakuza Zero - 'PS4 console exclusive' Translation: Likely coming to PC.
Full Throttle Remastered - 'PS4 console exclusive' Already confirmed PC.
Ni No Kuni II - 'PS4 console debut' Translation: Likely coming to PC.
King of Fighters XIV - 'PS4 console exclusive' Translation: Likely coming to PC.
Uncharted 4 - 'PS4 Exclusive' Translation: Fully funded by Sony, not coming to PC.
Ratchet and Clank - 'PS4 Exclusive Translation: Fully funded by Sony, not coming to PC.
Rez Infinite - ?

No.

Ni No Kuni 2 is 'PS4 console debut', just like FFVIIR. So, FFVIIR may not be coming to PC as well?
I still think it's possible for Ni No Kuni 2 PC though. They can release the first game next year before the 2nd one.

I think all games shown at the PSX have a realistic chance of coming to PC except for Ratchet and clank. That's the only actual exclusive exclusive i can remember.

The bolded ones are games I don't think are coming to PC, but for Nintendos NX. Unsure about Yakuza though, might have a better chance at being on PC, but as far as I know, Yakuza has never been on PC and the developers are not PC friendly.

Im pretty sure FFVII Remake is coming to PC, or more like "In my head FFVII Remake for PC is already confirmed".

Ni No Kuni might too, but I feel the chance if bigger for a Nintendo NX release.

Seems to imply that you need SP/DLC.

Hmh when they write "Those enhancements are available to any one who owns the game. You'll be able to download them as a patch if you own the game already, or they'll come with the Enhanced Edition itself", I took it as the technical enhancements are a patch while the DLC would be something you would have to buy.
