Just put the trash in a folder yo, I rarely look at it. There's no reason to permantantly remove games from your account unless it's meant like a rebellious act against some publisher.

Valve always seems to time these additions so they work out poorly for me. I bought a gift copy of RE Revelations last year but it activated as a RU copy. Now I could remove it and presumably add the US version, after the Capcom bundle has ended. They added refunds after a bunch of games I bought during an anime sale were bundled, but since I already had them I didn't buy the bundle.

I wouldn't remove anything I've actually bought.. I did remove Maplestory though. (free to play game)

I was ashamed of having it near the top of my games list by playtime. Now it's gone.

I tried this with Dota and it didn't work. Maybe it is because I have still played it in the last two weeks? Tested on another game and it did work.

I really don't understand why you'd erase a game, even if you hate it, since it takes up no space if it isn't installed. Truly bizarre.

Why have something in the list which you won't ever play? It's nice to be able to clean up. Another reason I've already described on a previous page - you can delete wrong subs and buy the correct ones now without bugging the Steam support.

This really makes no sense. There's already ways to hide games in groups and Favorites, as said a million times in this thread.

They should be working on the buddy list functionality (grouping, mass moving and group renaming) instead of this stuff.

The "hide this game" option only hides it from your personal Library view. It's pointless if you want to get rid of a game. You still own it and you'll see that on the store and it will count for your owned games amount. Other people can see it too, no way to "hide" it from them.
Now people can delete whatever they want! Free choice! Makes perfect sense.

Regarding the ability to restore a licence, it seems you can only restore retail key licences, not store ones, at least as far as removed games are concerned. I can restore my key licence for The Talos Principle Demo (it was originally The Talos Prinicple Public Test and a game) but was not given the option for Estetiikka (fortunately I have a few spares in my inventory).

Small update: I purchased Reveal the Deep to experiment a little more as it's cheap and was given the option to restore the licence, so apparently it is only store-bought games that have since been yanked that cannot be recovered. Valve may be able to help in such situations, but I wouldn't go assuming this to be the case, so if you're toying with the idea of removing, say, Wolf09, be sure it's what you want.

So, I've decided to at least delete all games that I already have on GOG (which is my preferred platform) since I don't need duplicates. However, I have two questions:

1) Some games have DLC, I noticed that when I delete the game, it only removes the base game and not the DLC. The DLC still shows up as purchased. Any way I can completely delete it or am I stuck keeping it in my hidden category?

2) Is there really no way to delete a single game that is part of the bundle (I get an error message when I try). For instance, I got the Deluxe version of Might and Magic X which includes Might and Magic VI which I own on GOG so I want to remove M & M VI from Steam, but it isn't allowing me to...

the ones i removed were free indie games that i'm never gonna play. also some annual games. for example FM 2014. i'm not gonna ever go back and play them either. i've got too many games now and it just needs trimming down.

Yeah, just that use case alone makes the feature invaluable IMHO.

I'm not going to delete a thing. Not a single thing.

I will wear my backlog of unplayed games with pride.

Why? Just create an option for it to disappear from your library but be repurchasable for free on the store. (Unless that is exactly what this is?)

Otherwise it just seems like a way to have some jackass get on your account and delete your library lol.

Simply search for the DLC. E.g.:

It's not technically possible for Valve to adjust the contents of product licences on a per-user level.

Games that were activated via retail keys as well as games that were purchased from the store and are still available can be recovered, but games that were purchased from the store and are no longer available cannot be recovered. I've asked Valve if this is intentional and, if so, if there is any recourse available for those who change their mind after removing a delisted, store-bought game.

As a clean-freak I like this feature.

Although it's gonna be shitty for the first person that leaves his laptop open in class to go to the bathroom and has some of his games removed as a 'prank'.

Was hoping to remove all old company of heroes versions and just be left with the new steam version, but removing them would remove the new one too :[

You can undo it, at least for some amount of time.

Hmm, for some reason I can't get rid of Europa Universalis III (already have it on GOG) even though I removed the game and it's DLC.

Too bad I can't get rid of the multiplayer versions of games such as Call of Duty since I only play the single player.

Man, I really, really wish they would just add a "hide" function that actually hides the game; ie takes it off your profile as well. I don't want to throw away the license, but I want to prune my massive library filled with bundle trash down to what I actually like and care about.

Good, now hackers can loginto accounts and delete games.

oh, shit...yeah that is potentially a big problem.

Make a category called "pit" or something and put everything that you never want to play there. Works for me.

There is a hide option actually.

The hide option or categories is not what the person is asking for. Just like me, jetsetrez seem to find the current hide function useless for actually hiding games. Sure, the game is "hidden" from you in your library... but not from you profile/when others check your games/whatever. It's visible everywhere but in your library list. If you put it in a normal category it's even less hidden since you see the category.

Wow the thread is opening my eyes to a new level of sad. Really people? Your ashamed to have certain games on your account?

Oh, the horror.

I used it to remove a couple of games now,

Transistor - Already beaten it, didn't care for it, and had no urge to play it again.
Arma2 - Had only played it for 2h in 3 years, despite trying to play and learn it many times.
The Dig - Hadn't played it on Steam at all, and now prefered to have the GOG version.

It really doesn't matter that much, now that you can hide games, but it feels nice to be able to cull the numbers a bit. It's like with everything else you own - clothes, books, records, movies. Sometimes you just want to get old unwanted stuff out, and it's nice that Steam now allows something many have requested.

Thought a bit about removing Borderlands 2 and Saint's Row 3, but since I spent a bit more on them, and because I find them boring but not terrible, I choosed to just hide them.

Exactly. I think this thread is like 10 pages of people either incredulous that others would want to get rid of games, or people recommending current solutions that don't actually do what some are looking for, lol.

I would love to prune my huge library down to probably 100 or so games which are the ones that truly mean something to me, and show what I actually like.

The amount of games, and the kind of games people are deleting make me wish I routinely went trash diving in my youth. I could have saved so much money.

I remember somewhere it saying that you can restore the games that you "deleted" - is that really possible? Need confirmation ;o

So for most games, this feature is a way to hide games from an one's account, right?

Looks like I can't get rid of things like Left 4 Dead beta without deleting the full game as well, for some reason. Guess I'll just use the hide feature...

Cant you just "hide" the games instead of deleting it lol? That is what I'm doing with DOTA2 test and Left 4 Dead 2 Beta that I have.

One thing to note--this feature isn't because Valve wanted to implement the feature or cares about your ability to do this... it's because they're trying to automate their most common customer service requests and they noticed a lot of people ask them to remove games.

This is pretty much what I am doing. There are about 50 games I have from bundles that I will likely never touch, but at the same time having them hidden is good enough for me since I have no idea if I might get bored enough to play them or want at least idle them to get something. Still it's nice to be able to remove them should I eventually feel it's necessary

So what you're saying is, if we DO care about a feature, we should all pester support until Valve adds that feature? :p

One case I'm wondering about, that I have also emailed their support about, but they are yet to get back to me about it.

When Sam&Max: The Devil's Playhouse was released, I bought the game through the Telltale Games store, but I got a Steam key for TF2 items related to that game.

But that key also added that game to my library, five entries, one for each episode.

At that point I had already beaten the game, and I have had no use whatsoever for the entries in my Steam library. So I might as well remove them.

But, the remove function names the subcription as Sam and Max: The Devils Playhouse + TF2 Items. And these TF2 items turned out to be quite valuable. I sold the hat for 65€, which I used for Fallout 4, and I have a gun that was worth 15€ last I checked.

Anyone who know if removing the games would effect the TF2 items in any way?
