Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Minecraft Wii U Edition just got in the eShop All-Time Chart at 20th. The 19th position is occupied by Xenoblade Chronicles X, which was at 22,805* downloads as of May 24th, 2015.

* = Famitsu consider eShop-only sales for the downloads total, while downloads from retail codes are included in the retail total.

EDIT: What were first months / weeks for Minecraft on PS3 and Vita?

#FE was a huge turn off the moment it was shown, straight up Otaku bait with the whole idol thing. I mean you have a FE and SMT crossover with Atlus dev it collaborating with Nintendo and you get that? Not sure if that game has much appeal outside of Japan too.

I would argue that almost everything Atlus puts out is like that.

Japanltdranking only have the FW of the retail Vita and 360 versions, with Vita at 36,593 and 360 at 5,351.

Metroid Prime Federation Force will get 2016 software sales over 2015 of course.

Also the next episode of Monster Strike will have a super in-your-face, in-episode mention of the 3DS game. Apparently you should play the game to see what's coming next.

I'm going to keep the #FE pessimistic train going.

As you know, right now the Jump Festa 2016, it's mostly an event of all anime manga stuff, but of course there are games on it as well, Nintendo is attending and Famitsu posted an article about stuff on their booth/stand whatever, it's essentially just three things.

amiibo

Splatoon

And Super Mario Maker.

It's noteworthy that they're only showing WiiU stuff, they don't really have much to show for 3DS but still, anyway, here's my point in a week Nintendo will be publishing an Otaku oriented RPG, but for whatever reason they didn't show the game on the otaku event they attended.

For what it's worth, Splatoon will likely sell more on the week that #FE is coming out than what #FE will sell at all, with SMM not too far behind, but they should at least give it a try. I agree with Nirolak's post before, they know the game will flop so they won't give it a big push, hence the lack of ads on TV, but having a damn stand shouldn't be too expensive, hell they even had a Splatoon torunament with live commentary and got the director of SMM there too.

----------
On a different note, was watching the Square live stream of Dragon Quest Builders, we already knew the price of the games but it's still mindblowing what they're charging for it, Vita SKU is almost 6k yen, PS4 SKU is 7.8k yen. Minecraft Vita is only 2.4k (all without including taxes).

More simply, Minecraft Vita is $20, DQB on Vita is $50 and DQB on PS4 is $65.

Ehh that's not where you'd expect it anyway. They know whats successful, and we all know even if #FE busted out of the gates with an XCX opening, it'd still sell less than either of those titles or the amiibos. :p

It's not that there is such a high bar for Minecraft to top the e-shop chart. Splatton, which is #1, was at 168k 2 months ago.

Download card version of MHX keeps dropping at amazon and I don't see supply problems mentioned at other places. I guess Capcom is finally in place to meet demand these coming weeks.

It amazes me how well Splatoon is doing.

Glad so many new players keep joining which should keep the online going for quite awhile. Honestly before the game was released I figured it would bomb and the online would be dying or even dead by now.

Shame they didn't release Splatoon early on and perhaps a sequel this year. Perhaps it would have helped the system a bit more.

Vita at least seems to be surviving in Japan. Wish it was at least doing that in the West.

Hmm... I really wouldn't call Jump Festa an Otaku event, at all. Well, there's definitely some stuff for Otaku in there, but that's it. Though I agree showing #FE is something they could have done, but they most likely (rightly) assumed their booth space would be put to better use for stuff that is actually selling.

So two things today...

First, Konami just announced something unbelievable... a 3DS game. Yup! New Yu-Gi-Oh! game. Coming this Summer.

Second, the Ace Attorney anime. Looks like it's a bigger deal than I was expecting. Some details:

- produced by A-1 Pictures
- directed Ayumu Watanabe
- head writer: Atsuhiro Tomioka
- music by Kaoru Wada.
- the cast:

Yuuki Kaji as Phoenix Wright
(lol)
Aoi Yuuki as Maya Fey
Masashi Tamaki as Miles Edgeworth
Chie Nakamura as Mia Fey
Masami Iwasaki as Dick Gumshoe
Tooru Nara as Larry Butz

But the most important bit is that it will air on Saturday, at 5.30PM on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV. It's the timeslot for The Kindaichi Case Files R, and it will air within the "Hour of Mystery". It will air just before Detective Conan, actually.

Anime will cover AA1 + 2, with some original episodes, so 2 cours seems likely (most likely a second season in 2017 if the first one is successful?).

So yeah, wasn't expecting that at all:

- daytime timeslot, part of the hour of mystery, airing just before Detective Conan
- well-known studio
- well-known VA (maybe too well-known, ha ha)
- most likely 2 cours, which means it would still be airing when AA6 comes out if it does come out in July as

Looks like Capcom is really serious about promoting AA... could be pretty beneficial for the series, especially if the anime's actually good. Well so far, all the right boxes are ticked. Curious about the short-term impact too (sales of 3DS games).

Ayumu Watanabe is a good director, he's better known of his work for Doraemon and Space Bros anime. Thank god they didn't get Seiji Kishi.

Definitely.
And I wonder which big event can be called "for otaku"; TGS is the biggest one while World Hobby Fair is more aimed for children

Amazon has apparently ran out of Splatoon bundle stock and they will get a new shipment after Christmas - can anyone confirm?

Booooo this guy.

Also I see software is now ~7 million behind last year.
Not my cup of tea. Tried the original and didnt like it at all. Love DQX for a while though.

And i think nirolak is spot on about #fe, but its not like nintendo behaviour is common to all core offerings on the wiiu. Bayo, w101 got ads and zero 5 got a big advertisement. Those games were just a while ago, where the wiiu fate was already sealed. Xenoblade and FE just got bigger das than stuff like LEGO city ans rayman, where nintendo just launched the game and that's it.

Nintendo is not constant at all and that's why i expected them to put more effort on #fe.

Also, minecraft already passes nsmbu and is number 15. If you count only wiiu games and no VC games, its number 11.

I'm still shocked that there's a Konami 3DS game coming next year. And a Yu-Gi-Oh! game too. The first one did decently, but not that well, while the digital only PSP titles sold much more than what everyone here could've imagined. I was expecting a Vita game.

I see it's also on mobile and PC. F2P?

Gotta wonder how much money capcom is leaving on the table with Monster Hunter

Series could be so much bigger than it already is

when a joke is repeated every week, it stopped being funny.

Yeah, I posted this before I saw the digital sales figures.
But my guts tell me Builders might help the Vita have some momentum. And I wonder how it will affect the PS4 HW sales too.

minimum impact

500.000 units seems low no matter how low the budget was. Given the genre and the platform is releasing on, the game cannot aim at much higher sales unfortunately. I do hope Nintendo sees Monolith Soft as a long-term investment, to gain reputation in a genre they're lacking (open-world RPGs); also, the investment in developing such a game might come useful for future projects - Monolith Soft. should be able to complete games faster now.

Nintendo has owned Monolith Soft for almost 9 year... don't see a reason why Nintendo would get rid of them now.

I do think Sony Japan is still recovering from last generation and are preparing to turn things around this generation though.

They are still recovering from TLG fatigue...

Btw, anyone think that we'll slowly stop seeing PS3 cross-gen games in Japan now? It's finally looking like the PS4/PSV are becoming the main platforms for most titles these days. Like I actually think Star Ocean 5 might sell better on PS4.

Aren't we already seeing that? The PS3 is basically done selling significant amounts of software. Putting cross-gen games on it is only attractive now if it costs very little.

Isn't that a pretty decent bar cobsidering that's around where LTD predictions were being made? Closer to 200k anyway.

Hm, no? If Minecraft can sell 200k on PS4 it won't sell only that on Wii U.

There is big overlapping between PS4, PS3, PSV users but no competition for Wii U.

Not getting rid of them, of course, but downscaling the team and using them as asset developers or mobile games.

Yeah, I don't exactly know where you're getting this impression from.

My only concern was what changes now that one of his good friends isn't at the helm of Nintendo anymore (may he rest in peace), but after reading the interview Kimishima did with Time Magazine, I feel like he's not one to mess with a good thing just because it wasn't his idea. And that includes Monolith Soft.

If anything, I am really curious to see how he expands and fosters change in Nintendo's development efforts. We might see more 1st-party M&As, since his background likely makes him less hesitant toward them than his predecessor, so long as the value is retained in them for Nintendo.

You should really read Takahashi's interviews.

Yes, I agree with this, as well.
