Console versions of game, especially unfinished versions not meant to be seen for the public, (like any other actual alpha), does not=downgrade just because it doesn't look as good as the pc version. False advertising would be stating pc footage is console footage.

If it's just a Destiny clone I would just stick to Destiny because I love the Sci-fi style over NYC.. I live here in NYC too so it's unfortunately boring to me lol.
I may be interested in the Third person gameplay though. This game could give me my Gears of war fill on PS4 POSSIBLY if it feels good.

Ehh, probably not. The developers are not testing graphics in an alpha, they are testing net code. Which is why they probably tone down graphical effects and don't put certain textures, so that the download is not as big as the final game and testers can download it quickly and get into the testing. Which is precisely why publishers don't like people putting up videos like this, it's simply not representative.
People really need to get their heads round the fact that you can't judge graphics based off of shitty compressed YouTube videos.
It makes you look dumb.
The lighting and pop in for one can be clearly seen here. Texture quality, and/or overall detail is usually poorly judged with compressed videos I do agree.

What will make or break this game for me is whether 1) The gunplay is lot better than something like Watchdogs and 2) has enough content both single player and MP to keep people interested. People keep comparing the game to Destiny but does this game actually have the equivalent of Raids, Strikes, hard modes, Bounties, quests, crucible and matchmaking? Obviously it will take time to grow like Destiny but are expansions planned and in a timely manner? Will it be super easy to join up with friends and whatnot? I'm hoping for the best because this game has potential but I feel like we are still in the dark way too much.

From's dark fantasy games are full of similar copypaste animation jobs.

The alpha looked good when I played it. Obviously the graphics weren't top notch but the build I played was in an alpha state. I look forward to the beta on PS4. The game looks great, the gameplay is subjective. A lot of people judging the graphics on a bad youtube video.
A preview opener on an uber PC in a controlled environment was never gonna fully translate to Xbox for the full game.
The GFX aren't gonna improve a massive amount from the alpha.
They did do a very good job and darkzones are fun. I do want raids though, hope they have something special lined up.

People judged the graphics vs. better footage provided by Ubi months ago and there was a clear downgrade if I am not mistaken? So this is more sort of confirmation of the status quo, not of "improvement" per say.
Bottomline, at release, we'll know w/ 100% certainty (as always) but the writing is on the wall with this one.
Downgrades happen to any game. Sometimes by need or choice (U4 MP) but it's just unfortunate when the differences are as stark vs. unveil footage.

C'mon you've gotta accept that it doesn't and never will look as good as the reveal. It doesn't look bad, but not the same quality as the reveal.
That said, I suspect the PC version will look substantially better, so there is still hope.
Just watched the first video, that is some low quality foliage, Jesus!

It looks pretty good to me, depends on the content but I'm glad I preordered it still.
Until any footage which looks comparable to the initial is shown and playable for consumers, any critique on the presentation should be heralded as opposed to lining up and waiting for your next hot plate of downgrade m8.
I never believed the reveal footage also. Was clearly a monster PC and was also along time ago. Hell even the consoles werent released at that time. So yeah its a "downgrade" if there needs to be a label on it. But i think real downgrades are Col Marines and maybe even Watchdogs. But The Division still looks really good imo. And the feeling and type of graphics are still there from the reveal trailer.
It's all relative. I think Watch Dogs applies to that same reasoning. Ubi does need to tone down a bit showing some of their games the way they do. It's not so much as believing them... I think a fair share of folks out there and here on Gaf are cautious when Ubi games are shown this way. When the downgrade happens, calling it out should be expected, whether you "knew it", or not.
This is an area where "targeting marketing" comes in handy if you know you're unsure/gonna slip more than likely. Still a disappointment for a lot of folks when you come out and say you're not going to meet that "target" but at least you were warned, in writing. As opposed to say, nothing.

The alpha is an older build than the one they have at the studio. Which I presume is where that footage comes from.
That's an official Ubisoft video.
Nothing in this video can be taken as fact AT ALL.
If memory serves, Ubisoft isn't exactly the poster child for PC gaming either...
...remember Watch_Dogs? What an unmitigated clusterf*ck that turned out to be....
