I am worried about the open world comment. I want to believe it will be for the better but ......=/
I think you guys can just look at Versus 13 footage if you want to know how the world is going to look.
Where are you reading this? Because it sounds like that's what we're gonna get.Just lol
So they split the game and dont put world like ff 15 or even 12 ? then why the fuck you split the game then ?
Tabata , finish ff 15 and take the helm of this again, Nomura is a joke to me at this point.
I assumed they were going to make a large world similar to just cause 3. Nomuras comments make it seem like he doesnt want to do that.

I hope I didn't dream this, but wasn't there an old interview for Versus XIII where someone talked about testing a flyable airship for the first time in almost full scale and one of the devs remarked how amazing it was to see and 'It felt like Final Fantasy is finally back' or something along those lines?

I can dig up certain quotes online about the airship but nothing with the dev reaction part.
But that quote used to get me so hyped and made me think that I would no longer have to worry about this kind of thing anymore when they finally decide to remake VII, I was much more concerned about the crossdressing sequence and the other charming moments of the game being cut out instead, which funnily enough they've rectified they aren't removing completely. But then I suppose there's a reason Versus XIII never got off the ground and I know a lot of people are concerned with that happening to VII, but it's still a huge bummer if that is what they're indicating they are doing.
I suppose like has already been mentioned the actual scale of the world map was very much an illusion and was actually very linear A to B stuff, you could backtrack on Disk 1 but there wasn't really much to accomplish by doing so until you had the airship and revisited places on Disk 2/3 which could be done like FFX. But i'd still be upset for sure and that would definitely be the biggest thing to make me stick with the original as my definitive version. That and depending on how the Materia system is handled now they've changed the battle system to action based.
I needed a world map that I could explore later in the story. This sounds like it won't be the case here. God forbid they decide to go with the FFX route =/We already know the journey and locations are split between different games, so they are more concerned with the density of each location than making it a seamless open world like FF15. Makes sense.
For FF15 anyway, a lot of that is populated with empty speed tree stuff, atleast for the open locations, and not actual things in the environment to interact with. To make a densely packed environment is much more difficult nowadays

My hype is slowly dying with each new info that they are releasing.
Sadly this is what I fear. I feel like they're using the first part to get acquainted with the engine and designing the game, so they don't have to tackle the "open" aspect of the game right away.Any guesses on how the content will be broken up?
I feel like the first 6-10 hours of the game (all of Midgar) will basically be the 1st episode, since it's relatively easy to pull off because you spent most of your time in Midgar seeing the same 4 places and it was also very linear.
Then the remainder of the 1st disc after Midgar will be the 2nd episode.
The 3rd episode will consist of the entire 2nd CD.
And the fourth episode will be the all encompassing release that will allow you to grind, explore, breed Chocobos, and of course finish the game and defeat Sephiroth.
That's sort of how I see it playing out.

I sure hope there's an overworld, because where else am I supposed to get my Main Theme fix?
Fingers crossed that Midgar itself is pretty damn big and explorable.
There could still be a lot of exploration in the regions that matter. There's a lot of waste involved with XV's model.
I'm speculating there will there will still be an airship to fly around the globe. You just can't land it anywhere.
"-The social situation has changed since the original game's release, so they have to be very careful with how they recreate the events. Stuff like Honeybee..."some stuff from Dengeki
sorry for poor translation as always.
-The game will be fully voiced, so for those who weren't in Advent Children will need to be casted.
-The date event will be fully voiced as well of course

-Regarding the map, they can't comment on it yet but Nomura is not obsessed with with so-called open world or sandbox style. Nomura is more focused on the environment and how gameplay affects the environment.
-They want to put as many of the popular mini-games from the original. They are not sure if they will include every single one of them though..
-As for the development, they feel they just got done with the initial stage. There is still a long way to go.
-Can't comment on releasing it on the FF7 20th anniversary (January 31st, 2017)
-Nomura has KH 2.8 and World of Final Fantasy for 2016, so the next info on FF7 Remake will probably be after those titles are done.
I would have been much more comfortable with a turn-based battle system. I am not against what they have shown but I am not automatically assuming it will be fun to play either.
Im hoping we see a sort of "above the clouds" airship system, so you can fly around, see landmarks under you, chase the weapon, but if you try landing in a small/secret area (like Knights of the Round Island) you'll get Cid saying something like "Woah!! Can't land their Booboo!".
That would solve alot of issues and still make the highwind fun.
Let's assume there is some world exploration. Should the game let you fast travel?
@$!@#%@#%^ @%@#% @#^@#^@#^^ F#%%#%# ^#^#$^#$^
He'll probably just say "damn pizza".
I'm okay with that.
How can it be open world when they say it will be episodic?
The more I hear about this the less interested I become.
It's not like they cursed in the first place, they simply used some rough words. Cursing doesn't really exist in Japanese, at least not like we think of it in English. You know, reading all that reminded me: the cursing, especially among Cid and Barret, will most likely be gone due to the fact censoring would be strange if fully voiced.
So much for the "fucking pizza" line.
Edit:
That will probably be the case, which is fine. It's always jarring to play FF7 due to said lines.

Nah. Keep the pacing and world design similar to the original. I like my JRPG more linear and handcrafted in nature in terms of narrative and gameplay progression, with opportunities to side track along the way for side quests or hidden areas. I don't want open world exploration, tons of map icons to chase after, fast travel, minimap, all that sort of things found in Western games.
hawt
edit: WAIT WHY AM I THE GIRL
I'm about half-way through FFVII HD and the whole worry about the Remake being open-world or linear doesn't actually matter a whole lot at all. FFVII gives off a pretty false sense of exploration throughout most of the game, because you are extremely limited as to where you can go and what you can see, so your path is extremely linear.
It isn't until you get the Highwind that you're able to fully explore the entire world, which is why I think my prediction of how they'll release the episodes seems to make the most amount of sense.
The Mass Effect set up would be perfect actually. In terms of scope of each game and continuing a massive story through several games. It's not episodic, its multiple full retail games like Mass Effect. Your save/progress/level/gear will likely transfer over to each new game.
This.
People tend to forget that FF games are linear as hell for like 60-70% of the game.

I hope this means expanded storyline for characters like Cid and less on emo Cloud.
