Whats embarrassing about that thread was that it was from 2012.
And after the disastrous E3 Nintendo had that year.

I'm sitting at £350 as my upper limit. I don't think it will be sub 300.
This needs to be in every PS4 sales OP.Yeah, have fun finding even one who predicted a clear PS4 win.
Some of the logic spewing out of that thread, it wasn't just people predicting a PS4 failure but people wanting to see it fail. Microsoft was never truly successful in other countries regardless, which is probably why they don't even bother anymore. Anybody remember those exclusive JRPGs for Xbox 360 that got quickly forgotten?
This is the loser's way of thinking. If they were never successful in other countries then they stand to gain the most by doing more to covet consumers in those countries. They have no where to go but up. They already have the interest in NA.
Each Forza since 5 has sold at the very least a million copies and I'm not sure if that's even including the Xbox 360 versions of 5 and Horizon 2. And honestly they don't really need a break because both series offer completely different expereinces. Forza Motorsport is strictly a racing simulator and Forza 6 it doing over a million since its release is pretty damn good. Forza Horizon 2 is an open world racing gaming that's a lot less realistic than the main series. It's a much of a difference between 2D Mario and 3D Mario. Both are platformers but they offer different styles of play.
edit: I maybe a little biased towards the Forza series since Horizon got me hooked, I'm loving the hell out of Forza Horizon 2 and I plan on getting Forza 6 soon. I kinda wish they get a third studio going so the development cycles of Horizon and the main series go even longer and have another new racing experience.

Gaming consoles are dead.
PS3 was out selling 360 yearly since it came out WW.
That thread is another case of USA = the world for some people .
Sony was selling more PS3 at the time around 2012 than Microsoft did it with the Xbox 360. Launch alligned was Sony ahead of Microsoft for a long time there.
People just like to think that the US market is the world and extrapolated it over the world (...)

Sony will be 2nd or maybe even 1st if Nintendo ends up messing up.
Dream big
which part is a dream?
Sony even being alive 6 years from now, let alone 1st or 2nd.
Well no, but things aren't going so well for Microsoft and Nintendo. I mean, the One's sales aren't nearly as bad as the Wii U, but they aren't great either. Certainly, there will be less consoles sold this generation than last. That's certain.
I made this prediction 2 years ago, I am pretty spot on thus far.
PS4
FY13 7.5
FY14 14.8
FY15 16
FY16 18
FY17 19
FY18 18
FY19 17
FY20 9
FY21 4
123.3

It's around 17.5 million from the estimates I've seen.Isn't boner at least 20 million worldwide right now or is it closer to 15 million? At least it's going good for MS, wish it was the same for Nintendo

Funny thread. I don't think it was bad to predict Wii U success. It was shocking how much it has failed from a sales point of view, and I don't think anyone thought it would be this bad. That said, the people predicting Sony to go third party or out of business were being ridiculous. In reality, the PS3 was an outlier as the one Sony console that didn't win its generation, and the Wii was an outlier as the one Nintendo console that did (at least in a while, like since the SNES).
I gotta dig through that and see if I posted a prediction.Yeah, have fun finding even one who predicted a clear PS4 win.
lmao. The king of terrible marketing.
Yeah, not at all. Hell, there's still parts of the US where their only source of internet is dial-up.
Trust me I'm not saying that Xbox One would have beaten the PS4 into the dust I'm saying that if Microsoft had not stumbled out the gate the market share would be very different. Xbox 360 just barely reach a few more consoles sold than PS3, so the core demographic was there from the start, poor marketing messed that all up for Microsoft. I also said it was the biggest but not the only factor to why Sony is leading the console sells. They made great decisions on price, features like PSN+, and exclusive deals like Street Fighter V which all benefit Sony's position but Sony has essentially been following the same strategy for years. They offered a cut-throat mentality for the Playstation and Playstation 2 era with affordable pricing, strong third party connections and being about hard core games from the get go. Both Nintendo and Microsoft had followed that same mentality before and at various points of video game history that worked out very well for them. Sony's overall strategy isn't anything new, it's something tired, true and proven to work but when compared to strategies that failed, it just becomes more successful.
Yeah, have fun finding even one who predicted a clear PS4 win.
The PS4 will do worse than the VITA, they have lost to much brand recognition, exclusives and they have IPs noone gives a shit about besides nerds on the internet. Coupled with no backwards compatibility (due to the abandonment of the Cell), Sony is destined for last place again. Failing all that, the PS4 will be $499-$549 and we will get a repeat of the PS3 but this time it will be much worse.
Quote me in 2 or 3 years. I know when something is about to bomb. Sony is very easy to read, even Patcher can do it.
I dunno. The reverse seems to be equally prevalent. The shear amount of drive-by fapping in all of the xbox one threads is sad. People try to play the objective card, but their overflowing joy that MS is getting beat so handily by the PS4 is glaringly obvious. "I'm just here for the discussion." That's a flawed way of looking at things IMO. And it seems like you are just showing your preference for MS exclusives. You mention Sunset Overdrive as a standout title for X1, still being talked about among fans, but not Infamous, which had similar critical reception, likely sold more, and had a standalone DLC release. MLB baseball is another group of people PS4 exclusively talks to. You are just cherry picking man.Even Killzone pushed console sales because at launch, it was a nice graphical showpiece, it doesn't matter how small that group was, all software that sells, has some sort of appeal to someone.I listed Until Dawn as an outlier, as one of the few exclusive games currently out that potentially push console sales. Rocket League & Transistor can be found on Steam and other platforms. These are not the titles that are making people run out and buy a PS4 right away. Every console out now has their share of smaller scale games so that's not a special point that Sony has going for it, when all of the big three has these type games. I'm super excited for Cuphead but it's definitely not the reason I had got an Xbox One. It's more of icing on the cake as would these smaller titles for bigger, console selling titles.
PT was from the creative force of two highly influential people in their respective industries. Putting Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro names towards a project would turn anybodies head in today's time as did associating Shigeru Miyamoto & Yuji Naka to a project in the 90s. Also if Silent Hills wasn't canceled it would have a game on massive scale.
A lot of that is that MS has no Idea what they're doing outside the NA region. They're used to being big and important enough that partners in other regions will do business on their terms. In Gaming they face actual competition and their size and scope elsewhere doesn't play as much a factor.
Iirc, X1 is tracking higher than 360 at this point in it's lifetime. Sure it's not 35.9 mill but X1 is still doing damn well so far.

It also shows that this board is predominantly American in its composition. Thus the feeling of most posters was Sony was getting beaten last gen, when in reality since ps3 launched it beat 360 every year. Just not in the US.Ah, good old days. I am sure I would have written similar nonsense then.
Also, friend of mine, suit in the industry, said back then that XboxOne will wipe the floor with the PS4 because it will be more powerful, have better online and architecture and will simply buy all important exclusives and marketing partnerships.
Oh, man, that thread.
It's been three years and some change, so a quote is appropriate.
Yeah, have fun finding even one who predicted a clear PS4 win.
This is just silly. Square made a game temporarily exclusive to one platform. So in order to make owners of the other platform feel better they give them a lifetime exclusive. Why does it need to be exclusive? For list wars and fanboy ego? That's just pathetic.Square Enix, you've made a rather large financial error, but you can make it up with Dissida FF which will be a lifetime exclusive apparently... And giving us Rise of the Tomb Raider with a discount.
This feeling was all around in the industry, not just US.It also shows that this board is predominantly American in its composition. Thus the feeling of most posters was Sony was getting beaten last gen, when in reality since ps3 launched it beat 360 every year. Just not in the US.
So basically you're upset that people are enjoying themselves in sales discussions. I get it. It's tough when people are mean about things you like on the Internet. Your supposition hinges on the idea that said 'big audience' would be buying those games but if they won't, we've seen plenty of examples of Publishers skipping the Xbone entirely...from Square-Enix and Namco-Bandai to Kalypso Media and Devolver Digital.
So....am i correct to say that even at the end of this year, people will be wondering where the games are?
SonyGAF rose from the ashes!!
This needs to be in every PS4 sales OP.
Maybe the potential (but objectively smaller) sales gained by putting something on Xbox One is not enough to offset the cost and manpower to do so.First of all why is big audience in quotes?
How is nearly 20 million people not a lot of people?
Secondly people are buying games on Xbox, maybe not certain types of games which would be why some games don't make it on there, and maybe for some dumb policies MS have but not because there's no-one buying stuff on Xbox.
LOL this old song and dance? Fact is, Sony IS in the position they are now because, you know, reality. Not a single console releases in a vacuum. Seems unusually picky to qualify the PS4's success based on the choices of the other platforms. That's how it goes every single time for every single console ever.Without the mistakes of MS and Nintendo, Sony probably wouldn't be in the position they are. Fortunately they did, and I got a shiny PS4 out of the deal.
Yes, but that thread is from 2012!!!
In 2017, people will still be wondering how the PS4 is selling so well with no games.
When the PS4 surpasses 100 million sold, people will still be wondering how it did it with no games.
