When they said "priced like a console" apparently they were referring to last gen's most expensive one. 599 US dollars indeed.

Actually the cost of entry is higher then $599.99 when you think about. If your PC is set hardware wise that's what you pay if you have that kind of money. If you were thinking about an upgrade as well you're looking at over $1000 easily to additionally get a GPU and/or CPU to run it. Don't those 970s and 980s run easily $250+? That's just for a first generation device.

Good thing Palmer was getting people prepared for the high price. It will be interesting to see how much the other VR's cost.

Vive has to 999.99 I would believe. O.R. just set the bar. My guess would be PSVR 499, Vive 999, OR now confirmed 599.

It is quite expensive. If I can get the damn store to load I'll preorder one and think about keeping it or not over the next month.

Seeing Palmer say that pre-orders wouldn't be charged until shipping totally changed my mind. And I was going to pre-order one.

Then I realized I was about to buy an untested first-gen piece of hardware from a company with no track record that includes 2 games with no reviews. For $600.

So I stopped. Thank common sense!

I like how people are ignoring that it is powerful and completely new technology catered towards the enthusiast pc gaming crowd, the one that can spend several hundreds on just a new cpu or graphics card every few years.

Take a look at what your smartphone costs if it wasn't subsidized by carriers and contracts.

That sucks. I desperately want this to take off, because my experiences with the device have been the most mind blowing game experiences of my life.

But at 600 dollars, even I'll wait.

Yeah. At this point I'm wondering if I should jump in at the second generation of this device instead. $400 is an easier pill to swallow in case later on I wanted to get the second improved version.

My hope was $399, my guess was $499.

Ok, i guess maybe i will be able to buy in a few years, my hope is PSVR on price, but i'm almost positive to be disappointed by it too.

Palmer: "The rift won't get sold out, don't worry."

No wonder, he knew just for the price he lost 70% of the potential sales.

The door's wide open for Sony now, that's for sure. Even if manufacturing and development costs were to be exactly the same, they could afford to sell it at a loss.

ITT: People who don't know how much expensive very advanced screen tech and a crap load of sensors cost.

First generation devices are always expensive.
Playstation VR is going to cost about as much, I suspect.

Shiiiiiiiiiiit. That's at the top-end of my expectations. Will wait to hear the price of PS VR or just wait a few years before jumping in.
