Hope the change still means this month. Need that iOS version ASAP. It's the only way I'll probably finish the game.

Hope it's a good port. Glad they are putting in a speed up mode. I've played IX a year or 2 ago but don't really remember much about its weird side quests. I played vii recently, does it have side stuff that is similar to that? To get those achievements I did probably 10 hours of grinding at the end of 7. Does 9 do that, are there super bosses?

9 was the best of the psone trio for side stuff.

There's one superboss, and it's hard as shit.
last time I did I playthru I had damn near max stats, all my attacks were doing 9999, and the battle was still felt luck-based due to the fact that it can one shot your party with some moves and sometimes it gets to go twice in a row. fuck that.

I will beat you on my PC for all the times you pissed me off on my PSX you piece of shit Ozma!

Is that thread title necessary? I don't understand FFXV shitposting.

I mean, you could've played this game 15 years ago if you hadn't, but I'm not looking to get into a debate... just pointing out the obvious.

It was a joke. But thanks for the concern.

Also, for the sake of the argument, I already have this on my Vita.

i have a bad feeling that they will price the game at like 30 bucks or something. I am just holding off because i just don't have any confidence in squenix in doing something right at the launch of a title..

Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns which was recently released was 19.99 it seems likely this would be priced similarly.

I had this on PlayStation and I don't know where the fuck it's went. I've lost FFVIII as well. I only have V and VI collection, VII and X.
I must have given IX and VIII to someone and never got them back because I doubt I would have sold them. Weird that I don't remember what happened to them.

I'm curious to know whether these have been upscaled or whether they actually had uncompressed versions still lying around. If it's the latter, that alone makes this version worth it, as the cutscenes in this game are incredible.

I'm curious about this too. The cutscenes really are great, and I'm in that minority that didn't really go gaga for FFIX.

Don't worry, there is a shady shadow cult floating above the mountains of GAF trying their best to bring XV down with all means necessary; they don't want Tabata to win, they don't want to see a Japanese RPG - forged with the finesse of an old katana smith - stomp on RPGs produced in the west and take back the throne to where it originally belongs; ironically, this is also the story of XV

Think I might actually get this on PC.

The future PS4 release won't have all those tasty mods.

I saw some of the prerendered background enhancement mods for FF8 and they do a good job at improving them.

3, 4, After Years, 5, 6, 13, 13-2, Lightning Returns and Type-0 have trading cards.
7 and 8 don't because when they released those on Steam they weren't incorporating trading cards in their games yet.

It was specifically 7 and 8 I was referring to, as in the other PS1 games. They should patch them in for the extra cash they generate. Stupid not to.

Oh my god, the FFXV meta trolling has reached a point where I don't even know whose posts are real anymore.

This is great.

I don't think anyone can blame anyone for being irked by XV's release........ schedule. At the end of the day we're all gonna play it anyway.

So who wants to take bets on FF12 HD releasing before XV?

I'll buy it.
It's the second best FF game after all, right after 12.

Let the 34986783402043608682385th annual "which FF is the bast" debate begin!

I didn't expect them to actually remake the models. Neat.

Too bad they lost the source material for the backgrounds.

Source is one thing. The entire process of resizing to PSX resolution, touching up, and animating is another thing altogether. No idea how much effort that was, nor recreating it at a higher resolution.

Missed out on 9. Couldnt get passed how bad the ps1 versions looked blown up on PS3. I will have to give this a go at some point. After a sale. I dont like double dipping unless its something special.

Did FF8 ever get ported to mobile? Maybe at some point that will happen a long side a PS4 port and then FF9 after.

HD CG is cool. Not sure I like the idea of downloading 20 gigs for it but its cool

Additional Features
・Achievements
・Seven game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes.
・Autosave
・High-definition movies and character models.

Honestly that's more effort put in than I expected. Maybe it's a good thing that FFIX didn't get a PC port until just now. It is a bit suspicious that there no UI visible though.

For anyone who hasn't played FF9 I highly recommend it. 7 is my favorite but I would have to say that FF9 is hands down the best overall FF game imo. The only reason I love 7 more was because of the impact it had on me. The beginning of the game is perfect in every way, something that is impossible to pull off. Fun characters, excellent music and gorgeous pre rendered backgrounds. The only downside were the slow battles but they seem to be addressed with the new "high speed mode".

Again I highly recommend it FF9 to anyone who loves RPG's. Its arguably the best JRPG you are going to find. This is Square Soft at its peak.

This is the first time the pc port will drop at the same time of the mobile one, right? This gives me more hope for a better, desktop-oriented UI, as the project was less of an afterthought than the previous ones.

I tried this game on PS1 recently and was impressed at how well it stands up today

Better than FFXII did (I'd love a HD remaster since the detail level is fine but LOD is extremely severe especially for NPC's)

OK, I've done a comparison with the PS1 version emulated at the same resolution as those screenshots. Nice to see that it's not just the main party members that get updated models.

Character models and textures are definitely an improvement, but I'm not sure if I prefer the backgrounds filtered or not.

Oh, shit. They really DID update the polys on the models, didn't they?

Fucking awesome.

Since it seemed it was built from the ground up, or at least more so than FF7 since that was a earlier PC port, I was hoping to see it for Mac. Oh well, I'll wait for the eventual PS4 version. Those list of updates look sooooo good. My 2nd favorite after VI.

Really? I have no memory of it, really I feel like 7 has the side stuff people talk about, but that's unfair because 7 is much more popular.
Outside of the ps1 trilogy what other games did good side stuff?
