Amplitude 2015 [OT] Rock The Disco Tech

I loved amplitude back in the day. I saw this on the store didnt even know they were making one. Jumped right in playing on expert. Realized using square, triangle, circle is damn near impossible on expert and it made my hand cramp. I used to play that way on old one. So just started playing default way with shoulder buttons. I got used to it pretty quick and im half way through the campaign. Loving it alot so far. Sounds fantastic bumping on the surround sound. So glad this came back.
Where is my Slipknot song though?!?! Haha

Good luck using that position when you have to do anything rapid in the right lane. The DS4's R2 has far too much travel to work at that pace.

Nah, it's not bad at all really. Yes the R2 button has a alot of travel, but you only need to depress it slightly for the register.

Now granted, I haven't done All the songs on expert, but what I have played, it seems to be doing me well.

R2 works more than well for Intermediate/Advanced play. You don't have to pull the trigger in all the way, just tap.

I'm playing on expert. There is fuck all comfortable about playing anything post-Astrolight.

I'm playing on Intermediate now to see what it's like and it's like playing perma-Sedate. At this point it's a choice between bored or pissed off.

Well, there's always Advanced, which is in-between Intermediate and Expert. Shit still gets pretty tough on harder songs.

I unlocked all the songs, but it looks like if you've moved up a difficulty and got less than 3 bars on a song you already 3-barred on a lower difficulty, you won't get the trophy for it.

I know I 3-barred every song on at least Intermediate, but it replaced a few of those with 2 bars when I moved up to Expert.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the requirements for the Luminary trophy, but all it says is "Get a triple bar rating on all songs.".

Meh, I'm gold baring & Top 100ing songs on Expert with L1-R1-R2. Not sure what you people's issues are with R2, no problems for me. Works just fine. You're doing it wrong if it's that bad.

I've been looking forward to this, but I'm unfortunately only with a PS3. Probably my most-played PS2 game outside of GTA.

I hope it comes soon.

I'm pressing a button wrong?

What could possibly be wrong about index on L1, index on R1, middle on R2.

I play with the d-pad controls (Blitz control layout). Works well. Can't go above intermediate difficulty... which is similar to my experience with Rock Band/Guitar Hero, usually play those on Easy.

I love music games but have no rhythm at all so gotta stick to those low difficulties.

Upper Hand has been going pretty well for me so far as far as controls. The only execution I am having issues with now I outlined below. Maybe someone has some ideas now that it is in more hands...

I've pretty well adjusted to Upper Hand at this point. Have climbed back up to 1500+ scores on pretty much every track. The only struggle I am still having is pulling off the tight rolling sweeps (L-M-R -> L-M-R -> L-M-R) or vice versa. Not sure what exactly it is as I don't recall having much issues back in the day and have no problem with it on plastic guitars.

My best guess at the moment is the guitar games are a little more forgiving about 'hammer-on/pull-off" and I just can't seem to get that same tactile feel on the controller.

Do any Amplitude wizards know for absolute sure what the rules are around this, like do you have to press and completely depress the previous button in a tight situation like that or will it forgive a tiny bit of overlap?

Did all of Beginner campaign with L1-R1-R2 combo. Gonna try L1-R1-Circle next to see if I like that.

Never played the series before, I like it. I don't understand why the game decided to offset the colors and completely distort vision for the last song of the campaign, that fucking sucked, but other than that I enjoyed it a lot. Excited to do the other difficulties.

Dalatecht
Assault On Psychofortress
Energize
Astrosight
Synthesized
Phantoms
Crystal
Entomophobia (Which reminds me of Kimosabe for some reason)

Those are the songs I like.

Feels good to play Amplitude again. As soon as I unlock Super, I'll start trying for high scores.

oh mah god. Just did a bunch of weird tests. All that matters is button down? You don't need to depress buttons at all? This changes everything.

You can even continue to hold buttons down indefinitely while pressing other buttons. It seriously only cares about button press. I was trying so hard to keep my inputs clean. This is so much easier now.

I hope we really do get some DLC. So far I enjoy the bonus tracks more than the campaign ones. That Crypt of the Necrodancer song is amazing so songs from other games would be jut fine.

That's for $20 in PSN credit. It was never a guarantee that there would be post-launch DLC, just that if there was, you could use that $20 credit to buy it.

Fair enough, but that reward text reads pretty clearly they intended to do DLC. They could have done a better job communicating that changed. Was it ever addressed in a backer update? A simple "hey, shit happens, we had best intentions.." would have been enough. Having to dig through Twitter replies is kind of junk.

Why no DLC? I would buy the shit out of it, this game is ace.

Anyway I bought it yesterday, and decided to change the controls to L1, X, R1, and made it through the campaign, but it never once felt natural, and I missed notes a lot during harder parts. I switched back to the default L1, R1, R2 and it feels a TON more natural to me. So much so I am doing better.

I don't get the complaint about no licensed songs. This experience is wholly unique thanks to a soundtrack of songs I've never heard before. And even the "weird" ones are growing on me.

I was dying laughing the whole time that
Crypt of the Necrodancer item shop
song was playing. Holy shit. <3

Please for the love of all that is holy, I hope this game gets additional support.

Please tell me there's online coop, this would be so damn fun with other people and couch coop isn't an option for me.

I wish :(. Online multiplayer was a Kickstarter goal, but it was never reached. They also mentioned they won't be implementing it later on.

Something that is bugging the hell out of me, after I finish a song with a new high score, there is nothing. Nothing on the screen telling me I beat my old record or anything. There should be more to the "song complete" screen, I don't really feel like I'm completing anything when I clear a song. All my songs have a rating of 3 since I cleared them for the first time, and even that doesn't change when you select a different difficulty. Am I missing something?

Been playing the shit out of it for the past week or so, backed it waaaaay back then pushed it out of my head so I could come in fresh.

Feels like old times, really want some DLC. Miku DLC plz.

Just finished my first campaign. Started with Intermediate, which maybe wasn't the best idea as I've never played one of these before. Hitting the notes has been pretty good for the most part, but I'm awful at streaking when the start and end notes on different tracks get close enough together, and I'm also bad at sequencing--sometimes I can't even see the next note because the only available track is on the opposite side of the field. Now that I've unlocked FreQ mode, I might try the tunnel option to see if that helps. (Maybe it won't!)

I wish you could replay songs in the campaign instead of having to play the whole thing over to try and unlock the last song in each section. At least the campaign doesn't take too long to play through, so it's not that bad to replay. In fact, I might do it right now...

I believe that you can use Share Play to fake online multiplayer, though it's very dependent on both peoples connections.

Welp, I backed this game and am unable to download my copy. Seems a lot of other backers are having trouble too. Some are unable to redeem their code, like myself, which seems to be affecting many Australian backers going by the comments. Error says that the code is invalid or has already been redeemed. Other backers haven't received a code yet.

So does this game just not play well with the videos recorded using the Share Button? Every time I try to record a clip, the resulting video is very slow/choppy? Maybe choppy isn't the word, it's just really bleh. Is that a result of the video being stripped down to 30fps instead of the in game 60?

So I'm a little confused. Do you only get one shot at the campaign? I just finished it but need to go back and full bar some songs, but I can't select the song and it keeps trying to load 14. If I select Restart it says it will delete my progress. Do I have to start from the beginning if I want to try to unlock the last song?

Anybody tried the demo? What's the content? Worth the day or two of DL that it would take me?

Unfortunately yes, that seems to be the case. Unless you can get a 10 bar course total from replaying Dalatecht.

Love this game sooo much, last night literally couldn't stop playing it, it definitely brought some good old PS2 days memories back.

Ridiculous, EU code still won't work.

I'm located in Central Europe, and got my code on Tuesday: redeemed it through the PS4 store without a hitch.

Still cannot redeem code in Australia.

Why not let the PS4 record automatically since it does the last 15 minutes of everything you do? After you have a good run, hold the share button and trim the clip.
