That last game was great, that team was ranked 128 and had three guys with 99s and we had one CPU player. I know Sizzle was pissed when he saw those ratings lol, but the gritty veteran Bert settled our team down and carried us through with his play late in the 4th.

I'm new to basketball and nba. Any tips for a beginner?! On PS4

What would you like to know? You should check out a few NBA games and just try to copy what they do, go into the practice mode and mess around with running plays and freestyle. It's a little daunting to jump into, a lot of playing the game is about knowing which opponent to let shoot and their tendencies.

It's pretty fun to use them to be honest, I'm only an 81 right now but his little ass gets anywhere on the court lol. I can't finish in the lane but I can get into the paint and everyone wants to block the little guys shot so they chase me in the paint.

A team of 5 small guys with 90+ speed and quickness could shred teams with ball movement and pushing off made baskets. The center and power forwards would always be forced to guard someone they have no chance with and I think we'd be able to swarm post players and recover to shooters

Defense is a little more difficult as a small player, your "force field" seems to be smaller and you have to be careful with the sprint button because the littles guys fly all over the place.

I've gotten a lot better at scoring with my guy, realistically I can get off a shot really anytime I want because he's so quick. People lose you in transition a lot too

Holy crap. Playing with CPU in Pro-Am is a headache. Especially when they're your big men. They don't jump to contest shots, pick up players on fast breaks. Jesus.

Only thing they're good for is the godlike reaction time in passing lanes lol.

And two of my friends are awful at the game. Awful in a sense that they take terrible shots and try to iso. They're the SG and keep freaking stealing the ball from me on take outs when I'm the PG and far superior in scoring and playmaking. It's a PITA but I have no choice at the moment and obviously those type of players don't like playing as PF or C.

Sigh.

I try to point out some of my friends mistakes but he obviously sees the screen differently or something because when I ask him why he took a certain shot with a defender right in front of him. His response "I was open."

No, no you were not. You don't even have deadeye.

We usually roll with a point, two wings, two bigs. Sometimes just one big and two guards and two forwards

I thought I had subscribed to this thread. I didn't know y'all turned this into a discussion about our Pro-Am games! We need to play tonight. Think it's been 2 days since our last game. Finally started moving back up once abu came back to the team. We were struggling without him.

Also, in one of my games, I'm hot. I'm 9/9 on 3s. This is off ball too. We were losing but my hot streak puts us in the lead. We get like an 8 pts lead and all of a sudden, they stop going to me. Our PG kept feeding me the ball but when he didn't, the other person wouldn't swing it. They would try to iso or shoot over two people. I would still be wide open in the corner. And then 2K decides to work in the law of percentages and I missed two perfect releases to tie the game. One from midrange and one from 3. We end up losing of course by like 3. Sad, sad day.

Playing Homicide Gang is cheese central, I'm assuming their big men have maxed out playmaker because they make 70 foot passes like it's nothing. One guy runs middle while two other guys flare out to corners and that is basically their entire offense, that and zig-zagging in the halfcourt.

Yeah they did exactly what I remembered from the first time we played them. Just dance around and shoot 3's and make ridiculous full court passes when we miss. Both of our guards just threw easy passes out of bounds that game when their big guys made all those deep passes. We kept making runs and getting it pretty close but then some BS would start happening and they would pull away again. If we could ever play them when we have a full team I think we can beat them it still probably wouldn't be fun playing them though.

Yeah I'm certain we can beat them, we just keep playing them when we're down a person and not using our best players. It wouldn't be fun considering how cheesey they play but their tactics are easy to slow down, especially since they always break down court when a shot goes up.

Hit a game winner last night while having a pretty bad shooting night in Pro-Am. Well, half the shots I were taking were bad shots (or shots that I didn't want to take with that lag/pump fake cheese) but man did that feel good. We had 1 timeout left at the 15 second mark and my cousin decides to take it for some reason. He had already pushed the button when I was saying that we didn't need to. We score and go up by 1 and the opposing team's SG does his best MJ impression and it bounces in. Their SG was abusing my other friend the entire night. He dropped like 32 on him or something. So there's 1.5 seconds left.

No time-outs.

I tell my squadmates, "I got this. I got ice in my veins. I'm taking this shot."

I see their PG getting stuck in that dumb celebration animation. I take off. I'm hoping that my friend doesn't try to steal the inbound from me like he always does. (I hate SGs that do this) Stupid A.I. does like two pass fake for some reason (2K seriously needs to fix that because it's annoying) so I'm mashing the X button as I run past half-court. He inbounds the ball. I'm running. I catch it at the wing where the corner 3 starts to bend. Let it fly. PG is a little late.

It goes in and I do the LeBron in my room while I can hear my cousin going crazy over PSN lol...

I play them to get VC, for the most part they can be downright awful though, the best position to play them with is center. If you use your PG you'll have guys that run up and try to get the inbound before you, everyone wants to run the offense regardless of their position. When you play center you're matched up with a lot of guys who are playing with small forwards so you can clean house.

Sometimes you'll end up on teams where people play their roles and you end up winning a lot, that game we were up 17-0 and 48 to 17 at the half lol.

Centers seem to be respected in the pickup games, there will be some terrible teams but for the most part a good amount of players will get you the ball on cuts. If you're setting up shop and waiting for a pass into the post then yeah they don't do that lol, you'll get the ball a lot on cuts though.

I had maybe my best game ever going and it kicked me out with an error, had 21pts, 17rebs, 7asts, 4blks, 5stls and it was the start of the 4th! Was using my 6'7" PF, I absolutely love him when he's matched up against small forwards or power forwards that aren't 7'3" lol.

PS4 users are lucky. X1 is where all the cheesers are and PC has the cheaters. You can't win on X1 if the guards don't know how to set up corner cheese and if you don't have a 7'3 center. SG, SF, and PF are the positions that are a real show of skill if you play as them. Especially SG since they can't pull off the corner cheese consistently.

Made a 6'10 Outside SF. 75 3 is good but I feel like 82 is kinda where the sweet spot is in terms of consistency. I wanted to make a big man but I didn't want to be 7'3 cheese and slow as crap. Even though 68 speed still feels slow as crap.

I'll max out my two forwards then, each one brings something different and as long as there are two big men the 6'7" PF will end up playing SF, so I should be able to post up opposing SFs with him and with one of the big men shooting jumpers he'll be able to outrebound all wing players.

My PG is technically almost maxed out since outside, athlete, playmaking are already at 20, and defense is at 17 but I'll have that at 20 soon enough.

I'm pretty sure it's automatic. But in a quick game setting or when starting a MyGm or MyLeague, you press Triangle or Y on consoles and it'll let you pick the official roster or a custom roster.

Hmm thanks. I did the official roster but it doesn't seem to be current (Furkan is still on the sixers/Kawai is 87/steph is 93). Weird, maybe there's a Christmas Day glitch or something.

That 5 PG game was fun and I think we could have won had it not been for them having a CPU on their team. The CPU plays the passing lanes too well and you don't get as many defensive breakdowns with them, we should have let Grbac iso the CPU and take deep threes, that seems to work in the walk on pro am.

Our help defense was amazing though lol

My itch for a new 2K game is really picking at me. I got both 2K14 and 15, I usually skip these games once every 2 or 3 years. It's 40 bucks now, 30 is my "buy now" point.

I can't beat the West All Stars in domination, the last three times I tried I won by 15+ points, but was still 50 points away from even one star. I didn't have any trouble getting three stars on any of the other teams, but I don't know what to do against the West All Stars.

Just remember that the boost does work. Centers need 60 passing accuracy and level 14 gets you 61 but I got to level 11 (55 accuracy) and then got that boost so I could spend my last three on my jump shooting rating

Very cool, my SF is a 10 in playmaking not sure what that translates, but I'll definitely have to use boosts for the PF.

Who are the 5 for the Road by the way and what lineups, should I boost my PG/PF/SF and just leave my center alone since you and Grbac have better big men.

I guess I'll raise my inside scoring on my PG then too, I never go to the rim because he's short and well I'm only level 2 inside.


That's no reason to feel guilty, that's how all the top teams play, we can just say you're our Wes Unseld with the outlet passes.
