FWIW, save for some minor grandstanding in a few bits, The Big Short is refreshingly and surprisingly accurate on the actual Economics of what's going on.

I loved the movie and recommend it to everyone with even a passing interest in it.

My takeaway from this thread has been that I should actually watch The Big Short.

Yes you should. You absolutely should. If for nothing else because every American should see it for educational purposes. Heck Europeans as well. If only to see how Americans helped fuck you too.

It is a hard movie to sell through trailers because it is like a docu-dramedy.

Did they really give the best picture winners like 30 seconds before playing music? They're over time, but still. Give 'em a minute, geez. You're already over time, what's one more minute? What an embarrassment.
