Graphically looks better but not as much as I thought : / Oh well. Never finished this Zelda because the first 5-6 hours of the game were pretty tedious but can't say no to this HD version and that cool af amiibo.

It's a HD remaster, how much better do you expect it to look? It already looks better than what people originally thought it looked.

Ganon + Hero Mode is just going to be unfun.

Dark Nuts would be a damn nightmare to fight.

Do we have confirmation that Hero Mode is definitely a separate thing from Ganondorf? And if so, that it will double the damage in Hero Mode?

I guess the fact that it hasn't been mentioned yet pretty much rules out Wiimote controls for this. I was hoping you could play both versions HDified. Too bad. :(

Famitsu has been accurate so far, no reason to doubt them now.

That is when the real dark souls happens.

Level 1 nude Dark Souls maybe, and that's assuming Hero Mode is only 2x damage and not something like 4x damage. Can you imagine 8x the damage? You'd get hit by a random arrow and instantly just fall over dead.

This amiibo shit is annoying as fuck! I don't wanna have to buy some $15+ toy just to have a reasonably challenging difficulty.

You DON'T. There is a Hero Mode in the game by default which makes you take 2x the damage. The Ganondorf amiibo is if you want 4x the damage

"New challenge levels"

I played those on the Gamecube.

Also, I dislike how outside of the UI and screen resolution, the game looks identical to the Gamecube version as well. Both WWHD and this are huge missed opportunities since they are on hardware that could do the concept art justice for those games.

No you didn't. The Cave of Ordeals is still in the game, this is a new challenge area with 40 floors featuring the Twilight enemies and whatever else didn't get used in the Cave of Ordeals + gimmick stuff like lava tiles.

Yes, it's reusing stuff already in the game but it's still new content as it wasn't there before.

I'm honestly cool with all of the Amiibo functionality in this game, beside maybe Zelda/Sheik, since they give probably too much health back, but I can see why they would decide on these as their functions. The least fun part of Zelda for me is when I'm about to die and I have to go cut every piece of grass so I can get my magic/heath/bombs/arrows to a spot where I feel comfortable going forward.

So you're scored in the Cave of Darkness is based on the number of hearts you have left?

I'm okay with that.

Isn't Zelda/Sheik limited to once per day? I think it'd be cooler if it was maybe useless in dungeons/important areas, but worked just about all the time in the field.

OH, it's once a day? I thought it was like once every 30 minutes or something. I guess that's fine.

Still silly as hell. ALBW features enemies that do 4x right out of the box, no extra peripherals needed.

It's an extremely gimmicky and gross way to incentivize people to cough up cash for their toyline, imo. The only way I can play the hardest difficulty is if I buy their toy.

Yea, I don't see how people can defend this. It's gross as shit.

It's not exactly difficult to code additional given damage or anything. Not worth $15.

The new cave is Wolf Link only? Yuck, Wolf Link was way less fun to play as.

I said this in the previous topic that mentioned the cave being wolf form only. How can they stretch a 40 floor cave with nothing but enemy encounters when the wolf is inferior to use in combat?

I certainly hope Ganondorf amiibo and Hero Mode stack, and do so that it's 4x (and not just 2.5x or 3x).

King Bulblin would deal 12 hearts damage that way!

But ALBW didn't take away getting hearts from grass or the other stuff WWHD's Hero Mode does that TPHD will almost surely copy (though not confirmed yet obviously).

I don't agree with it either (them locking another multiplier behind an amiibo) but saying that the game doesn't include a difficulty option just because it isn't as hard as you'd like it to be is a fallacy. The fact is Hero Mode even with a 2x multiplier is a difficulty option. It is a harder version of the game. Just not as hard as it should be without an amiibo. :/

Now, you could make the argument that it's like a Very Hard option and sure I'd agree with that.

I was more than fine with all the changes in WW. TP is not on WW's level. It has severe pacing issues, and is overall so poorly structured. Alot of these problems carried over to Skyward Sword.

Totally disagree, outside the intro TP has the best pacing. finish a dungeon and you are thrust into another overworld quest basically right away. Nearly Every mini game is part of the main quest, it hurts the side quests but it means the main quest is extremely varied and always has something to do. That leads right to the next dungeon, there is almost no down time.

Going by looking in the distance sharpness, this is definitely 1080p.

And going from that immediately to the Zelda U snippit at the end, that's definitely 720p.
Both of these were probably pretty obvious, but now i'm sure. 30fps with no dips is the next goal.

Game looks really good. Can't wait to go back to it. Twilight Princess is still one of the best adventures of all time.

But Wind Waker HD looked a lot better than the original while TPHD looks kinda the same except for a few high res textures here and there. I was just hoping they updated the lighting like they did on WWHD but it seems it's the same as the original wich makes everything have that yellowish muddy tint that doesn't look that good IMO. Will buy anyways just so I can finish this Zelda once and for all :)

Eh, it might be for the better. I didn't like the new lighting in TWW and still prefer playing my Gamecube copy with Dolphin. I understand it's a preference and others prefer the newer lighting, though.

I'm really happy with the way this game looks. They made a mistake showing the scenes and areas they did in the reveal, they were too drab.

They had incentive to do a "remake" for that game.

Not much incentive to do one for this title this late in a poorly played game.

Well it's a good thing Ganondorf also can be used in eight other games to improve his value proposition. Or is everyone here buying a Wii U just for Twilight Princess HD without buying any other Wii U games?

BTW, he costs about $11 after tax with GCU or Amazon Prime. And you're not just buying DLC, you're also buying a detailed, well-painted, displayable figure of a cool character that probably could have been sold for $9.99 just as a figure without the NFC stuff.

I sure am glad for that amiibo tap(tm) functionality.

Honestly Twilight Princess needs a lot of changes to it to be a great game. It was my most disappointing game ever. I thought it was truly going to be as good as Ocarina or Majora's Mask was but it was pretty average and had a lot of flaws. I'll just keep on playing my Gamecube copy.

No, because like cheats and cheat codes they are entirely optional. My goodness half of you guys dont even have the amiibo so why even care?

I think you're misunderstanding what I am saying.

They can put this in there and I can choose to use it or not. That's fine by me.

But doesn't Nintendo care that they're basically saying "Yeah this game was made with careful consideration to the damage done and how many potions you can carry etc. to give players a challenge that when they overcome will give them a great amount of satisfaction. But give us $15 for this toy and you can just keep giving yourself health."

Like what's next? Tap the amiibo and have AI control your character for you.

Seems disrespectful to the act of game design and the reason people play games in the first place. That's all I meant.
