Far Cry: Primal & Rise of the Tomb Raider Will Be Protected By Denuvo Anti-Tamper

After Square, EA, Konami and WB, Ubisoft have joined the Denuvo train as well with Far Cry Primal.

Going into more details, Far Cry: Primal’s EULA clearly states that the game uses Denuvo:

“THE PRODUCT IS PROTECTED BY DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE (“DRM SOFTWARE”) AND DENUVO ANTI-TAMPER PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY”

What’s really interesting here is that according to this EULA, some files of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech may remain on the PC even after the game’s uninstalled.

“CERTAIN FILES OF THE ANTI-TAMPER TECHNOLOGY MAY REMAIN EVEN AFTER THE PRODUCT IS UNINSTALLED FROM YOUR COMPUTER. “.

Everyone using Denuvo was a forgone conclusion. It works.

Now we just have to place our faith in the ever benevolent game publishers and hope we never need to crack these games for legitimate reasons. :^)

Anti-tamper is ok in my books as long as it does not affect performance or leave stuff on your pc outside the game.

Ugh...isn't Denuvo REALLY wonky in terms of affecting game performance?

From my understanding no, however what this does is prevent the game from being pirated since its extremely hard to crack. If you remember a group that tried to crack the PC version of Just Cause 3 gave up and pretty much any game after that uses denuvo has become almost impossible to crack so most of the crackers just gave up.

Game companies really should have a "X number of years make games open" policy, but can't begrudge them giving crackers and freeloaders a hard time.

Doesnt Denuvo require you be always online? Cause thats bullshit if true.

I think so for most games, I know for a fact that MGS V does allow you to play offline even though most of the games has You check for an internet connection every time you boot up the game

Didn't notice any issues with Denuvo and MGSV. Primal I'll probably pick up on console anyway, uPlay has never been kind to me.

I was going to buy both, guess i just saved 100 bucks.
Yeah right. You're going to miss on those great games because of some drm that doesn't affect you at all? In fact if you hadn't read this you wouldn't even have known about it. What a dumb way of thinking.

More at EULA:

IN NO EVENT SHALL UBISOFT BE LIABLE IN CONNECTION WITH THE COMPONENTS THAT MAY BE INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER BY ANY DRM SOFTWARE OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE ANTI-TAMPER TECHNOLOGY.

Obviously I would rather not have a layer of DRM such as Denuvo over something like CEG - however, I have never had either a functional, offline or performance issues with Denuvo, so I have no problem with it if that continues

I'm OK with that. Then again, I don't have any intention to buy Far Cry Primal. Tomb Raider, maybe in a few months. If Square didn't want my money a couple of months ago, they surely can wait a few more for it.

Never had a problem with it. If it actually helps preventing privacy so be it.

What a delicious typo.

Well, shit works, I guess. and by the time that it needs to be preserved, I imagine pirates will have found a way to crack it.

Sounds like a good thing. Less piracy could potentially mean better ports and more PC exclusives (I'm not a PC gamer personally but I like the idea). Very good all around if it doesn't mess with performance or affect your system in any way.
