I can confirm that RoTR looks amazing. Only issue that i and my friend have is stuttering during transitions from cutscenes and sometimes during loading. I will post some screens as soon as i upload them on flickr

Yeah, that'd work for me too... I just had the same experience stump is having when I was swapping some KF2 items and cards for the sale with other GAFers over the holidays and it made me remove the authenticator protection and just go back to email. I like the idea of just using an SMS like you seem to have it set up, but I'd rather not have to disable steam mobile guard to do it. Hence my lament of them not offering an SMS message as an option to get your verification code for signing in. :)

Frost is the Red Grin Grumbold of pretending he knows what's going on...

Speaking of which, any idea when KF2's Steam Market items are going live? Or, has it already?

That's a hell of a bundle, even if I already own a large part of it. Honestly seems like it should have been a two week main line bundle.

It really is solid. I've stopped myself from pulling the trigger on Space Run during at least 3 different sales now because the reviews just haven't been good.

Something about it has always interested me. There's been a dearth of decent sci-fi. (Unless we're spelling it syfy now...)

With what specs are you getting the stuttering?

Level 35 or so in Dragon's Dogma...seriously considering putting the game down though. The combat system is so damn good but you spend way too much time doing some of the most boring and inane shit. It's one of the best RPG combat systems wrapped in an awful world and mostly boring sets of quests.

The way people talk about the game I thought I'd be spending most of my time fighting dope giant monsters and stuff like that.

I'm starting to feel the same. Around 20 hours into the game.

Combat is excellent but running around and doing crappy quests is getting old very, very fast. Fighting Dragons and stuff is an adrenaline rush while the rest is a complete bore.

Picked up RE0 last night and have been playing that instead of Dragons Dogma recently.

That's why you pick every single quest on the boards, and then forget about them because you simply go around the world exploring and attacking stuff and while you destroy mofo after mofo you get to complete some of those quests, at least the kill x shit. I've been having so much fun with it doing that.

Also game doesn't support DS4 button prompts (it was expected) but i wonder will they update game later when PS4 version is released.

With what specs are you getting the stuttering?

It is probably my GTX 760 that has 2GB of VRAM that is to blame for that (or maybe HDD but i am not sure). As soon as gameplay starts everything is locked 30 (I am playing on mix between medium-high settings).

Frost is the Red Grin Grumbold of pretending he knows what's going on...

Speaking of which, any idea when KF2's Steam Market items are going live? Or, has it already?

They're live... some of the rare skins go for upwards of 20$.
And I see what you did there... just not sure if the point was to make a reference to R&M or take a shot at me... one makes you infinitely more awesome... the other, well, not so much. ;)

I think I have a problem. I'm realizing that I kind of give myself two separate budgets for spending money on video games.

One budget is for games I want to play right now. Typically a new or recent release. I am very cheap when it comes to these games. I won't spend $60, but maybe $20-$40 depending on the game and how badly I want to play it.

Then there are bundles. Games that sometimes I have no intention of every playing. Sometimes the bundle might have a game that I might try at some point but lets be realistic, the chances are usually pretty low. I'm willing to spend $3-5 on these bundles. Maybe up to $10 if there is a game I know I will play immediately.

Here is the "problem", for the latter scenario I don't really give myself a budget. I mean, if 5-6 good bundles come out in a month I will buy all of them without even really thinking about it. That is say $15-$30 depending on the month.

For the first scenario, the games I will actually play, I hem and haw (larrydavid.gif) over how much I am willing to spend. If I just cut out the bundles except for games I know I want to play immediately I could probably worry less about how much I am spending on the games I know I want to play.

Anyone else have this problem (or did I just describe 75% of SteamGAF memebers)?

That's a lot of us, especially the people that collect +1s. I've gotten way more picky about bundles in the last six months or so because I know I have way more games now than I'll ever play, and I just don't care that much about +1s (in fact I think my goal this year is to not reach 2000 games on my Steam account). It's not that hard to judge the value of a bundle, and if it has games in it that will get bundled again (usually for cheaper). Though I basically never spend $20+ on any game, $5-$10 for my most wanted stuff is pretty much my upper limit.

I just spent $5 on this Focus bundle because it has Contrast, Final Exam, and Bound by Flame in it, all games I have legitimate interest in, and could see playing down the line. All I'll really have to do to make the purchase be worthwhile is play and enjoy one of them. It also has some games I really like in it, like Mars: War Logs, which I will enjoy giving away sometime later. Maybe a couple of the other games will amount to something for me, more likely they'll just get forgotten.

Good for you for realizing you may be spending money you didn't really want to. It is important to realize that those cheap bundle purchases do add up. While you may get games for mere pocket change each, it's easy to spend quite a bit every month without realizing it. If you have that in your budget, that's fine, but everyone should be smart and be aware of their own finances. It's pretty rare that a bundle or deal comes along that won't ever be equaled some time in the future.

It really is solid. I've stopped myself from pulling the trigger on Space Run during at least 3 different sales now because the reviews just haven't been good.

At first glance Space Run always intrigues me, then I realize it's a tower defense game, which is one of the genres I rarely enjoy.

And no one spells it SyFy. Even SyFy regrets it.

Can someone explain me Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 price? 83€ is too much even for batshit crazy pricing policies of KT.
Also those 5 people who bought it, can't even play it, it just crashes right away, amazing....

edited: bah... I couldn't be more wrong, there are 7,640 people playing it right now.
It can't be right, can it?

Japanese price converted? It's a Japanese/Chiense only game, so I'd expect the high price to reflect Japanese level pricing or something. After all, that's a game that they are selling for Japanese/Chinese people mainly, not for a worldwide audience (hence only Japanese/Chinese language).

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Anyone else have this problem (or did I just describe 75% of SteamGAF memebers)?

I think you probably just described 75% of SteamGAF, yeah.

I transitioned from this very mindset last year, I used to buy every bundle even if I was only missing a few of the games. Not only was I chasing the "+1", but I justified it by thinking to myself "I'll probably play one of these games, eventually..." and then (usually) never did. At the height of my bundle buying days, I was #114 on the list of people who own the most Steam games and that fueled my purchases even more I think. I own over 3,200 games on Steam.

In 2014 I started the 52 games per year challenge here on GAF. I ended up finishing 63 games in 2014, and only 41 of those were on Steam. I realized that if I'm playing 41 games a year it would take me over 78 years to play every game I own on Steam, and that's if I stopped buying new games right now.

I got to the point last year when I thought: "I have enough stuff to play on Steam now in case I get bored of something I actually want to play." and realized I'd much rather spend my money on games I know I'm going to play right away. I set out to buy a max of about 2-3 new games a month on Steam, and 1-2 new games (at most) for PS4, and I've been doing that for the past 5 or 6 months. It's just like realizing that if you buy something on sale that you don't need, you didn't "save" any money.

Not only has that helped me keep my spending habits in order, but it's helped to focus me on the things I know I will enjoy. I pre-ordered Tomb Raider and Dragon's Dogma this month from GMG because I knew I would want to play them right away and I knew I would enjoy them - and I played almost 30 hours of DD already and plan to binge out on Tomb Raider this weekend and I really liked TR2013.

Of course it's all a matter of personal preference, this is just my own personal thoughts on the matter as someone who's come out of the other side of this particular internal struggle. I don't think I'm even in the top 500 game owners on Steam any more, and I'm okay with that because I'm having a blast playing games now that I might have waited on otherwise for budgetary reasons.

EDIT: just checked on astats and I'm actually at exactly #500. What are the odds?

It's pretty rare that a bundle or deal comes along that won't ever be equaled some time in the future.

I've done the same type of thing when it comes to bundles lately.

Generally speaking, I don't mind dropping $20 or less on a game but will throw $30ish at some of the newer releases that I know wont be much cheaper in the long run for a good amount of time. I could probably wait on some of these, tbh, but I'd rather have the option to play <x> if that's the game I feel like it and not have that feeling of "damn, when will it be on sale next, I'll have to play something else in the meantime."

However, as I said, bundles are now something where I have to see at least a few games that make it worthwhile to me. Some of the newer Indiegala bundles for example, had games I had a passing interest in cause they looked interesting (Death Goat, Kill the Plumber), but neither game was worth the full price of admission to me.

As it stands I have over 75 spares just kicking around... and I don't really feel like adding to that unless the bundle in question has a few games in it that turn out to be something of a "deal" in terms of pricing.

Every person's situations are different, of course, and what I judge to be worthwhile or unworthy could be completely different for someone else.

Bound by Flame was definitely worth $5, even after all of it's faults. I had a mostly fun time with it, though some of the annoyances have prevented me from going back for any additional playthroughs.

You definitely have a sensible mentality when it comes to all this though. :)

Well this is new. Thankfully I can still click the grayed out buttons. It just gives a warning that I can't gift it once I do. Scared me for a moment. The funny thing is it only put those blue indicators for a few of the games I own. Others in the list that I owned didn't show anything.

I actually managed to stop buying games, I buy maybe 2-3 a month instead of 10-20 as before.

But as for bundles, nothing much changed, the problem with this is not only I find something I want to play almost in any bundle (possibility of playing all those games, doesn't even come into that equation), but I'd buy a bundle if it has games with cards, yeah... I said I stop with this after level 100, but it didn't quite worked like planned. But ! I will stop some day, nobody including me believed I can stop buying games, but I did! It's only matter of time.

I noticed today that I did went past your game count, after saying it'll never happen something like a year before.

Oh well, not buying games is hard, what I can say
I don't even blame Jasec anymore, as he's rarely here postin buyeverything.gif

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
apparently you folk are talking about the dilema im facing...right now in fact lol.

I had said to myself this year I would focus more on games I actually want to play right now, as opposed to waiting for them to go on sale as usual, and by that time, maybe I dont feel like playing it anymore (certainly not as much as I want right now).

Thus im really struggling to not buy Darkest Dungeon, which I really want to play right now. But as someone pointed out to me on steam, XCOM 2 is in 1 week (which I already bought) and it WILL consume me until I finish it, like no matter how much I like Darkest Dungeon, I am dropping it the second XCOM is out, thats just a fact for me.

So how much would I play in the 1 week ahead of me before xcom? Probably alot, but I most likely wouldnt finish it. And then the question becomes, would I get back to it later?

Hmph. I say hmph sirs!

I'm doing an experiment this year and instead of buying crappy bundles, I'll only get ones that really, really interest me.

I mean, I got Tales from Borderlands and Contradiction both from a bundle. I don't regret either purchase.

Instead, I'm going to actually buy games on full price/marginal discount. No more than one a month, just stuff I really, really want to play.

We'll see how it goes.

It put those indicators for games you've redeemed previously through Humble Bundle, it doesn't actually know if the game is in your Steam account or not. I didn't even try clicking it for a key though, which I suppose is probably the point.

Bound by Flame is certainly not triple-shit, the areas are small and get smaller and more linear as the game goes on, fights become boring and the last boss is bullshit but it's still alright if you want an action-rpg that's not too hard and can be finished in ~15hrs.

They're live... some of the rare skins go for upwards of 20$.
And I see what you did there... just not sure if the point was to make a reference to R&M or take a shot at me... one makes you infinitely more awesome... the other, well, not so much. ;)

Haha, it was a reference. Kind of a bad one, too, considering I then went on to ask a specific question about what was going on in Killing Floor 2.

But yeah, I really need to dive into that game with a more concerted effort. I gave it a quick spin, thought it was fun, thought the blasting soundtrack really worked for the gameplay, but had (and have) too much on my plate.

I don't know if I'm going to keep with the 52 game challenge. I'm mostly on track and it definitely feels good clearing games I've meant to clear, but it keeps me from playing some stuff that I currently want to play because they're either open-ended and e-fucking-normous or online multiplayer.

Why would bluetooth headphones have a wire? Kind of defeats the purpose.
