I want to buy this, but I'll wait to see if modders can fix the (potential) 30 fps.

I've heard a lot of people rave about this particular Tales game.

I'm going to guess most of the praise comes from when and where it originally released back then. It's a cool Tales and still my favorite of those I've played, though.

Well, it's really good. Tales games tend to have some of the worst protagonists in gaming history, but Lloyd's a lovable idiot. He's no Yuri, but he's decent. Story is interesting too.

It also has an advantage over more recent Tales games by not using an appallingly ugly low-rent 3D anime art style.

Curious about the fps. Not going to touch it any time soon since I had a lot of ToZ recently and I already beat the GC version on the Wii, but it's pretty cool to have it on my Steam account (got it with the the ToZ pre-order). Who'd have thought.

This is what we've come to.

Comparing preload sizes on GAF.

I'm just genuinely curious why are they different.

The game is pretty small, people with high speed internet won't need it anyway. Unpacking will take more time than downloading the game when it launches.

8 playable characters, 2 paths, 2 world map, distinctive environments and dungeons, a buttload of sub-quests and costumes (this was before Namco could take them out and sell them as DLC).

Story is what it is, but the game is so, so fun if you like adventure.

Considering Zesteria was fixed in less than a month and was likely a much harder fix, I'd give Symphonia a week max before someone mods in 60 FPS.

It looks like a pretty barebones port, the PC options are just resolution and keyboard controls added to the preexisting config menu.
Battle controls is even spelled wrong. The game isn't very alt-tab friendly either.

I think the game gets a lot of praise from the community because it was many people's first Tales of game. It's a fine game, and was great when it came out, but it's dated for sure. Subsequent Tales games improved upon the gameplay quite a bit. Even its sequel, Dawn of The New Age, improved upon the gameplay quite a bit. That's unfortunately all it improved upon however.

Story wise it's fine, but it's essentially Final Fantasy X with more crazy elements added in.

Tales of Zestiria was received very well by the community with 92% positive reviews before the 60fps mod hit. People are fine with 30fps, as long as the game is good.

The game seems to create .tmp wrapper (e.g., sec7890.tmp) each time it runs, so I can't set it to my discrete gpu (not sure if it needs it though).

It hangs/crashes when you alt-tab but otherwise seems ok.

Light up the Durante signal!

Played this at 4K, and STILL got the same huge aliasing and poor IQ as I did at 1080p.

There's a 720p internal rendering resolution at play here, I know it.

Tales of Symphonia - Save Delay on Windows 7 Machines
We thank all of you for your support for the launch of Tales of Symphonia on Steam!

It seems there is a delay with the save game menu when saving ONLY on Windows 7 machines. The delay can last up to 30 seconds to bring up the save game menu. This issue is being investigated and a fix is being worked on. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Please stay tuned to the boards for an update.

Heh. I wonder if the budget for this got quietly slashed when they saw the pre-order numbers. Locked resolution seems like a step too far even for a low budget affair, considering Zestiria. Any copyright information or credits to see if it's Q-LOC?

Yeah. I tried at resolutions above 4k and I was still getting horrible jaggies.

Disappointing. :(
