What's going on with the Bomberman series? (A new mobile game released 3 days ago.)

The last mainline Bomberman game to come out was in 2010, wouldn't it be free money to release it on every major console at the start of the generation? As of now, we have three clones, Basement Crawl, Brawl, and Bombing Busters, none of which are nearly as enjoyable.

Does anyone else remember Bomberman 64 multiplayer? Fuck that shit was amazing. Up there with Mario Kart, Party, and Goldeneye.

Me and my friends must have gotten hundreds of hours out of that game back in the day. Replace Party with Smash Bros 64 and that was our standard rotation of multiplayer goodness. Good times. Simple times. <3

They even have more than 20 games that could be easily released on the virtual console, and that's just counting the platforms avaliable right now.

I love Bomberman, but there's not a lot you can do with the franchise. The multiplayer is fun for sure, but you can only do so much with that formula before everyone gets tired of it.

as far as I am concerned, there's no good old bomberman developed by Hudson soft by mid 2000s. It's a long dead IP to me.

Bomberman Love Battlefest was the last one released as previously stated. Its still available on PSN for PS3, on the Wii as WiiWare and xbl for the 360 maybe it will show up on the XB1 BC list. But Konami gonna Konami...

Bomberman and Megaman are in the same ditch behind a Denny's.
Come on now. Capcom don't hate Mega Man, they just don't know what they're doing with him. Konami stomped Bomberman out of existence and offer a bag full of pachinko balls to the face of anyone who complains about it.

The worst thing is how badly Konami have fucked up that NeoGAF running joke of mixing up Konami with Capcom. Nobody could do that anymore. Not even as a joke.

Imagine if Nintendo saved it and castlevania for nostalgia sakes.

That would be a good way to keep me buying their systems guaranteed. As long as they put out consistently good entries, anyway.

But yeah, I doubt any of the talent behind the Bomberman games are still at Konami. If a new Bomberman release comes out it'll probably be Suikoden Tierkreis quality lol.

It's dead.

The only time people bring up Bomberman here is for the stupid joking about Bomberman Xtreeeeme for xbox 360.

Bomberman lives on in the DS that currently resides in my bathroom. I pay homage to Hudson's creation at least once a day. Possibly twice or more if I happened to have Mexican food the day before.

This is like saying "There's only so many shooters one can release before people stop buying them."

There's a reason why my local anime con has a Saturn Bomberman on projector set up each and every year.

It's perfectly timeless, good ole multiplayer gaming, and even just refreshing it's graphics and including forgotten elements (Dinos, various power ups, guest characters from other IPs) gives it enough reason to exist as at least a solid downloadable game each generation.

Considering very few B'man games have ever given the character unique stats and abilities, I'd think there's a decent amount more one would do with it, and still make it appealing.
